Good signing for Harrogate in McArdle - experienced, committed, puts his head (/balls) in where it hurts.

My most despised Crewe player in the 20 years I've been going. If you're in a relegation scrap this season, then you won't want this man in your squad.

Funnily enough, I heard Grimsby wanted him back so I'm surprised he's ended up with you lot.

McArdle gave 100% and more but it’s a shame we had him at the end of his career. Pleased he’s got a move back home, no point keeping a player who doesn’t want to be here. Good luck to him.

He's a player that has played in the FL, that's better than most of our squad so i'll take that atm

Is he really that bad or is it just the case being a centre back at Crewe is a bit of a thankless task? You do well at developing players in other positions but can only think of a small handful at that position you’ve had who were any good.

From the Academy Stephen Foster was our best CB export and he played in the Championship for pretty much a decade, mainly with us and Barnsley.

Dario never believed in defending as he believed that defenders wouldn't generate big money sales. Some of our ex players touched on it in podcasts that they were stunned by Dario's dismissal of the importance of defending. But Dario would rather win games 4-3 than 1-0. It worked for us more often than not but late game multi goal collapses that most clubs would have once every 5 years were happening to us at least twice a season for many years until recently.

Since then we've modernised and had two centre halves manage us. Davis brought in basic defensive training that initially made us more competent at the back but we leaked goals for fun due to his awful style of play. Artell has made us a lot better defensively and now we have Luke Offord who, if he stays injury free, will be destined for higher levels in the future.

As for Harry Davis, nepotism got him the captaincy, 200+ appearances, seemingly undroppable status despite consistently poor form and a six figure annual salary with us. That wasn't entirely his fault. But many defensive errors, blaming others for his own mistakes, telling fans to fuck off on many occasions and going on strike when his Dad was sacked really summed him up. Not the worst player we've ever had but had his Dad not been at the club he'd have been released as a kid and Chey Dunkley would've stayed with us instead. I wonder what happened to him...

He did well for us every time he played and barely put a foot wrong. Should be a solid signing for you.
Any of your other released players worth a punt? We've signed two players this summer both that you've just released.

Can't attract the players. McArdle the latest one to say he is missing his home.
Well, Exeter is hardly the arse end of nowhere. So you’re saying your present players want to leave and you can’t attract any new ones due to your location?

Pretty much. There is a pattern here. Jake Taylor wanted to go back to his family in the South East. Sweeney said the same. Williams said he was missing London (so ended up in Hull). McArdle was missing Yorkshire.
I'm not 100% convinced by it all, and strange that they have chosen to leave at the same time.
Matt Taylor has said meanwhile that players are reluctant to leave their home areas at the moment, which is why we are struggling to attract players.

Strange at a time when every man and his dog wants to relocate here. Other than footballers.

Well, it is their job at the end of the day. Should be grateful some clubs are willing to sign them. They’ll be a few on the scrap heap this season.

We've apparently turned down a 5 figure bid for Alfie May from a League 2 team. Assumptions being made that it's FGR, because they're the only club that exist according to a minority of our fans.

As for Alfie - he's easily replaceable. Can score out of nothing, but by God is he infuriating with some of his misses. Only really seems to turn it on against the decent teams. I don't want to see him go, but I wouldn't be too upset if he does.
Been told that it was ourselves who did indeed bid for May - No idea how far we will try and push for him because I'd imagine it would take silly money for you to part with him, also you're a league higher than us.

Looking at Tranmere Rovers twitter we seem to be making a concerted effort to sign a lot of catering staff. No player news but at least we will not go hungry.

Good signing. Don't listen to certain Crewe fans on Davis, BD. Some of them hate him for no apparent reason other than his dad being a shit manager for them. We were told exactly the same things and he was decent for us. He also scored against them for us and celebrated in front of them after they were giving him shit all game and that just wound them up even more. I'd rather he didn't go to you lot but he's too good for non-league so I'm pleased he's got himself a L2 club. He's not amazing but he's solid, fairly mobile, decent in the air, comfortable with the ball and can also fill in it at right back.

He was literally a part of 4 successive relegation battles but, as all others were moved on or left to rot in the reserves, he was the one constant. It was very much performance based because we didn't mind him in his first 2 years...

I thought Orsi was well regarded?

Orsi was decent at NL level but still an unknown quantity at this, must be a lot of strikers who look the nuts in the league below and are just out of their depth in the EFL, their other signing Luke Armstrong, really good season with us in the National League but has already struggled for goals at this level in the past.

Most of them do a job at this level. I wouldn't be shocked at seeing McAlinden sign for someone like Walsall, he was superb in the playoffs. Wouldn't bother with Leitch-Smith though, he's a liability with his injury record, but there's always Jordan Slew.......go on, you know you want to!

We’ve got a transfer embargo incoming due to the crooked Power not paying the wages - even those furloughed. It doesn’t really make that much difference as until we get a manager there’s nobody to identify targets. Hoping it’s sorted next week. We’ll be well behind everyone else pre season but, tbh, I’ll take any amount of short term pain for long term gain.

Would be delighted if we got Bwonomo. Had a down year last year and I think he’s been appallingly coached at Southend, but there’s some player in there. Wondering if we’re considering wing backs, though the Harriott interest runs counter to that.
He should move on really. I will certainly be interested to see how he does at a non basket case club but ever since he made that RB place his own at our place we've been the worst team in the football league and hasn't really done alot to stand out of the teams of shit we've witnessed.
