Alex hunt from Sheff weds signed until end of season heard good things this boy needs to hit the ground running
Will depend very much on how you use him. He's great when you've got your foot on the gas. He can move the ball about quicker than most, doesn't lose the ball and can play killer passes. Very tidy on the ball. Can ping corners in superbly if you've got players that can get their heads on to the end of them. However, we also used him more defensively quite a bit on the road and while he's competent enough there at the level below this he's definitely wasted there. He's not big so he doesn't do that well in scrappy matches, but he will get stuck in and he while he can certainly win the ball he'll get outfought a lot by more experienced and physically stronger players.

6:55ish here, he's no 26 winning the freekick and banging it in in injury time to win it.

2:05ish here for a lovely pass through to Sousa who gets the assist for Taylor.

Hopefully he does well, however I'm really not sure if he's cut out for a relegation battle in L2. If you're expecting a 21 year old lad who has barely played in the Football League to come in and carry you then it suggest things are bad. Really hope he does well for you as there's a quality player in there.

Mansfield have announced O’Toole contract extension - really good news.

Think the Radfords got involved to make sure this happened.

Aye, that’s what happens when you’ve got some of the best owners around, bloody delighted.

Montel Gibson was absolutely fucking dreadful for us, never seen somebody look so out of place in all my years watching us. Genuinely looked like a Sunday league player, maybe it was nerves, the shite he was surrounded with or the lack of crowds, I’m not sure but I can’t see how on earth he’ll ever make it as a league footballer.

Alex Hunt on the other hand is a cracking player.

Oh hey lew,

12 wins out of 14 since you said you were happy we were playing crap and seeing us implode.

Much love x

You keep mentioning it but consider me happy about it too given I’d made the error of putting you in my ‘promotion’ acca

It does sound as if that one got right in your head though

Well yeah, you sounded like the slightly salty recently relegated fan hoping the same unfortunate fate would happen to us - but i recall you were doing well at the time, i think even top, but now level on points with solihull moors, wowsers, what happened!

I don't know if Clough is a good man manager, coach or both. Some of the players he has chosen to work with have improved significantly though. Hewitt and McLaughlin as RB and LB for example I had written off. McLaughlin has to be up there with the best in the division at the moment.

Lose out on Charman and land Gibson. Yikes. I like Dale so I hope that doesn't happen. You can do way better.
We've not done badly over the years with signings from down the leagues. Scott Hogan and Craig Dawson have brought in a couple of million in sell-on clauses, Jake Beesley has just moved to Blackpool.

OK, they haven't all come off - Jon Shaw was very good at Conference level, but got injured and couldn't dislodge anyone from our team when he recovered; Jordan Williams was 100% effort, but not savvy enough for L1; Jack Muldoon only has a couple of sub appearances for us, but seems to be doing pretty well 8 years on with Harrogate.

Who knows how Gibson or Charman might do - reports on both suggest they are hard-working, which is a good start!

I went in to the summer thinking we need a new first team LB but McLaughlin has definitely been one of our best players this season so far.

I can’t remember an occasion in the past where a team that began the window right in the promotion mix and then has undergone a full scale rebuild on the squad like we are erring towards. Seems unusual at the very least.
We had quite a big one a few years back when loanees Jerry Yates, Ashley Nadesan and Jack Sowerby were all recalled and John Sheridan quit.

Clough is one of the better managers in the lower leagues, it’s nice to see how they’ve came on under him, hewitt earlier on in the season looked a disaster.

Maybe after 2 seasons at 2 different disasterous clubs he just needed a decent manager and some stability.

I noticed Nadesan didn't really celebrate when he scored on Saturday. Must have had a good time at Carlisle.

Not going to mention the penalty miss.

Yeah, well he was on loan with us twice, with two different managers. Don't think he had a great time at Fleetwood either so was probably very enjoyable for him to be playing and scoring after tooling around the reserves for Blackpool-lite. Looks to have lost a little bit of his pace after that injury he had the other year, probably the fastest player I've ever seen play for us.

That miss was incredible. All our former players can't score penalties against us, Zoko missed one in the FA cup that almost looked like he meant to miss.

Hewitt is a RB not a CB mate.
Not if you've got a manager who knows how to use him at CB. This one made me laugh...

...definitely told you all several times that Hursty got a tune out of him last season.

Elliot Hewitt scouted as a competent L2 defender by Paul Hurst and Son of Cod last season. Don't believe these fraudulent claims from Nigel Clough and Adam Stag.

He got bullied by a kid against Walsall, think Clough probably knows what he’s doing to be fair. Shot in the dark :D

Don’t leave me out of this please.

Made me laugh reading this as well, we’ve gone from ‘Grimsby fans say Hewitt is a good player’ to ‘Mansfield fans say he’s a back up’ to ‘Mansfield fans say Grimsby were wrong and he’s shite’ to ‘Grimsby fans say you’re wrong’ and now, somehow we’re at ‘Cloughy has turned him into a good player

he’s not suppose to be our first choice RB but Gordon is out long term along with Perch. He’s solid if unspectacular, decent cross on him though.

Just another one on the long list of things that pontoonlew and Son of Cod called right this season.

Charman will always put a shift in, but he has that ability to make something out of nothing which I would say makes him worth the punt.

I didn’t think he’d made it with clough after the 3-2 defeat at home to bradford, though he did kinda hang him out to dry on the right with 2 players on him each attack.

Clough was not happy
