Doesn't always work like that though does it? Birmingham paid £2 million for Sam Cosgrove before loaning him to us, and he turned out to be toilet.

I like having the option of Hudlin but pretty sure he won't be our main striker and that now the Rudi business is done we'll move for at least one more striker too.
Yes I agree. The least said about Cosgrove the better!!! I'm sure we will be signing another forward with the 800 grand or thereabouts we got for Rudoni.

Ipswich want 600k for Tyrese Simpson. It's a lot of money but a shrewd investment and still only 19/20 years old.

Bryn Morris confirmed for a year. If Hurst can reignite his previous form then it’s a decent signing but that’s on hold until he’s played at least 10 games. Probably the injury risk signing we make this summer.

He’s a bit of a crab tbf. Sideways or backwards. Doesn’t really grab games by the scruff of the neck, but he’s a passable central midfielder.

Swindon going berserk. Absolutely berserk. Fair play to them. Don't know who their manager is but the cameras are going to be on him right from the start of play when it all starts.
Expectation slowly building now...will be red hot in two weeks time when we have a striker or two.

Pressure will be huge on untested Scott Lindsay (Assistant manager last term).

Our fans can be right whingy fuckers when it starts to go wrong when we've signed nothing but freebies and loans, let alone spending money on players.

Don't even know how good these players are but 100% the supporters will have promotion on their minds now.

Haha okay. Still waiting for your reply to my post when you said we'd taken the crap Halifax CB and I responded to say we'd taken the only one that was in the TOTY? Halifax fans have been saying we've taken their best two players so I'll trust them on this I reckon.
Just passing it on, SOC, chill brother. I've seen Green play, he's not expansive but he'll put a shift in. Solid signing if you've not gone over the top on the fee.

Bradbury was Halifax's most sought after centre half, I know this from a couple of our scouts. Think he ended up in League One. I didn't trust TOTY when they had none of our midfield trio in despite them being the key to our title win. Didn't they also put Palmer from us in? If so, yeah I wouldn't read much into that. I love Ash but he's not one of the best defenders in the league. We've more or less tried to replace him this summer for going into League 2.

600k would be a lot for us to spend.I think we are more likely to go for a more experienced forward.. We already have a few younger one's.

Nope it was Waterfall and Maher in the Vanarama team. Think Palmer was in Adam Virgo's team maybe? And yeah nobody is saying Green is gonna be expansive. Not sure why you're using that adjective as a yard stick. He's been brought in to run his arse off play a high pressing game.

Hutton very suspect defensively and got caught napping numerous times which cost us goals. However, last season he seemed the only one trying to get the ball in the box during our boring style of football. I wish him all the best as he was an honest committed player but I don't see it as a massive loss. Wild obviously thinks he's replaceable.

Just giving a general view of what he's like from when I've watched him. You do get touchy, pal.

I shared that scout report as it interested me at the time that's all and I do remember Green being on it.

Be a solid signing I reckon. That alright for ya?

Yeah he seems more a ‘tidy’ player than dynamic, which I’m fine with. Hurst seemed to get the best out of him (5 years ago) so we’ll see how it pans out. I’m happy to just be solid this season rather than too expansive.

So Swindon have spent £2-3m today? That’s quite a lot for this level

Oops didn't see the previous post by Big Bird. I reckon one more CB and maybe another forward and we're done. We've only got 2 loan signings as well which is unheard of for us.

Presume Evans from Swansea will be the CB. Not sure if we’ll get another striker though.

Yeah think Evans will be done next week. Maybe not a striker but a 'forward' like that ex Villa player now playing in Cyprus.
Yeah, that Hepburn-Murphy fella. Touted as a wonder kid when he played for Villa at 16. Bubble burst as he’s now playing in Cyprus.

It’s all very well creaming at the signings and the fact we’ve paid money for a number of them, but we have little idea if they’re actually any good yet.

Suppose that applies to most signings at our level.

Nothing like realising all your signings are shit half an hour into the first game. What a feeling.

I think you are right. A load of fans are going to get carried away with these signings but you and I both have no idea how they will do. Its a lot of new players to blend in with the current group with an inexperienced manager and a hugely expectant fan base. Will it work? God knows, looks like it's going to be fun though!

No one below league one is spending that on one player despite what people may say there clubs are spending.

At this level Bryn is a very solid signing IF you can get more than 10 games out of him which seems to be the issue.

Was very solid for us when he played only issue is it wasn’t often enough, which is the reason others have mentioned he wasn’t given a contract.

These two signings have made me feel better about the squad, Green will be an excellent addition I’m sure, we very rarely pay for players and Hurst wouldn’t do it if he didn’t rate him highly.

Morris, we know what we’re getting, I doubt we’ve had him pencilled in for starting 30+ games but if we can get him performing for 20 games I think we’d all be happy enough.

Onto the main event though, where’s Swindons money come from?!

Scott Twine sell on will be helping. Not sure if our new owner would have put some money in the pot even before Twine going though? Not ITK at all but he did say the budget will be 40% higher than last season. Looks like we are seeing that now!
