He will do a job at National League as he did for Hartlepool (if it’s a loan for example) he just seemed to struggle with the step up in terms of the pace of the game. On the left of the three wingers targeted him early season and he struggled with that.

Id say it would be a good move for all parties, we need a dominant centre half that’s younger than Legge, he needs games and he’s done it at the level your at this season and won promotion.
As seen with Sutton the gap between the leagues isn’t that wide so it’s worrying he hadn’t stepped up but by far his best season was under Challinor so there is hope with that.

I’m hoping it’s a loan deal.

Ahh he’s just been rubbish then in his best position :(

He’s barely had a chance to say that he’s been rubbish. The last time he played for us against Hartlepool he was pretty good even if he wasn’t up against the most intimidating forward line. I think he does need someone experienced alongside him though as he does seem a bit slow to recognise what is happening in front of him.

Am surprised we would let him go at this moment as Dan Jones our first choice LCB is banned for three games.

Johnson would be a good signing for Stockport.
I wasn't bothered he left Pools, as I think NL is about his level.
Great in a back 5 with someone pacey next to him,but pretty hopeless in a flat back four.

Mark Duffy has left us after his 6 moth deal came to an end. Clearly a good player back in the day but assume his legs have gone as he got very few opportunities.

"Not quite good enough for us, but he'll rip it up in League Two" etc.
Haha we get that with any player that joins any of the big National League clubs on loan, ‘can’t believe we’ve loaned him out should be playing here’ ‘he’ll smash that league apart’ etc.

I actually think that would be one of the better possible loan signings, someone on the periphery of the first team a league above, rather than some 18 year old from a Championship club who will no doubt be getting released at the end of the season.

Ha, yeah I was actually pleasantly surprised - on paper he seems like the best sort of signing we could've hoped for.

Cooper said he expects "a couple of players in by the weekend", so maybe cover for Gotts or Grayson?

Ryan Johnson sold to Stockport for an undisclosed fee. Hope it works out for him taking a drop down. Personally I’d have wanted to see what we had with him over the next three games while Jones serves his suspension.

Good signing for them, might've been ropey for your lot but he was very good for us.

All season mate big miss for us great player at this level only won last season when he was playing thats how good he can be.

Seems to be some rumours that Devante Rodney is leaving us. Interesting to see if the case. He looked a real prospect last season and really thought he would push on but has been well off it this season.

He is one of those I think is better as a wide forward mind which doesn’t fit our formatio

Just on the limited stuff have seen from him the problem with Johnson is he isn’t really good enough on the ball to play as one of the wider centre halves in a back three and not really suited to playing in a two either. Don’t know who else Stockport have at centre back but if they have someone talk him through things that will help as his reading of the game isn’t the greatest.

Probably playing under a manager in Challinor who knows him well I reckon he should do a good job there certainly in that league. Getting a fee for him isn’t the worst deal for us and frees up a squad space.

It's a fair point, he had Gary Liddle playing alongside him for a good chunk of his games in the National League who will have marshalled him through, wages spent aside you've a turn a modest profit on him.

Sounds like we had a good offer and would have kept him had it not been for the money offered which makes it a good deal for us and allows us to reinvest it.

Need a centre half now.

We've approached Hearts to take Jamie Walker on loan. Pretty sure he was shit for Wigan and Peterborough when he was last South of the border.

I've been really impressed with him, doesn't score many but contributes in other ways, endless running and works his socks off. He just needs a goalscorer alongside to compliment him. Just picked up an injury so annoyingly may be out for a few weeks.

Hopefully this lad from Sunderland is much better than the other options we have.

Definitely need a left footed one now as only have Jones on the books who ticks that now.

For what its worth Unofficial Vale on Twitter is hinting at us looking at Chris Hussey at Cheltenham. Always considered him more a fullback / wingback to be honest and unless we are moving on Benning or more worryingly Gibbons am not sure of the thinking if in fact there is anything in it.

He put in the best individual performance I’ve seen from a Tranmere player this season, albeit in the EFL trophy at Salford.

Also sad to see Scotty Davies injury has led to his premature retirement.

He has good goalscoring record from midfield with Hearts. I would be happy if this comes off to be honest

I’ve seen a few of your fans suggesting Vernam will be on his way out as a result, I can’t make sense of that?

We’ve signed Omari Patrick from Burton Albion on an 18 month contract.

Really pleased with that one. We’ve missed his pace and power since he left in the summer.

I should hope not. But then again, nothing would surprise me at this club.

does that mean you think you'll stay up now.... usually you would say your doomed if you were 20 points clear with 7 games left......

No I still think we’re heading down. Whilst Patrick is a good wide man, he scored 5 goals last season in a much better team than this one. We don’t have a proper number 9 to score goals. Until that changes I have us as big favourites for the drop.

He was shocking for us. I presume from your comment that he fared much better with you in his previous spell there.

I won't be unduly worried if he plays against us on Saturday. Watch him net the winner now!
