David Tutonda on a 6 month loan deal and Stephane Zubar on a 1 month deal confirmed.

Does anyone want a left back or left wing back? We now have shit loads of them.
I'm a little more optomistic after these signings. Tutonda ripped us a new one last season and Zubar was excellent, gives us the pace we need at the back. The first 11 now has enough to keep us well out of trouble, but that's without injuries.

Connor Roberts signed on loan from Swansea this morning, goes straight into the team today at right back.

Why on earth would he do that ? :eyes::dk:

Didn't want to be 4th choice in league Two, plus he's a well-regarded coach and runs a number of soccer schools in Kent. Probably making more playing part-time than what we'll have offered him.

As for Ben Chorley, he was on a downward slope about three years ago, so I dread to think how over-the-hill he is now. Hard man, never shirks a tackle, but his movement is very poor and he loves blaming his teammates for his own mistakes.

We have Kaid Mohamed training with us apparently. He was okay in our embarrassing relegation team two seasons ago but I'm not sure he'd be a good signing. Decent for strength in depth I guess, but an uninspiring addition if we do bring him in.

Really ? Ffs, the bloke is barely fit enough for full time football these days .

Supposedly a deal of £7m + £2m add-ons for Andre Gray has been agreed between Brentford and Hull City. That would net us initially somewhere between £960,000 and £1,280,000 for his sell on fee in addition to the £600,000 paid last summer by the Bees.

Would we also be eligible to an additional £300,000-£400,000 should the add-ons be enforced?

£30,000 well spent Brabs!

That'll do nicely - promotion has to be on now with that in the bank as well.

And to think Marsh-Brown at the start of that season looked a similar prospect (not saying there are/were of similar levels) but 1 clearly put his head down and grafted.

...and to think some on this forum and its predecessor thought he wasn't the best player in the Conference and "not that good".

:2thumb:

He'll go on and play for England. I'm Andre's biggest fan but I didn't think he'd be pushing for Premier League football, got to be honest.

Still extremely early for you to say he'll play for England. I don't think he's technically good enough for that.

Matt Green is better, he broke the Birmingham 100m record.

This Andre Gray business shows that some fans really have no idea on what they're talking, and how little they know about football. I'm referring to those guys who used to post on the conference board of the old forum. Some said he was nothing special, and some said he'll go cheaply, when even the most naive footy fan could plainly see they were wrong.

Even in the January window of our Conference pissing season, there were multiple posters saying he would never be sold for more than £250k. Crazy! It's really no wonder he took the piss at Conference level when you see how quick and strong he is even in comparison to Championship defenders, the goal he scored on Saturday being a prime example of that. Pace and power like his is just so difficult to defend against. He misses chances but he gets into good positions and with raw attributes like his, he will always get a couple of chances a game.

I think he's got another big move left in him after this one if he keeps progressing at his current rate. I worry a bit that Steve Bruce will work his magic and ruin another promising career though

£30,000 well spent Brabs!

It's 20% of any profit over £600,000, so the high end of your estimate range.

If the additional money all came in then he'd probably be in our top 5 highest money sales of all time, which is decent going considering he had a year left on his contract and had never scored a goal in the Football League.

That'll do nicely - promotion has to be on now with that in the bank as well.

Can't see it going into the playing budget. That's already been increased significantly so I expect this money will be used to give our investors a year off. Maybe if we get to January and are in the thick of the promotion mix the board may sanction a big deal or two to get us over the line (as they did in the Conference winning season with the permanent signing of Pelly Ruddock).

I'd put him in the Dwight Gayle bracket. Top end Championship player but won't play regularly in the PL. Good to see a few non-leaguers make the step up though.

Izale appears to be on strike.

He is not in the team photos, he has not trained and Yates has spoken to the pfa regarding him.

He will obviously be leaving but I doubt it will be for another league 2 club as the reason he wants out is he doesn't want to play at this level. Could change though.

Casey

He's being sold to the first club that has a large enough stash of babies' dummies.

Can't believe the 'Jack Payne to Orient' saga is still rumbling on. Posh not budging on price, we're not budging on our offer. What a waste of everyone's time, especially the player's.

Odds on him moving to a random League One club on deadline day and us panic buying Josh Wright for £200,000 :£

Yep, I'd go along with that. However, he's already surpassed my expectations of him.

Our investors choose to put their hands in their pockets - it just solidifies our finances and gives us room to manoeuvre should we need to. These investors, for what its worth, at the last count had funded the club to the tune of £15m!

In fairness, our title winning season in the conference Green was a better player than Gray, that showed in the goals.

However, Gray has blossomed and definitely has age on his side. Granted only seen highlights of him, but that pace and power is insane.

Agreed.

To be fair Green was under-rated by everybody else in the conference purely because he was a Mansfield player, he played uptop on his own all season but that combination of power, pace and general ability gives him everything you want in a striker. Only downfall that season was he scored about 30 goals but going on chances he should of had another 10 on top!

People even use to say Hearn was better, which was always ridiculous.

Gray was 21 years old that season. He had been playing part-time for Hinckley since 2009 and was still playing in a far worse team than Green at the time (7th vs 1st, 70 goals vs 92 goals). He was also predominantly played as a right winger throughout the season. Gray still managed 17 goals (all from open play, he only took one penalty and missed it) and 9 assists from 44 league appearances.

Green was outstanding that season, no question about it. But IMHO it was always absolutely clear that Gray had the potential to far outstrip anyone in the league at that time.

Fuck me, the Green vs Gray debate is back

Bottom line is, Green was fantastic for us over two season, fully deserved his move to the Championship & has been unlucky with injuries to progress & succeed at that level (hence him being back with us now).

Gray was a bright young player for Luton at the same time, with enormous potential that has now started to come to fruition. Luton can be very proud they paid a small fee for him & are now reaping the rewards.

Why do we have to go into who's better or not, they are both at different stages in their careers.

Apparently there have been a few bids for our 'wonderkid' Jodi Jones. Came through our youth system and played a few times last year and Charlton are apparently interested, as well as a number of other clubs.

I've hardly seen him so can't really comment but I'd be surprised if he was still our player come September. We need the money. I just hope we get a decent wedge for him.

To be fair, that's pretty much what I was getting at in my post.
