Think you're giving Whitfield far too much credit. He had one good game every 10. Had a moment of quality in him here and there but most of the time offered next to nothing. I wouldn't take him back at Vale, that's for sure. A very lazy, light weight player that goes missing far too much. He seems to have been a bit more productive for Torquay than he was for us, mind.
Our local journalists has dismissed the rumour today which makes sense as we got Gilliead instead. Can’t imagine Adams likes lazy players, we were never in for him anyway I don’t believe just one of these daft Twitter accounts that fly around.

We are likely to be 2 to 3 weeks behind with player recruitment due to our takeover but I've been monitoring player intake of other clubs and without wanting to sound like Devon Lad, there hasn't been any players signed where I've thought 'bloody hell that's a good signing for this level' I'm sure the players brought in by Vale, Walsall or Bradford are probably decent enough but there are no standouts that I've seen so far.

I've heard on the grapevine of a couple of signings we might be making that on paper look impressive but whether that happens is another story. We may end up going shopping in Chesterfield or Nantwich, or even Swindon Supermarine.

We're apparently trying to sign right back Elvis Bwomono from Southend and are still discussing terms with Callum Harriott.

Would be delighted if we got Bwonomo. Had a down year last year and I think he’s been appallingly coached at Southend, but there’s some player in there. Wondering if we’re considering wing backs, though the Harriott interest runs counter to that.

Wood is an out and out wing back just to add to that.

Don’t recall Ray getting sent off during his Rovers career. I’m surprised some Crewe fans have such a negative view of him, wasn’t that bad with us after a ropey start.

Three red cards for us including his final appearance where his head had gone. But we've had a lot worse than him. Harry Davis, Thierry Audel, Ben Nugent and Michael Raynes far worse and they all played alongside him at some point.

Carol Shanahan MBE's annual holiday spend is more than the value of your entire club, don't worry about us and our self made multi-millionairess, flower.
Factually incorrect. We’re a far more stable club than you. You have no idea of the financial implications of your excessive and desperate spending. And Dario Gradi has an MBE so don’t go bragging.

But remember, you’re building a project aren’t you, you’ll have an academy like ours and Stoke’s in no time, be pinching all the good players!!!!

You should see our forum AS. Full of complaints about our mediocre signings. Strange isn't it that league 2 sides should sign league 2 class players.

I’m content with our signings so far, think we need a couple of more first 11 quality players before kick off though, Songo’o being one of them expected to finally be announced in the next couple of days.

Some fans have ridiculous expectations, considering we ended 15th in the 4th tier last season I’m not sure who they expect us to sign. I’m sure we’re not the only club though.

There are rarely stand out teams in terms of quality at this level, it’s all very samey. A fit, well organised team will get you a long way. After the shambles of last season hopefully Derek can bring that to the table.

Many football fans actually act like spoiled children a lot of the time, seemingly at all clubs and all levels. It's perhaps more noticeable with social media now having a huge influence, but the amount of wannabe football managers and expertise on social media who shout down the club on almost every signing before they have even kicked a ball is cringey. The manager and/or the director of football who is paid to make these decisions has chosen to sign xxx player as obviously they see them as a benefit to what they are trying to do. Here's a novel thought, he probably knows more than Joe Soap who just wants to shout 'waah waah' on twitter etc and the player they have signed might actually be quite good if you give him the chance.

Obviously freedom of speech is good, but does allow a lot of morons a platform to look just so.

Jevani Brown signs for us
Completely out of the blue. I know he’s talented but have recollections that Col U fans said he was lazy?! 11 goals before November is impressive but then nothing afterwards.

Hopefully he’ll come good for us.

Bad egg, bad attitude, silky footballer.

Would play higher if he had the right attitude. No idea how we got £250k from Colchester for him.
Oh great exactly the type of player I hate. I dont mind watching shite footballers as long as they make effort and care, I cant stand players who have a tantrum and give up as soon as things dont go their way.

Where’s the money coming from? Is Carol just skinting herself and her business to create a completely uncohesive team? Seems short sighted and not a viable plan in the long term.

I don’t think she’s short of a few Bob in fairness and has an excellent business background, plus Robbie Williams and Autonet have been helping out with sponsorship the shirts etc.

We are a big enough club to compete at this level financially and we’re under Smurf, she’s just investing it not pocketing it.

Plus most of the spend is in “the project” off the field to improve the academy and new training centre/college. That will be built over X amount of time.

Is it sustainable? I haven’t see the investors or balance sheets so I know as much as you regarding that but what I do know is she’s proven as an excellent business woman and I am confident in what she’s doing.

Nicky Ajose 2.0!

Maybe a move away to the South West will see his attitude improve. I admit I am clutching at straws on that though!

Complete waste of money. He was signed as a number ten, but never seemed to fit into a system with us. We then went into last season with Luke Norris as our only striker and he was injured, so we started off with Brown up front and he had a little goal flurry for two or three weeks - I saw it mentioned that he started last season with 11 in 16, well nine of those goals came in a five-game period during November, scoring just twice in the other 60 games he played for us.

No loss at all and he would have been on good money too.

Well we signed a regular starter from a Championship* club last week, that’s impressive no?

I saw some of the Hearts games in that league last season. Pretty poor standard. Seems to be where Northampton are fishing from also so we'll see how successful that turns out. It could be a decent source of cheap talent.

Some of the better players in second scottish tier are capable of playing at L2 level, but you're right, there is some absolute dross there as well.
