we desperately need 2 central defenders , like we’ve needed for the last 2 seasons, though i suspect clough will sign a midfielder and a goalkeeper and put them in defence.

BIG transfer window for clough, the natives are starting to get restless.

Nixon linking DJ to Colchester this morning no offence but if we cannot compete with them for players what are we doing?

The claim is that Mansfield don't want him banging goals in for a potential playoff rival, so he'll be off elsewhere.

Jake Young at Bradford to us is another rumour at our end.

He could do with a loan move. Doesn't even make the bench. He looked quite useful at the beginning of the season scoring a couple of good goals.

He has been nowhere to be seen last 3 months or so, and he's not injured.

Danny Johnson is really someone we should be in for, northern lad, but we won't be getting anyone that level in

Apparently it's just come from Twitter so probably nothing in it. What sort of striker is he nevertheless? I don't think I've ever seen him play before.

Young was back up to the FGR strikers that scored a shed full between them last season.

We signed him in the summer, and as expected no more than back up here too.

He is very direct and a decent shot on him and I think would suit a 4-3-3 formation on the left. He had a tendency to switch off in the few games he has played for us, and lost possession cheaply. Still only fairly young and needs a run of games somewhere to be honest.

We've just signed Matt Derbyshire so Young will be pushed even further down the pecking order here

Twitter rumours of Daniel Dodds coming in. A RB from Boro who’s been on loan at Darlo.

Not a clue what he’s like but already know he can’t be worse than Tumilty so I’d take it

Seemingly absent from their lineup today despite being ever present.

Don’t wanna speak for the loids but I believe he’s been a stand out player for them, hope it’s a permanent deal as opposed to another loan, as is often the case they look the nuts on loan and move on from us to someone else.

I wouldn’t break the bank for DJ.

I’d push the boat out a bit - two and a half years , best paid player - but I wouldn’t push it miles out.

At near thirty he’s had two half seasons of purple patch. We might just count ourselves lucky one of those was with us and move on if Mansfield are playing silly beggars.

I think it’s just a case of if another team is offering more money then we would rather that, nowt silly about it.

If we do sign him he will be greeted on Twitter with stuff like ‘All we ask for is hard work, as long as you work hard you’ll be loved’ before he goes 2 or 3 games without scoring and then everybody on Twitter starts telling him that he’s shit.

Cheers, appreciate that. What's your take on the Derbyshire signing? Seems like a bit of an odd one to me given where he's been in recent seasons. I'm guessing Hughes knows and trusts him from Blackburn? It's one of those signings that could quite conceivably be either inspired or an absolute stinker.

We were close to signing Derbyshire in the summer, not sure why, but it fell through.

Hughes obviously had Derbyshire at his peak in the Premiership at Blackburn many moons ago and has now managed to get the signing over the line now.

By all accounts, still a fit lad at 36 years old. Contrary to a fair few of our fans concerns about his age and the fact he hasn't played in England for 6 years, I actually have a good feeling about this signing.

A young kid who‘s been on loan at a NLN team is not what we need as far as I’m concerned.
You just know we’ll wait until the last minute of the transfer window,to save a couple of weeks wages & end up with the dregs.

It's a gamble whoever you get, I'd much rather have someone like this kid who's been out playing games regular and getting rave reviews albeit two levels below, than getting lumped with the likes of Will Goodwin/Ellis Taylor types who are so green behind the ears they may as well be a lettuce.

Interesting one our end tonight Danny Johnson back to Orient if it's credible of course.
Can't see it myself, he burnt a few too many bridges here I think last time with the heirachy.

Having said that Wellens in his interview today has said, time to get the cheque book out and bring in a striker.

We've also got no centre backs now for next Saturday - Beckles is banned, Happe picked up a nasty injury today, Ogie picked up a knock and Adam Thompson isn't fit after 4 months out.

Wellens said we need to bring in a centre half for Saturday, depending on Happe and Ogies injurys I have no idea if these will be loans or not.

All confirmed now but Saxon Earley has been recalled from his loan by Norwich and has been sold to Plymouth. I said after the Crawley game it was going to be a blow to lose him. At the start of the season he was very much a rotation option with Max Clark at left wing back but as the season went on he grew into the role and made the position his own. No surprise to see interest from higher up the pyramid, definitely looks like a player bound for a career in the Championship/League One.

Steve Evans seemed to suggest in an interview that we have a replacement lined up but no idea who at this point.

After today's game Evans confirmed we've all but signed Jake Forster-Caskey from Charlton. Apparently we're just waiting for the medical reports or something along those lines, should be announced officially tomorrow.

According to the realefl site (no idea if credible - but they had the Forster-Caskey story on the site this morning before Evans confirmed it this evening) they're saying Gilbey will be staying and that Arthur Read is on route to Colchester.

Shame for us to be losing Arthur Read, but understandable move for all parties. I like Read, undoubtedly a decent footballer on his day, plenty of ability and has a good delivery on him. Some games would just drift by and you'd forget he was playing, other games he'd look like one of the best out there. Felt he was a useful member of the squad but with Forster-Caskey coming in he'd fall further down the pecking order so a move somewhere for more first team football makes sense for everyone.

Agree, the lad can play across the backline as well. Probably not a starter when Sterry is fit but we need numbers in there. I'd rather have him to call on than Shelton at centre half/right back or Missilou at left back. We can't be in that situation again.

Us and Wimbledon looked at JFC last summer, good player for down here if he can stay fit.

He would have to be a starter the boro won,t let him leave to warm the bench, He,s to good.

Not only us after him so may not happen anyway.

He would be anyway, he only has to be better than Nice Guy Tumilty or the persistently knackered Sterry

The boro must think the NLN is no longer testing him so would probably slow his progress.

We would more or less have gurantee first team football.

Not sure how creditable this "agent" is:

I know our heirachy have been monitoring him and looking at this for a few months now though.

The info might be bob on, but that's a stock image, deffo fake, I mean, same profile has this further down

Been told our Centre half Dan Happe is now out for the rest of the season, huge blow for us and him - thats two seasons in a row now he's ended up missing the second half of a season due to a nasty injury.

We will have to bring in a centre half in now at some point.
