Odd little flurry of signings, none that catch the eye really (apart from Devitt but that is for different reasons) while Clough leaves. A couple of academy loanees amongst them, but I gotta put some faith in Millen's scouting for that as his last two of those are at least decent compared to what we expect of that particular demographic. The eyes will be on Dennis and Sho-Silva, are they decent forwards who can carry us into next season into league one or are they panic buys from the back of Holsworth's notepad?

Shame we never got to see Clough at his best. He did look a very tidy player at times and I kept hoping that in the right formation or the right playing style, or even next season with a better team around him he might come alive but it was not to be.

Strange one is Devitt. Are you right it's only 18 months since he left HG? Feels longer, didn't he leave at the end of the Sheridan / Pressley season? Since leaving injury and age means his stock has plummeted but I know some fans will be over the moon to have him back and maybe that's a calculated move on the part of the board.

I can see why we’ve signed Dennis. Hopefully he improves us.

Yeah Dennis' scoring record has been extremely good at certain points in his career, admittedly some of those at non league level. Then a lot of his career has been mediocre but it clearly means he knows how to score if we can create the right conditions for him.

Dennis is a great finisher. Doesn’t really do anything else at all to be honest, but give him half a chance in the box and he’ll pretty invariably take it.

He is a relegation magnet though, be warned.

7 signings this window so we've been quite busy. Not sure we've improved much, if at all really. Walker looks decent and Bass had a really good debut but that's it. Think we've just wasted money needlessly really. Clearly given up on this season so what's the point of bringing so many in.

Oh yeah you take the punt for sure, but the hit rate for signings like that must be pretty low. He’s got surprise free transfer move to Gateshead in a year or two all over him.
