you've obviously signed him as a replacement for Andy Cook.... not saying where he might be going..... but
Well I'd hope not considering Costelloe is a winger.

I’m sure we will ask that, there is a planned forum but no date set as of yet, guesswork would suggest it was a way of getting funds in to the club before the takeover was complete.

Mandron has indeed left (mutual termination) and signed for Motherwell.
Yeah wasn't a barb (people in glass houses and all that), our old owners did the exact same way to fund the club and there wasn't any ulterior motives.

Fingers crossed that’s why it happened anyway but he does seem a genuinely good guy who talks a lot about giving back to the community. I hope we copy you guys in that respect and put a lot of effort in to setting up a decent community trust (and I think we will), already talk of getting Gills ladies back under the club name too.

Lots of positivity around the club at the moment, despite our dire league position.

Burnley supporting mate says he is a striker who can play on either wing too. So who knows where Mark Hughes will play him.

I have a feeling Cook will be sold this window

Selling a striker who has scored sixteen? Who scores the goals if he goes?

Problem being as fans you’re usually completely out of the picture and even if you were there’s little you can do.

In the days of being in the conference we had 3 mansfield fans who owned us but couldn’t keep us going, we were weeks from admin and possible relegation when radford came in.

As it is we’ve been extraordinarily fortunate to have him and he’s been an absolute dream of a chairman, in a parallel universe it could’ve been someone dodgy came along, saw how bad things were and knew we’d have little choice and who knows.

I’d always hope that new owners for clubs are decent and genuine, as one things for sure the FA and the league don’t give a fuck ala macclesfield.

As mentioned, Dara Costello joins on loan from Burnley. Featured 6 times for them in the league this season, so must be half decent.

Problem is, where the fuck do you play him.

Here are our attacking options: Andy Cook, Vadaine Oliver, Matt Derbyshire, Jamie Walker, Scott Banks, Abo Eisa, Harry Chapman, Dion Pereira, Harry Chapman, Thierry Nevers and Jake Young.

12 players fighting for a maximum 4 spots.

Pereira, I imagine will go back to Luton. I have a feeling Cook might leave, or even Oliver for that matter. Jake Young will go out on loan.

All very good players for any club in this league, truth be told.

Worth mentioning - I think Pereira has played for Luton this season, so if he does go back, he’s heading on loan to a conference side. But he’s far too good for that level.

Since we’re hell bent on signing Hartlepool lads this window give us one of your Harry Chapmans..

One of the first names on the team sheet.

Can I force your hand with a Jake Young?

Frustrating player Chapman, works hard but runs down so many dead ends a game. This Burnley lad sounds a decent player but it just pushes the same players who weren’t getting a look in even further down the pecking order.
I can’t help but feel with every signing made that we’re just signing players for the sake of it and there’s zero planning involved - we don’t need a million wide players, we do need a centre mid, do we really need a long time past it Matt Derbyshire? Do we need another loanee who could only manage seven starts at Newport? Are we signing players to fit a system or are we just bulk buying whatever we can.

Word is Matt has been signed as a possible replacement for DJ if Mansfield continue to fuck us about but we do still want him but wont be held to ransom ideally we want both but dont think we will know anything until next week his loan expires after our game against Tranmere.

I personally wouldn't sell him. I just don't think he is in Hughes' plans.

He started the season on the bench, the striker Hughes brought in Vadaine Oliver underwhelmed first few games, in comes Cook and couldn't stop scoring, so difficult for Hughes to drop him.

Cook had a poor game at Carlisle on Boxing Day, missing a couple of sitters that would have given us an undeserved victory. I think this was Hughes chance to drop him and bring Oliver back in and change formation which resulted in 2 wins in 5 days over Harrogate and Salford.

Cook hasn't started since, and only got 10 mins on Tuesday when we were chasing an equaliser against Rochdale.

I think we have had enquiries and once Matt Derbyshire is up and running, I reckon we will sell Cook whilst we can get a fee, he is out of contract in the summer

That's 10 players not 12, unless we have 2 Harry Chapmans which would make 11!

Still too many in my opinion, but think Cook and Young will be leaving this window, possibly Pereira

Matt and Johnson would be a good strike force to have. If you can’t keep Johnson then Matt doesn’t seem a like for like
forward replacement and you might have to adapt how you play? While I always felt we’d lose out to Walsall over Matt, he would have done well at Tranmere with how we play at present.

I must’ve been well oiled by this point.

I think a deal will be sorted, sounds like we may be looking at doing some business in the attacking positions and I don’t think it’s going to be a cheap so will definitely like to get him off the books.

Got to admit I'm disappointed Laps has chosen Gillingham over a league one move to Ipswich. They'll be some force in this league next season. Them v Hollywood for the title. Hope we somehow manage to get up in the play offs this year!

That’s gone down like a lead balloon with our lot.

Truth is, Hughes sees him every day in training. There’s a reason why he can’t even make the bench.

I’m confused as to if I should wish him luck or not, unusual loaning someone out to the team next to you in the league.

Got to hope they gel quick enough and don’t go in the ‘overpaid shambles’ scenario or it be in non-league. It’s happened before, Notts County spent half a million+ on transfer fees and got relegated the same season.

Hard to see why Young has been bombed out after a good start, hope he does well at Barrow but that’s two teams now (FGR previously) where he can’t get starts in the first team.

Paul Simpson has confirmed that we did match Stockport's bid for Jack Stretton but were unable to match their wages. This is what we heard at the time but then some United fans were also quick to say it was rubbish or at least that there was no evidence that we'd tried to sign him.

According to Simpson, what Stockport were offering him was 'way above' our current highest earner. Make of that what you will but Stretton is a young and fairly inexperienced player who hasn't been a regular starter for us and is currently injured in any case. Maybe Stockport see more potential in him, and feel it's a low risk decision, they have had him on loan before... but also maybe Stockport's standard wage for young inexperienced players is higher than many other clubs' standard wage for their most valuable assets.

Happy with Jake Young signing! Has been the best player on the pitch a couple of times we've faced him. And probably a replacement for Josh Kay when he signs for Northampton.
