Evans got a right tune out of Danny Rose, and I expect him to do it again.

Difficult to hear the tune when you are on the ground the whole game.

I know we didnt create a ton of chances but he just never ever remotely looked like even threatening the goal, let alone scoring.

More interested in throwing himself to the ground, winding up the opposition / fans, getting himself or others booked, attempting a bicycle kick.

Seems like a decent enough chap but one of the most disappointing signings we have made in a while. Puzzles me why he featured so often off the bench tbh.

He's not a complete donkey, but his only use is coming on to defend a lead by winning free kicks and wasting time. He's not going to contribute offensively. One goal every 15 games isn't an enviable record.

Our first signing is now confirmed, midfielder Sam bowen has joined from Cardiff City following in the footsteps of his father (Jason).

Mika Mandron has confirmed he is leaving us this summer. Disappointing as he would have been very decent at this level but I'm not shocked he is going.

Good player. Would have no objection to him coming to Dale, but I suspect his destination will be elsewhere..

Leaked photo on twitter of a player doing a media shoot. Looks like a renewal for Levi Sutton but also seen people say it looks like Will Grigg.

The quality in that picture is so poor it could be Levi Sutton or Mr T!

Five signings and other than Walker, not a lot to get excited about. My winning the league under Hughes by November hope not looking as strong.

Say this for Bradford they're clearly targeting certain players/characteristics and landing them while not falling into the "marquee" signing trap. As said earlier there's definite parallels with what we did last summer, may not be flashy but doesn't need to be.

It appears as though we’re bulking the squad at present. I believe the keeper from Southampton will be number one, unless Hornby comes back into the equation and impresses Hughes during pre-season. Jamie Walker, obviously is a starter. Platt, Young and East appear to be fringe/rotational players.

Still awaiting decisions from Paudie O’Connor (Champ and L1 interest), Elliot Watt, Charles Vernam and Levi Sutton. There’s a possibility with East signing, Sutton could be on his way. I think Watt and Vernam will sign new deals - meaning we’ll lose Paudie to a club further up the footballing pyramid - fair enough.

Given some big earners have left, and our playing budget has increased from last season (edging very near to the £3m mark), and the signings thus far don’t scream ‘he must’ve cost a bit’, I think we’ll roll out the expensive signings/higher profile players nearer towards the 20th June (deadline for ST - early bird).

Very steady early signings from Bradford I’d say.

Going back to Jan 2020 when Vernam joined Bradford from Burton, I believe we was also keen on signing him then and he was on our radar - We need another wide forward player now, not sure if we will go back in for him again though or if he is still on our radar NOW. I've heard no rumours, just putting this out there for discussion.

Can't really give you a lot of information about him. He made 16 appearances apparently but was very much a back up to Louis Reed. From memory whenever he played he was a neat and tidy midfielder who never did too much wrong but didn't stand out particularly. I guess his main failing was that he wasn't Louis Reed, which of course wasn't his fault. He seemed to be a handy player to have on the bench but was never really going to get much game time behind Reed, Payne, Williams, Gladwin etc and was probably going to be 5th or 6th choice. Glad he's got a good club though, it will be interesting to see how he does with a bit of proper playing time.

I agree we have already said we are looking to sign players who fit possession based football, so even though he wasn’t a regular I suppose Swindon is a sensible club to look at even though he wasn’t a starter.

We’ve played 4231 all season yet only had one holding midfielder as the other had to play CB, that’s not acceptable the squad is totally imbalanced. So even if Elliot Watt leaves which won’t surprise me as he’s wanted higher up then we still need arguably 3 more holding midfielders as Watt had to play 90 minutes every week often with a winger out of position beside him.

This is meant as no disrespect but other than Proctor(because he’d played for us) and Wilson due to his fall from Man United I’d not heard of much of Vale’s business but you were in the top 3 sides we faced this season, and you are favourites for promotion imo it’s about more than flashy names at this level. But maybe that’s just a lack of lower league knowledge from me!

Plus the season hasn’t actually ended yet, our CEO has said we’ll be doing business right up to the wire. We’re still waiting on 3 key players to make their mind up on contracts that’s when I expect the first 11 to start taking shape, which wasn’t too bad when fully fit but we had to play Robinson as lone striker for about 10 week when Cook was injured!

Aye exactly, in amongst that the players signed so far are also ones they will have looked at in terms of what they project into maybe in terms of resale value etc. It's just being smart. It's the clubs who bring in a "name" with a view to season ticket sales etc that usually get it wrong. There's a reason a "name" would be a fourth division player and it's either that they're no good anymore or they are trouble off the field.

A number of our fans were wondering the same with one or two of them being brought in. Basically your usual Wikipedia scouts where they ignore everything else such as what role the club has in mind etc just their goal to game ratio and have I heard of him comes into it. Proctor when he signed wasn't exactly prolific beforehand but give him a defined role and a partner in Wilson who can do all the stuff he doesn't (and vice versa) and its worked. Not all of them may work but then it never does as it's not an exact science. Even those we moved on such as Ryan Johnson we made a profit out of.

Exactly what we’ve done for years now, try impress the fans with a name no actually system in place. Let’s be honest if any of us were an owner/CEO/Manager last thing we’d do is listen to fans who all have about 10 different opinions on how things should be done that’s when you get in trouble.

As for Proctor he’s never a sexy signing but he’s always appreciated at whatever club he’s at can do a number of roles and always makes the ball stick up top. In 15/16 our first playoff season in league 1 I can still remember 2 games over Easter, Millwall at home and Crewe away he dominated them both and them 6 points we vital to securing a playoff spot. We’d never have ended in them with the guy he replaced Devente Cole, but hey his dad was good so he must be…

You'll be happy with Swindon's 9th choice midfielder and damn well like it.

Let's wait and see Cas. A few years ago we signed names that should have finished in the play offs. We finished 24th. MH seems to know what he wants and has clearly been working before the season ended

Our almost certain player of the year was an Oldham reject who their fans said he was crap last season... he banged in 12/13 goals from midfield and has been outstanding so you never know!

Still remember Darlington fans on here laughing at us for signing Akpo Sodje as he was crap... year later he left us for £325k!
