The £250k figure is coming from their fans
Well the Chesterfield fans on thefootballforum who are generally sound (apart from that deranged one that got banned) and know what they're on about have been very clear that for the last few windows that the sell on is at least 400k, unless I've missed something and it's been reduced because he's nearing the end of his contract.

Edit: forgot you can't say football forums (without the space) on here as it corrects it to thefootballforum  but I mean the other site

I’ve had a look on never to be named forum and there wasn’t much there about him, the £250k comes from their Bob’s Board, although a couple of weeks ago they were indeed saying £400-£500k.

I think he was given a new longer contract when he suffered that leg break, but didn’t want to sign without a lower release clause. That’s my reading of it anyway, could of course be completely wrong

Yeah, they definitely re-negotiated his contract at some point last season but my (admittedly sketchy) memory seems to be that they either added the release clause then or increased it at that point. I can't remember if that was before or after leg break though. I do go on there still a bit so next time I'm on I'll ask them.

Oh and to go back on something I just said too, I don't think he's nearing the end of his contract either is he? Sure it was a 3 year deal when he signed.

Stockport County.
Someone on our forum said it was £250k for Tshimanga too tbf. This was before the window opened. He was asking for far too much wages wise apparently hence why we've moved for Olaofe and Stretton. I think Birmingham moving for him has made him think that's his level both in wage and league to be honest. But since then he doesn't even play every week for Chesterfield in the National League and there is rumours about medicals not being great which is why Birmingham pulled out for the money they were paying.

He may need to re-visit his expectations of his next club IMO.

If Tshimanga’s release clause stipulates £250k, I’m surprised he hasn’t left already.

In fact, I’m surprised even we haven’t submitted a bid. £250k isn’t a lot of money - even at this level.

It's a risk though, he isn't the same player he was pre-injury. Certainly physically, but mentally as well going by comments from Chesterfield fans.

Wages will be a stumbling block. We're good payers for this league but apparently his wage demands went higher and higher as January approached. I think he thinks he's too good for this league because of Birmingham being in for him. I can see him having his tail between the legs come the summer which someone may pounce on.

We have had a bid rejected for Aiden Keena, top scorer in the League of Ireland last season. There are several other clubs interested, including moneybags Colchester, so unlikely we will get him.
Was at Pools the other year, but went back to Scotland because of homesickness.
He was a cracking forward,I was gutted he left.
He'd be a great signing for anyone in this league.

Granted.

What will he be on at Chesterfield? £1,500 per week?

Clubs in this league could afford to quadruple his wages.

I would imagine he is on far more than that. If not which clubs in our league would pay him £6k a week, I suspect none

I doubt he’s on much more.

I suspect there’s a few clubs who would pay him £6,000 p/w - City being one of them.

Stockport, Swindon and Salford, too.

I don’t think that’s the issue, it’s the level he sees himself playing at that is, like Stocky said.

We’ve signed a keeper, Jakub Stolarczyk on loan from Leicester.
Midfielder from Bristol Rovers coming in, Zain Westwood.
30+ games for Coventry winning promotion to the Championship.
46 games for Rovers also.
Sound just the ticket.

Actually his name is Westbrook. I don't want to piss on your fire but that is exactly what I thought when signing him from Coventry. He's a nice bloke and I really don't want to say anymore -- I'll let the other Rovers fans and perhaps Stevenage fans ( on loan ) tell you what they think.

There is no chance we would pay £6k for anyone, nevermind a non league striker.

He has had his contract paid up so he is yours to keep if you want him.
Total waste of a squad number whilst here

Dunfermline mate of mine says he was class for them but then it's the same guy that said Euan Murray was a good defender

Oh well.
Just when I thought we might bring a decent player in.
Coventry fans rated him in the season they got promoted to the Championship but he has never done much good for us on a long and hefty contract.
He had a chance to fight for his place in the first game of the season v FGR and put in a powder puff performance. Shirks challenges and headers and always passes sideways or backwards like he is trying to just get rid of the ball. Certainly not what you need in your position.
Stevenage fans might be able to add more as they saw him more regularly in L2

He wanted 7k basic from us apparently and we told him to do one.

Quite right too.

He's 25 years old and has managed 6 apoearances in the Football League in 8 years has a pro, the rest of his career spent scratting around the non league circuit. Who in their right mind would offer £7k a week for him

Apparently we had a bid accepted from Mansfield for Danny Johnson & we offered him 50% more than what he's on at the Stags.
Unfortunately he doesn't want to come with us being 3rd bottom.
So it looks like Raj is at last loosening the purse strings.
A bit late if you ask me though.
