Absolutely nothing our end
Our journo now saying he's on the verge of signing, same one who yesterday said nothing was imminent. Our fans got it spot on by the looks of things.

Hughes said he hoped to have another loan in today. Only rumour at the minute is Jaheim Headley from Huddersfield but that seems to be fan talk more than anything.

Like you say, I think Headley is wishful thinking from fans, inckuding me, based on his excellent performance for Hartogate at Valley Parade at Christmas

Young loan goalie Ciaran Slicker has gone back to Man City, and been replaced by somewhat older goalie Jake Eastwood, on loan from Sheff U. Played the last two games of last season for us, during which he let in four against Brovers (but our entire outfield defence was AWOL, and he hadn't much chance with any of them) then kept a clean sheet in a win at Newport (but from all accounts Newport didn't bother trying too hard).

Provides better cover for Richard O'Donnell than we've had previously.

Thanks for the guidance :)

How you feeling about this transfer window so far?
So far so good. It all hinges on whether we flog our better players to be honest. So I won’t rest easy until the deadline has passed. If keeping Moxon and Guy means signing no one else I’ll be good with that.

Yeah, he'd be an upgrade on Foulds but our most pressing need is CM yet there's not even a sniff of a rumour of one coming in.

He won’t sign a new contract so getting a fee for him could be seen as sensible, transfer news at our end is like tumbleweed so the likelihood of us finding out is from opposition supporters.

Essentially a new batch of young loanees. Only one of the last batch was first team and he's still at the club as far as I know (but won't be playing any football for a while even if he does stay on for the second half of the season).

Hopefully they can have a greater impact on our season than the players they've replaced but I do feel we need much more. The promotion race is incredibly tight with more than half the division still well in it, and we shouldn't look at our current position as an indication that we just need to keep doing what we're alredy doing. We've had a good first half of the season but the bar for a good second half will be much higher.

Clubs with resources are going to start spending money and by February most of the teams currently within a few points of each other in the top half of the table will be mid-table outside chance of making the playoffs and that will include us unless we can find a way despite our lack of resources to keep up with Stockports and Bradfords of this world.

We could do with a goal-getter so we're not relying entirely on Dennis and then the midfielders chipping in with a few, we could once again do with cover at right back which seems to be a nightmare for injuries and we could do with a consistent creative attacking midfielder.

Exactly!

We’ve needed a commanding CM to compliment Smallwood before the season started. Gilliead-Smallwood combo doesn’t work.

I said it a few pages back, but someone in the mould of Tim Dieng would be perfect.

Not very good at defending and yet you played him at RCB on occasions?? :bl:
Because we have 3 centre half’s injured and the gaffer wants to play a system with 3 in it, even though Tommy Rowe isn’t a centre half we’ve played him there but he’s injured too, so no other choice. To be fair he’s been ok playing that role but if he’s going to be played as an attacking fullback you need cover because he’s hopeless at that

We always play 3 and wing backs too. Knoyle will be in to be a wing back primarily with Southam Hales' injury, Brown returning to Blackburn and even Crankshaw getting loaned out who can play there. Hopefully he can show himself in his best role

Absolutely staggering that Akil Wright was playing part-time conference north football. Have to admit I was sceptical given the level he came from. Not many make the jump nevermind in their first season. Only have to look at some of our players from that era who moved into the league and struggled.

Think it was only Danny Lloyd who you could argue did it and even he dropped out once he chased the money at Salford.

Agreed. Dieng would've been a good partner for Smallwood.

Keke Simmonds and Bim Pepple to return to Brum and Luton respectively. JMD is coming back from his loan spell at Yeovil, but it's not clear if he's back and going back out somewhere or if he's here to fight for his place. Stephen Wearne has already confirmed he's back from his spell at Torquay to try and get in the team. Bit of chat about whether Lewis Richardson has gone back to Burnley. Glad Simmonds and Pepple have gone, would rather keep Richardson around. Much happier about having Wearne and JMD on the bench than Simmonds and Pepple.
I think Simmonds has shown flashes of ability but Pepple, what the fuck were Luton thinking of there?
Looks National League North/South standard.

We had Eastwood here for a month, not exaggerating one of the worst keepers I’ve ever seen.
Good luck.

Young Centre back Ed Turner has signed from Brighton until the end of the season:

Was always going to be a loan signing, 3 centre backs contracted until next season and Shad Ogie back in 6 weeks.

Left footed too which was important to Wellens, he likes to have that balance in defence.

I'd have Mandron here.
He’s been largely awful, playing wide when he’s up front on his own rather than getting in to the box. Seems to have developed a phobia of shooting too, but then again he’s had absolutely no service.

Ah okay fair, he looked good in L1 last season on the bits I saw and was very good at Blundell Park. I'm not going off a lot admittedly.
Pretty sure that's the one that said we were signing Daniel Sturridge and paying him 10k pw.

Had a feeling he’d end up back at another League Two club.

Talented with potential. Was signed to cover for Harry Smith who wanted to be loaned out as he wasn’t first choice.

Wellens has preferred Charlie Kelman and Aaron Drinan to play in the loan striker role. Wareham scored two well taken goals in the PJT, but when he started in the two league games he didn’t quite make the same impact, mainly because I think he knew he was only cover. Needs a run of games.
