Apparently James Wilson was at Vale yesterday, on our forum someone who knows him (he’s from Biddulph) says he was impressed but lot of clubs interested and Carlisle have put a contract offer in, although he doesn’t want to move up there.
Last week we mentioned that we were in talks with a striker... presumably him then.

Why are you still posting your outgoings in the L2 forum

In 2021, 250k is nothing for a player who will apparently become a premier League player. You could have squeezed so much more out of Watford.

I'm not gonna pretend I am really even clued up of our financial situation, we owed 11M to our owner who wrote it off and took our ground in return. I am not sure how we owed him 11M, we certainly overspent a few years ago when trying to get to the Championship but 11M is a lot. I generally put trust in our chairman because we need him to have a football club.
Because it's the forum you laughed at me for saying Pollock wouldn't get a move to a Prem club and the conversation has naturally gone this way. I know you're a bit dense, but surely you know how a forum works?

250k isn't massive as an initial fee, but again we don't know what the significant add ons are and we can't really be turning down six figure fees.

We are going to receive a large but “not transformative” fee in a couple months following Rico Henry and Brentford getting promoted. Probably in the region of £500k and £1m.

If Brentford sell him however, then that would be transformative.

One of the best opposition left-backs I’ve seen in recent years. Can’t quite believe he’s still only 23.

First player rumours of the summer for us: Marc Mcnulty and Ryan Edwards. Mellon worked with both at Dundee Utd last season.

Be a good one to nail down Quinn I’d say. Always felt in previous summers it was destined to go wrong but reckon got the right man at the top now so anticipate Mansfield living up to billing this time.

Outside of a few people engaging in guesswork or made up shite from EFL Hub etc absolutely zero substantive rumours regards targets for Vale. Nice to see the leaks that were coming out the club previously have been plugged.

Been remarkably quiet so far, looks like James Wilson was at the club and of course Dan Jones but otherwise its been fairly silent, someone on OVF reckons we've signed the ex Coventry centre half who's at Hamilton?

Only Swindon and Scunny priced up so far for me. Don’t think the other three coming down have particular boardroom concerns, do they? Suppose Oldham with Lemsagam could be a consideration.
AGM and EGM time last night at Rochdale.

AGM Motion by the Board to issue new shares, in order to attract new investors defeated.

EGM Motion to remove P Bottomley (CEO) and G Rawlinson as Directors passed.

Various former directors (who are still shareholders) - some from the 1980s, some more recent (American soccer-by-algorithms entrepreneur Dan Altman) - and the Supporters Trust coming together to rip Bot-Bot to shreds.

Bury is less than five miles away, and we miss our rivals (particularly the six points per season over recent years). So anything indicating we are even starting to go down the same route will be stamped on.

The shareholdings at Dale are diverse, making it more trouble than its worth to attempt a takeover. Most are happy to let a Board run things and take a back seat. But, unlike the House of Lords, their scrutiny has clout - as was proved last night.

Someone on our forum reckons we've 'signed' Liam Ridehalgh who left Tranmere. No idea but we need a LB.

Any good?

He hails from West Yorkshire and still lives here so it could make sense from his perspective, though been with Rovers for ten years. Decent crosser of the ball, lacks pace and also plays left side in a back three. None of the itk posters on our forums have said anything, so don’t know how likely.

Sounds plausible then. We’ve got a habit of signing players who used to play for us or live in the area.

Seems like part of the furniture after being at Tranmere since 2013. Played a large part in ageing most of us by at least 5 years on May the 12th 2018 after getting sent off with 48 seconds gone in a NL play off final. A solid lower league player. Surprised if Mellon has let him go but Callum McDonald younger and better so unlikely to be 1st choice.

Callum McDonald was class on loan with us (from Derby) a few seasons ago.

I would also like to add that if Liam Ridehalgh has left Tranmere Rovers i wish him good luck in the future (except two games).
Its been an interesting time since he has been here. 2 promotions, 2 relegations and a demotion, four play off campaigns, a cup final and 4 trips to Wembley. Not a dull 8 years.

Be some good trolling from Vale if that teaser was just for the ticket news for the Newcastle Town friendly….

First signing is former Crewe midfielder Brad Walker. Cant say I know much about him to be honest!

Can’t ever remember seeing him play so no idea if he’s any good or not but defensive midfielder was a definite need and seems to be a fair bit bigger than the usual Vale midfielder. If he can add a bit of strength in the middle that should cover for Jake Taylor’s weakness in that area.

He was pretty useless when we took him on loan, but has gained plenty more experience since and didn't seem to do too badly in the National League.

Nice lad but for us he was absolute crap. Signed as a player with high potential from a relegated Hartlepool side for a modest five figure fee and their fans warned us he'd not be what he was being touted as. They were spot on. He was slow and lost the ball loads in midfield. We signed Paul Green within months because he was majorly disappointing in the holding midfield role. And this was in League Two. But there was no way he was getting past Wintle and Green in the holding midfield roles. Even when they were injured, Tommy Lowery, an out of position Perry Ng and an also out of position Harry Pickering were often preferred to him.

That said, he played alright as a CB though which softened the blow of Michael Raynes being shite for us, but he subsequently kicked off about being played out of position so we loaned him to Wrexham then got rid of him permanently. I was baffled he moved up a league to play for Shrewsbury but I suppose Ricketts knew him from Wrexham and rated him.

There were strong rumours that he failed to settle outside the North East at first. He'd just had a kid and he was away from his family for long periods of time. This must've changed else he wouldn't have moved to Shrewsbury.

I wouldn't expect him to be a starter for you lot, definitely a squad depth player in my eyes.

Our out of contract centre half Dan Scarr heavily linked with a move to Plymouth. We offered him a new deal but a lot of our fans, myself included, wanted him released. Can win headers but that's it, has a mistake or three in him, can't pass further than 5 yards, turns like a tank. James Clarke, his centre half partner that we actually released was better than him, and so was our 36 year old player-coach Mat Sadler. Bizarre one from Plymouth if it is true.
