We were never really seriously in for him. Good luck to him, but let's be honest we need better than a 6th tier part time striker
According to Parker we weren't, which doesn't say much.

You're probably right but I'd take that 6th tier part time striker over the 30+ year old journeyman rotting in Stevenage's reserves that we make a habit of signing.

absolutely immense signing

Noticed he put in a transfer request last season to join us but Burton rejected it because they didn’t get a replacement, this time they agreed to release him from his contract due to his service at the club, fair play.

Question now is where Clough generally intends to play him, he can play pretty much anywhere, we still need a CB to free Hawkins back upfront.

Least we know we can keep him there if need be though, it’s a really encouraging signing.

The last 2 transfer windows were, well - not great. it’s nice to see we’ve strengthened this time round.

We signed good players in the summer but just left ourselves short at CB, but yeah last January not so much!

Hasn't he just signed a new contract? Why would he do that if being played out of position?
He wasn't played at Centre half or anything. He was played as an attacking midfielder as we had (have) awful injury problems this season. Playing there He wasn't a goal threat at all. He is only a ten to fifteen man anyway so it isn't really a surprise He is on the low side.

Yeah just listened to Flickers and looks like we’d done a deal with Bolton for Dennis Politic but the Italians came in at the last minute. Shame on that one.

Aye was a interesting discussion with him in general. Does love his business buzzwords does Flitcroft at times but at the same time he knows what he’s doing and DC can do the plain English stuff.

As for Politic it’s unfortunate but at least we tried and to be honest I wouldn’t want us to break our wage structure for someone who we can’t even guarantee a starting spot. That’s how clubs get themselves in trouble financially. On the plus side we’ve further enhanced our reputation as somewhere for bigger clubs to send their best young players.

Don't think there will be anymore rotting journeymen now Adams has his own scouting network in place

Politic going has held up Rodney coming to us been told today the rumour is true and would have been done this week waiting on you signing a replacement first if my info is reliable of course lol

That would tally up. If it was down to me I'd let him go irrespective of finding a replacement as just don't see a future for him here at Vale now. The problem for him is after a year other teams at this level are smarter than down below and figured out how to stop him and he doesn't really have any other strings to his bow. As you know DC ain't shy of switching to all kinds of formations etc and none have got a tune out of him this season sadly.

Lucas Akins was a club legend. Will miss him. He scored so many important goals, including some memorable ones in the championship.
Good penalty taker.
I think, in honesty he has lost some of his edge - so league 2 is probably more his level now, so
If you go up you have a dilemma as to how you play him as he can’t last 90 mins.
Clough has been after him since he left so we knew this was coming.
Thanks for the memories Lucas lad, you will always be welcome in de14.

Will almost certainly go straight into the starting team with us - the only out and out forwards we have on the books are the two young loanees (Andrews and Cashman), neither of whom had played league football before this season. Both have shown promise, but not consistently and can drift out of games.

City have Cook, Vernam, Angol and Robinson (and maybe others) to compete against for a starting place.
Got a soft spot for Dale so hope he does well, after Saturday of course.

Permanent signing apparently as well not a loan.Do you think he would fit into a 4231 formation as thats what we always play?

Actually I do but probably not as the man up top. Left side of the three would be ideal for him. It’s the one formation DC hasn’t played. Fancy sending us Rory Holden in a straight swap? :)

This is one of those with a pinch of salt but saw on a Vale Facebook group we might be in for Matty Lund at Salford.

Don’t go there. We had Lund for a bit and couldn’t get him out quick enough.

I liked Lund when he was here but he was an erratic nutcase on the pitch.

The type of player to fly into tackles two footed in the middle of the pitch for zero reason and just be an idiot. I remember him getting sent off against Port Vale when him and Worrall tried to square up to each other after the full time whistle.

Lund spent most of his time Saturday trying to get sent of the dirty bastard, it’s not a surprise though as like when we had him he’s got the mobility of a scarecrow. Some of our fans did rate him if I remember but he wasn’t for me, to immobile. Salford look shit in general, whether that’s the players, Bowyer or a mixture is another argument though.

Still on his recovery from long term injury mate hoping he will be back very soon though now cracking player Rory the injury actually kept him here as there was interest from Sunderland at the time it happened.Thats interesting as we have just lost Otis khan who was playing in the left attacking role.

Won't be playing on Saturday. Still suspended after a couple of red cards at Darlo, I think.

Completely forgot about that one with Worrall.

To be honest someone with a nasty streak in the middle is probably something we could do with. As I say though this is very much a case of take with a pinch of salt though he was left on the bench against us midweek.

I think we were the first club to really give him an opportunity. He was always an honest, hard working player for us and I have watched his career with interest.

Les Parry was a very limited manager but he did spot potential in Akins.

Will depend very much on how you use him. He's great when you've got your foot on the gas. He can move the ball about quicker than most, doesn't lose the ball and can play killer passes. Very tidy on the ball. Can ping corners in superbly if you've got players that can get their heads on to the end of them. However, we also used him more defensively quite a bit on the road and while he's competent enough there at the level below this he's definitely wasted there. He's not big so he doesn't do that well in scrappy matches, but he will get stuck in and he while he can certainly win the ball he'll get outfought a lot by more experienced and physically stronger players.

6:55ish here, he's no 26 winning the freekick and banging it in in injury time to win it.

2:05ish here for a lovely pass through to Sousa who gets the assist for Taylor.

Hopefully he does well, however I'm really not sure if he's cut out for a relegation battle in L2. If you're expecting a 21 year old lad who has barely played in the Football League to come in and carry you then it suggest things are bad. Really hope he does well for you as there's a quality player in there.
He's far too lightweight to be asked to be a defensive midfielder

Sounds like Zanzala was close to joining us on loan but chose to join Exeter instead.

Must have been the easiest choice of his life.

Would you have been able to stump up the £1,800 p/w that he's allegedly being paid?

Interesting that. He may not start when Sam Nombe returns from injury, though he already seems to have struck up a friendship with Jevani Brown so maybe he's just happy being somewhere else

O'Keefe is good going forward but imho a bit lightweight defensively. He is also prone to falling over too easily.

We need him back, because basically; we have no-one else !!

Who else wants him?
