Funnily enough Moomin but had things been different our centre back pairing could have been Sweeney and Grounds this season. I know ID isnt a fan but I thought generally despite a shocking season Grounds had games where he looked competent. He's slow and prone to mistakes but can play football. (he's played most of his career in the Championship remember) Perhaps in a more confident professional team he may do ok?
Cheers mate, that’s made me feel slightly less pessimistic. It’s interesting you said that grounds can play football as both Taylor and Grounds, himself said in their interviews today that he likes to play good football and we’re looking to play a good footballing style this season. So perhaps he may fit in with how we play this season - time will tell, I guess!

I guess when you look at his footballing CV you expect a little more. It will be interesting to see how he does for you guys. Will be checking in every now and then for updates!

Don't oversell it - he was ok.
Fair enough, you saw him much more than me. Remember him having a good game against us last season and 40+ games in a league winning side bodes well. We needed a midfielder and hopefully Flynn can get a tune out of him.

Class player but inconsistent, as is any L1/L2 winger. One of those players which gets you up off your seat though. I think he did okay at Hull but they weren't gutted when he was recalled and he seemed to be in and out of the team. I think if he got a steady run of games he'd be a top winger again in L1.
Thanks, signed last night. Looks a fairly tall and strong winger, which is unusual at these levels.

If nothing else we can at least field a side with a keeper and a sub keeper on the bench this season.

Lewis Ward joins. Ex Northampton, FGR and Exeter custodian. Rare for us to have 2 permanent keepers at the club.

He's not a bad player - he's just a bit......flaky.

He rarely lasted 90 mins when he did start. He had his moments, and I think he'd be a lot better if he had more faith in himself.

Ironically we dont currently have any. Well, a couple of kids and an aging keeper/ coach.
I'm sure that will change this week, but it will be interesting to see if he is better than Ward.

If Ward stays fit, you’ve got a very good young ‘keeper. He was so unlucky in his time with us. Think he broke his arm about 15 games into his first season and then fucked his ankle about 15 games into last season!

Ryan Stirk signs on loan untill the end of the season from Birmingham, midfield cover in all likelihood.

Still hoping for a CB before the season starts.

We've signed Alex Perry following a successful trial period.

Still got room for two more players I think.

Looks like we’re set to sign Sheffield Wednesday ‘keeper Cameron Dawson on a season long loan. 60 or so Championship games for them in the last 3 seasons so should be a good signing I think.

Only played so many because Westwood was frozen out by 2 different managers and had his fair share of injuries.

He really should have had this sort of move when he was younger. You can see the confidence he once had has gone and it’s resulted in him making error after error.

Hope it works out for him and yourselves though.

Cheers. Seems like a good move for both parties.

Rumour that Nicky Ajose is training with us. Was a great success before but was then subsequently crap everywhere else after we sold him to Charlton. We have 1 youth striker so very much a case of needs must. Other rumour is Norwood or Jackson from Ipswich.

Well, according to Tractor Boys they are keeping Norwood and want money for Jackson.

So unless we can con a loan move for Jackson our DoF must have been looking at someone else last night.

Ajose has a 1 in 2 scoring record for us. Heaven knows why he’s done jack shit anywhere else. I’d have him back.

I can tell you why: he refuses to train on anything other than a soft grass pitch.

So we’re the only club he’s played for that has one?

What do you train on? Concrete or something?

Winter will be fun, at least we know if Nicky is performing well and helping Swindon win matches we know it'll end as soon as the cold weather hits

I presume when he was with us the great British weather threw up its usual variety of hard and soft surfaces for pitches. Wasn’t a problem for him then.

Has he had an injury that could cause a problem?

"Another aspect is that he is barely training with us at the moment because we are training on the astro on a daily basis due to the weather and the state of the pitches and he doesn’t train on astroturf due to previous knee injuries."

I've no idea if these knee injuries came after he was with you or not.
