If you want my tinfoil hat/reading between the lines on Lewis. I think Lewis is highly rated by our DOF/ elements of our coaching staff but not at all by Challinor. The lines coming out of the club over Lewis have been very bipolar. I think Chally would happily cash in on him but that won't be his decision.
I think Challinor rates him you know. I remember him playing him ahead of Horsfall at times at the start of last season. I'd get him back and get back to a four at the back now Pye is injured.

Why bring in Byrne who couldn't even get in Tranmere's squad to cover for Horsfall's injury? He would still be here now if he did rather than presumably getting bent over a barrel by Byrne's agent to get a three year contract. He clearly went to our recruitment team and said he didn't trust him to see out 10 weeks and wanted his own defender brought in, as they've worked together at Pools and Fylde.

He started ahead of him at the start of the season then got found out pretty quickly. We were also pissing around playing Horsfall on the left of a three to accommodate Ash Palmer. As soon as he moved Horsfall to his correct position and stumbled across Wright as a RCB they both looked head and shoulders better than Lewis.

I really hope that's sarcasm.

Of the highest order, if we brought Burchnall back it would be funny, don’t get me wrong but would also be devastating. I can really see it being an option though.

Jeez. I'd rather being back Steve Thompson. Just heard Coventry have bid £2 million for Langstaff.

Be amazed, comfy job he's got at Wolves now.

Conor Carty signed on loan from Bolton, not sure if that means Faal is going back to WBA or not

What actually is his best role then? I was assuming it's an AMC kind of role, but he's appeared out wide whenever he's played for us so far. I'm guessing that's more to do with the formation we've been using though as it's very much a 4-3-3 with a holding midfielder, two box to box types, two wide attackers and Danny Rose in the middle.
He should be at his best in a CAM role, but he's not active enough to be effective there. He lacks the pace and trickey to play out wide, hasn't got the legs to play deeper. He's a deeply flawed player who in all honesty hasn't developed or improved in 7-8 years as a pro. He'll be out of football soon enough. Not sure why Hurst signed him in the first place to be honest.

Lewis had a couple of games in Horsfall's role, in the middle, and I remember him looking solid there.

It's probably just the wider position that sees him exposed to wingers that exposed his weaknesses.

It wouldn't be the case for that, but given Ethan Pye is now out for over 3 months that might be the nail in the coffin. However one thing to consider is that bringing back Lewis would cost us a squad registration spot we probably wouldn't want to use on him given the injuries elsewhere and I think we would prefer to bring in a left footed centre back for when we play with a back three.

Absolute radio silence with rumours on our end, which is worrying. That injury list will cost us the top three never mind talking of the title if we can't bring in quality additions.
We don’t get rumours from ITKs anymore so not worried with 10 days to go until our next game.

I think it’s obvious there will be additions sooner rather than later.

He was so solid that DC brought in Byrne from Tranmere after a couple of games and replaced him immediately in the team and then he didn’t play for five months.

If we do move to a back four I don’t mind him coming back mind as we still have three other options in case he struggles like last season.

Unsubstantiated rumour that we are looking at Jacob Wakeling, a forward, currently with Peterborough.
He has made 7 appearances so far this season for Posh, all of them, from what I can see, as a substitute, so not a regular.

He's already played for both posh and us this season so (unless the rules have changed) he wouldn't be able to play for you this season would he?

One of our ITK forum posters is saying we're possibly bringing in a CB from Tranmere. Any ideas @TranmereFans?
We’ve only got 4 centre-backs;
Tom Davies captain signed new deal in the summer, won’t be him.
Jordan Turnbull out of contract in the summer, thinks he’s good enough for L1, can’t see him joining a side roughly the same level as Rovers.
Josef Yarney first reserve, can’t see us releasing him unless bringing someone in and out rumour mill is pretty dead at present.
Jean Belehouan on a short term deal to the end of the month, very raw and has been injured recently.

Think on this occasion your ITK has been fed duff information.

I know, he was a disappointment and part of the relegation team of shame.
Did I thank you for nicking our manager at the time?

If I didn't. Hand on heart . Thank you. What a d%^£#&*d that man was/is.

Started his career here before we sold him to Halifax for pittance and a sheff lad it’s not unbelievable.

Imagine quite a few L1 clubs would like him mind.

It’s doable and would be just what we need really, especially if flints involved in a good word about the club. Still, see if when/if i see it.

Byrne was brought in to play RCB, not the middle

We were rumoured to be looking at Gregory but weve got Steve Fletcher currently occupying the 'old pro' position so we don't need another one - If we do sign another striker it needs to be someone who can hopefully do a job next season in the league above.

That said I would imagine we were considering him, he'd do a decent job in L2 so he's a player you'd consider. He'd be a particularly good signing for Mansfield given your lack of forwards.

Nigel Clough was have a good friendly chat and an arm around Byrne at the end of the Stockport game on Monday. I know Cloughie has tried to sign him in the past. Perhaps he was saying ‘look you could have been in this side’

Exactly, we don’t want you guys to be involved as we know we can’t match you, it wouldn’t be possible.

for any side to finish above you this season would be a remarkable achievement (though long as it doesn’t affect us i’m pleased for wrexham)

Could be that the player in question is a full back not a CB and that Joe Starbuck is coming back? Or yeah like you say, could well be nothing in it.
