On a side note I am finding it interesting that Salford are doing g almost nothing this window as of yet.

Their first season with a chance and the first winter window they do nothing.

Ground move off, only 2000 yesterday with a £5 entrance fee, not sacked the manager yet in their annual way.

Either they decided to run sensibly or interest is waining
They signed Callum Morton

Heard something today that Harvey Saunders could be swapping with Ethan Bristow. Any news your end ?
There’s been a lot of rumoured interest in Bristow, but haven’t heard that one. If he does go expect there will be a fee involved, only 6 months into a 2 year deal. Don’t know much about Saunders, we do need a striker but his stats aren’t great.

It won't be a straight swap for Bristow. He is one if our best players with 2 1/2 years left on his contract, so we would want a substantial fee.

Is Saunders any good ?

Should definitely use some of their millions on the pitch rather than bang average players. Guess with potential move didn’t make sense but if staying needs to be done.

He has only has the occasional minutes from the bench for the past year. He started off really well here and was scoring until he suffered a bad injury at Bradford that kept him out for a while.
Hasnt had many chances due to the attacking players we have and the year we've had, but I like him and he always has a good impact when brought on. He will do well in L2 with a run of games

Hate to say it but it looks like Mansfield are doing some really good business this window. Louis Reed in particular is an annoyingly good signing. Some money going at it to try and get promotion this year, as I doubt Reed alone would have been cheap? the right age, key player from what looks like a potential promotion rival?

He’s been poor this season, though. 6 months left on his contract. Makes sense to sell him now.

So, those in the know from any club, who would you take out of the Mansfield in /out?

George Lapslie or Louis Reed?

Who is the better player right now and into the future? Or are they too different to bother comparing?

I know nothing about Lapslie so I can only comment on Reed. He was keen to move back oop norf- from Sheffield. If Clough can get him back to last season’s form I’d guess he’d be the better player. He was our Player of the Season last year and we were noticeably poorer when he didn’t play.

Btw, that Saidou Khan turned in the best performance I’ve seen from a Swindon player for some time on Saturday. Probably another reason we let Reed go.

Lapslie is a unique player skill set wise for L2, play him behind the strikers and he will get you goals and assists but does go missing often too.

Clough said Reed is a replacement for Hartigan who’s out for the season, he’s more of a deeper player who pings it about. It should free up Maris to play further up who’s our best player imo.

Be interesting who we sign to replace Lapslie.

We are spending but it’s coming through funds generated by selling Hawkins and Lapslie to Gillingham, and Danny Johnson will likely be sold too.

We've lost our on loan keeper Arthur Okonkwo. He's been recalled by Arsenal and sent back out on loan to Austrian club Sturm Graz. Massive loss for us, took him a couple of games to find his feet but after that I don't think I saw a better keeper in this league. I wouldnt like to see how many less points we would have had without him.

He was a good player here. I don't why he wasn't played every week, but I'm pleased for the lad that he's doing well for you. Also I saw him a few times in my local Lidl so he's obviously frugal and well grounded. Baller

Fair enough. Surprised you're looking to move Danny Johnson on though, on the face of it his goals would be handy.

Marriot would be a ridiculous signing. Not sure how good Henry is anymore, was absolutely class in L1 a few seasons ago though.
Honestly, I’m sure even we know how good James Henry is anymore!

James Henry is a bit of a funny one. He’s been a brilliant servant to OUFC and has got us out of the mire more than any player in the last 10 years. When he joined there wasn’t much love for James Henry either from the player nor supporters. I don’t think fans really understood the type of player he was and I think of Gills get him, you won’t understand his value for 3-6 months. He requires a lot of patience.

His goals a few seasons back for us out of a relegation scrap. He’s someone that we’ve come to rely on over reason seasons as a bit of a talisman from midfield. His partnership with Taylor for a couple of seasons was unstoppable.

Last season he had a couple of unfortunate injuries which didn’t help and subsequently his years are starting to or have caught up with him. It also hasn’t helped him that he’s no longer surrounded by good players and pace to make up for his lack of.

He’s definitely lost pace, though he wasn’t exactly quick in his prime either. He prefers being occupied out wide but he’s much more effective centrally. He creates and gets 10 goals a season. Very good player, just not cut out for a (supposed) League One promotion chasing side.

He needs to go but it will be sad to see.

Not sure he's exactly what we need in a midfield with 40 year old Sean Williams but we'll see.

He looked a good shot stopper on Boxing Day but I thought he looked really half arsed. Watching him from behind the goal second half I couldn't believe how little he communicated with his defence and he proper bottled out first goal, didn't want to get injured, it was his ball all day.

I was hoping he'd play Saturday, number 2 goalkeepers always have great games against us.

Pools apparently interested in Oli Finney from Crewe.
8 games this season & after breaking his leg last.
This isn't from my usual source,so could be complete bollox.

Crewe fans really rate Finney apparently. Unfortunately for you lot, it's the other Finney that they like not the one you've been linked with.

We are about to announce 1 possibly 2 signings. Apparently one is Jake Cain, Liverpool youngster played 25 times for Newport last season. Any Newport fans wish to provide feedback?

We’ve just cancelled Max Woltman’s loan from Liverpool, not what we need at present

That would be a brilliant signing for you! proper box to box midfielder and hits a mean free kick.

JMD has left us. Hardly the surprise of the century. Expect him to be announced at Yeovil now.

Lincoln have also signed a winger so get announcing Vernam please @officialgtfc. Thanks.

Paid money, too. 2 and a half year contract. Probably used the Reed money.

Signed left back Tolaji Bola from Rovrum, our 83rd loan signing of the season, not the priority centre mid we need but should improve us.

I wasn’t sure whether we needed a new LB at first, but it does make sense.

Foulds has been solid enough but offers us absolutely nothing going forward.

Liam Ridehalgh looks set to leave on the back of this news.

I still think we’ll sign that much needed CM before the window closes.
