You can have Hornby back if you like or Richard O'Donnell, take your pick

Hornby wasn’t terrible when he was at Vale. That may have been clouded by his first season where he was up against Ryan Boot and Rob Lainton so maybe he looked better than he actually was.

We've signed Myles Kenlock on loan from Ipswich so that we can now field an entire eleven of former Ipswich players. Just need to appoint Paul Cook now to manage them all and we're well set as a B team.
And I thought our recruitment was lazy

Colchester really need to branch out their scouting network. Surely to god West Ham or Norwich would be within that area to get some players from.

if they've got any sense 2 or 3 on loan from West Ham's u-23 side would transform Colchester from a side heading towards the bottom 2 to 1 that could comfortably finish 22nd at worst.

To be fair West Ham beat our under 23s comfortably on Tuesday and look a good side.
We just have to do with Bristol City's dregs. Though so do Colchester now...

my granddad was a happy hammer so i've always had an interest in them - i saw the live stream of them outclassing Exeters u-23 side earlier this week and they have a lot of very good players - but unfortunately if Colchester did get 2 or 3 in on loan they'd still have 8 or 9 of the players they've already got - which is why they'd struggle to get much higher....

Nichols (and Nadesan) has let the side down in terms of goals scored but he have has been playing out of position, while injured etc etc.

He missed the first 1 1/2 months injured, then played as an advanced midfielder rather than a forward but this year he has been pushed back up top and started scoring again.

Casey
Tom became a bit of a joke here with his 'goalscoring' record even though he was tidy on the ball he never looked like every scoring, which was surprising as we signed him as Peterborough's top scorer for decent money.
Slightly better than Luke James though. Christ we have had some goal shy strikers lately...

Good news for us!!! Grimsby are interested in taking Abrahams on loan.
I really don’t get Tristan Abrahams. When we had him on loan, he initially looked an absolute beast. He’s built powerfully and has a bit of pace, plus he scored on his debut. But that’s as good as he got and his career seems to have really stalled since. Maybe he needs to drop into non league and maybe he will work his way back up.

I was going to post something similar half an hour ago. I saw him a few times for Newport and he looked really good

I'm sure he will do well against Vanarama defences, he is strong and he tries hard. I don't think he is (as I heard someone in the local media describe him) the worst attacker ever to play for us... just doesn't have the smartness to outfox defenders at this level.

Gazumped by Rochdale, what a time to be alive.

Not that I blame the lad to be honest.

Will almost certainly go straight into the starting team with us - the only out and out forwards we have on the books are the two young loanees (Andrews and Cashman), neither of whom had played league football before this season. Both have shown promise, but not consistently and can drift out of games.

City have Cook, Vernam, Angol and Robinson (and maybe others) to compete against for a starting place.

DC in his press conference said we are looking for 3 or 4 more before the window closes. Been an interesting approach by us this January considering was under the impression it was just going to be minor tweaks. In fairness I suppose the hand will have been forced by Conlons Achilles injury, by the sound of it he has been playing through it a while which is why he's not looked quite the same. Admire the commitment to the cause at least.

Vernam is a winger, Angol has played more out wide than up front and Robinson and Lavery are gash. Only has Cook to compete with and whilst I like Andy, he can be improved upon.

Striker is the one position we had to get right, irrespective of any other business we did. So far it isn't looking great and is set up for another Kurtis Guthrie on deadline day.

Hmm, I do believe that our current crop of strikers have the capabilities to guide us to the play-offs and beyond; on the proviso that they’re fed accordingly. The introduction of Walker and Daly (and possibly Pereira) do fill me with confidence.

I’m actually more concerned about our defence - particularly RB.

Me too, looked a handful but obviously isn’t doing it consistently.

He must have lost his pace over the last few years then, because we haven’t seen any of it.

Yeah just listened to Flickers and looks like we’d done a deal with Bolton for Dennis Politic but the Italians came in at the last minute. Shame on that one.

Really happy with Lucas Akins, nice addition to the squad, good versatility is a bonus.

Really? Our problem hasn't been creating chances but finishing them. Angol and Cook are fine but Robinson and Lavery are nowhere near good enough. And with Angol's hamstrings, he isn't exactly dependable.

Agree with you on a RB though.
