we could be signing D'Margio Wright-Phillips, but Stoke seem busy looking for a CB to replace Souttar who's deal to Leicester is being held up because of it. Fairly obvious we are at the bottom of the chain.
confirmed. mental that we are signing ian wright's grandson. That makes me feel v old, and i'm only 30.

If we can keep O'brien fit he could be a very good signing

I think alongside the club leaving us short in defence, keeping Danny Johnson at the club to be 4th/5th choice is silly, but overall we sold Lapslie and Hawkins and spent half of that on Louis Reed, Callum Johnson and Alfie Kilgour, so I feel like we have done well.

I just worry about our back line, it’s clearly improved starting line up but it’s still lacking enough depth. One or two injuries and we are in trouble.

Well that’s where we’re headed.

Is it just me or are you also totally unimpressed with these signings?

We’ve lost Rollin and replaced him with an untried kid, albeit a giant one, signed three midfielders who can’t get a kick at their old clubs and then Jennings who must’ve been choice 49 on the striker checklist.

We’ve gone from chasing Armstrong/Johnson/Dallas for big money to chasing a 31 year old last seen kicking it with the stiffs in the league below.

The doubters truly have won here Raj.

Connor Jennings is a cult hero at Tranmere! If he has anything like the impact with you that he had with us then you won’t be disappointed!

Keith Curle describing Jennings best asset as his pace, oh god.

He never had pace even when he played for us as a kid.
I couldn’t believe it when I read that.

Who the hell is doing scouting and analysis for Hartlepool and telling Curle that?

I wish him well after everything he’d been through but he moves like a crab these days.

An absolutely fucking wank transfer window for us. Something's gone massively wrong somewhere. Hurst, Pettit and Stockwood better have some spectacular answers ready for the fans forum next week because the overall mood in that room is going to be somewhere between fuming and incandescent.

I wish him as well too, but he must have the best agent in the country to get a football league move.

Very disappointed with the signing of Jennings,I actually think the lad from Arsenal could be a good one,Kiernan seems well thought of by Walsall & Grimsby fans.
Kemp had a good season at Orient last year, not a clue about Finney.
I knew fine we’ll we wouldn’t sign anyone like Johnson or Armstrong, but to be honest I’m just glad it looks like we’ve now got midfielder’s who can actually run & hopefully it’s the end for Featherstone.
Considering Rochdale have only signed a couple,Crawley & Harrogate don’t seem to recruited very well,I think we’ve done ok.

Jay Turner-Cooke, kid from Newcastle on loan. Attacking midfielder, can play wide. Unsure how much action he’ll see on Wirral, but looks quite exciting.

Overall Rovers transfer business has been quite good, but our lack of defensive cover, with 2 departures during the window and only Brad Walker of the arrivals capable of playing in defence is a concern.

Connor Jennings was certainly capable of playing at this level during his time with Rovers. I can understand that his pace, such as it was, has dropped off after the cancer, but surprised he is so disliked by the Stockport contingent on here.

Pools fans seem to have been fed some mis-truths about CJ. As well as the lack of any pace these days, he has never been a striker, best described as an attacking midfielder or no 10

He started as a 10 or an AML for us but he didn’t have that in him anymore and then since coming back from his recovery he’s continually played up top for us/Alty.

No pace, lost his ability to press well, first touch often lacking and doesn’t score goals.

He was like that before he was diagnosed with cancer but tbf to him we don’t when it started it have an impact on him.

I'm gonna say the window is overall slightly better than the summer but we are still deficient at the back and Jennings does look a poor call to me.

Happy enough with Kemp, Kiernan and Finney. About as good as we could hope for, lots more options in that horrendous midfield. Seems slightly strange that a couple are primarily wingers mind.

We obviously couldn't land any of our targets up front so we have to hope Umerah stays fit and Hamilton, Joe Grey need to step up as well.

I'll give this window on the face of it a 5/10. Who knows if it's enough to beat the drop but the squad looks more competitive at least. Biggest plus point is we didn't lose Umerah or Sterry although risk losing the latter for free in the summer.

Matty Stevens was in wimbledon to sign when he did a u turn to Walsall. Maybe he got the wrong W. Also colchester fans i think u are letting Freddy Sears go on a free and we may be picking him up. Weird one if so cos I don't know anyone here who wants him or really sees need for him.

I think our lot went out for the day and then had an early night, the board will be pleased that the large war chest for January signings is now larger than it was before, the only true signing yesterday was me for my new car which probably cost more than the club have spent

Sad to hear of his decline. He’d become very much a squad player rather than regular starter during our time in L1. It would be interesting to speculate if we’d have offered him another deal in a parallel covid free universe, but in the real world a decision was taken not to extend any contracts post-pandemic.

The affection, call it love even, Rovers fans feel for Jennings is immense. He’d been in hospital with meningitis ten days earlier, but came off the bench in the play-off final to provide the cross for Norwood’s goal that got us back into the FL. A genuinely nice guy too.

We ended the window shifting Angus MacDonald to Aberdeen. Apparently we released him from his 18 month contract so they could sign him on a 6 month deal. Rumours he had missed some training sessions so potentially 'constructive dismissal' or whatever.

We made Frazer Blake-Tracey's loan deal permanent, he's been superb and can play both left or centre back. We also signed Joe Tomlinson on loan from Peterborough with a view to a permanent deal. He was class last season and its another familiar face. Finally we signed Dylan Kadji, a 6ft 2 box to box midfielder on loan from Bristol City. He ticks the HIGHLY RATED box.

The other players rumoured never happened but I reckon we've done the groundwork for the summer, depending on what league we're going to be in.

Glad FBT deal is done but thought we would have looked to strengthen the defence a bit more as it's the area causing the biggest problems. I suppose we'll have to wait to see how JM wants to play it?

Made a last minute signing with Callum Kavanagh joining on loan from Middlesborough, recently been at Harrogate, well we have certainly got a youthful strike force now as him and Charlie McNeil are both 19 but anything has got to be better than Bogle has'nt it.

Yeah it maybe looks like 1 body short if we are being super critical. I guess the Spurs lad just couldn't get done for whatever reason. With Tomlinson in at LB you'd have thought it's likely to be FBT and Brennan at CB with Hutton at RB, where do you put Lavinier? Someone told me he played CM under Jody Morris for Chelsea in the academy so perhaps there? It will be interesting to see how we line up at Newport on Saturday for sure.

You appear to have forgotten Clayton who gets in the first 11 every time

Your right, I had forgotten him! When I was typing Brennan I was racking my brains (didn't take me long) as I was sure I was missing someone! I guess Harries is coming back from injury which provides a little bit of comfort if we have an injury crisis.

Glad we got Oli Finney off the wage bill. He had something 2 years ago, he was a real goal scoring midfielder, got double figures in league 1 by January, broke his leg vs Shrewsbury and has looked a shadow of a player ever since. He's never really offered anything other than goals he's not the quickest, strongest or best passer but he had a great knack of being in the right place, now that's gone he literally offers nothing. Hope it works out for him though as he's a great lad for a Stokie.
