Actually, he did well. Got the contacts, knows the game. Be a good fit for you, although, as far as I know, he’s been out of the game for a while.

Confirmed Connor O'Riordan has signed for Blackburn, after they had met his release clause (500k) I was hoping we might get a loan back for the rest of the season like when Pickering went there, but looks like he's going straight into the Blackburn squad. Good move for the lad, I wouldn't be surprised to see him progress further, one of the most complete young centre backs I've seen.

He's class and he deserves it but I'm gutted.

Colchester have signed Alistair Smith on loan from us. Not quite happened here, partly because he's had to play most of the season right of a front three rather than his natural position of CM but also because he doesn't really look quite good enough at the minute for the step up and it's quite a drop off from our other three CM's anyway.

Good player Smith but weird you’ve been playing him as part of front 3, definitely didn’t strike me as someone to play there. He’ll do ok in L2.

He can't, he was only there because we haven't had many available forward players in the first half of the season, it wasn't our intention to play him there. I don't think we envisaged him playing so much this season full stop really, as soon as the transfer window opened he dropped to the bench.

What kind of central midfielder is he?

Ryan Finnigan is going elsewhere as well. Damn.

Not too fussed about that but I appreciate I'm in the minority. Been injured most the season, won't be available straightaway apparently and we've got too many injury prone CMs on the books as it is. Giving him a long term deal would've been a risk.

Far more devastated about losing COR but we still might get Joe White back next week fingers crossed.

How did Paul Jewell do as your DoF? It’s a role we’re desperate for IMO and if we ever were to appoint someone (we won’t), would appease many and offer some sort of forward thinking and cohesion, away from the 18 month cycle of hire and fire totally different managers and their doomed to fail unbalanced substandard squads.
Jewell an obvious name given how well he did here/him having done the role at Swindon, like I say it won’t happen.

Yeah him and Power seemed to have the contacts as we brought in decent players when he was around.

Where is he now? Still stuck in the back of that prostitute?

Honestly I'm good with White not coming back. 3 loanees out of 5 used all on young CMs isn't the best use of the 5 slots, especially when the 5th is the 2nd choice GK. Would far rather sign a tall RCB who can replace O'Riordan in the short term, that would allow Offord to stay in midfield.

Had a good season in a number 10 role for Yeovil years ago and been bang average at best ever since.

Signed Otis Khan on loan till the end of the season, any good? GTFCfish Gladders Son of Cod
Very tidy on the ball, works hard but lacks end product. A lot of Town fans didn't rate him but I thought he was decent. Has lots of niggly injuries though. He's a solid 6/7 out of 10 when he plays but rarely an 8/9/10 or rarely has a stinker.

Won't take much to be more hardworking than a midfield of Nicky Featherstone, Kieron Wallace and Callum Cooke.

That’s exactly what Wallace was for Mansfield, lacking in technical ability hence why we let go but did a decent squad job for us last season.

We’ve signed Stephen Duke-McKenna on loan from QPR. Seem to have a lot of midfielders all of a sudden having been threadbare earlier in the season. Still need another forward you’d think.

Wallace has all the attributes of a milk float.

Well it’s interesting he can do a half decent job in a squad role for a L2 promotion chasing side but not for a mid-table national league side but that’s how it goes sometimes I suppose.

Tall, rangy, pretty decent on the ball. Gets his tackles in, eye for a goal (pretty decent from range).

So a bit of everything/box-to-box as opposed to predominantly defensive or attacking? Think we've probably been missing more of a battling, holding midfielder as we'd never really replaced Ossama Ashley.

strengthening well there, or a replacement for Evans?
Strengthening! we are down to the bare bones for forwards with Bogle out for weeks and Zanzala out for so long he is not likely to kick a ball for us again, so we are left with Will Evans, and Seb Palmer-Holden as our only options.

Will thrive if played in a 2 up front. We didn't and I don't think we got the best out of him. It will be interesting to see if he gets his goal touch back.

Waterfall has been a good servant for us and was excellent in our promotion season so he goes with best wishes, but it's good to see Artell fixing our weaknesses and realising Waterfall isn't good enough for us now. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
