I see Harry Anderson has joined Colchester on loan. Really struggled with injury since he left here for Bristol Rovers but an excellent signing if they can get consistent games out of him and will be good for a handful of goals in the second half of the season.

Ipswich have apparently bid a significant amount for Ali Al-Hamadi. Question is, does he want to to be a bench warmer for a high flying Championship club.or potentially win the L2 playoffs with AFC Wimbledon?

I've no idea having never been one, but I'm pretty sure that's not how the mind of the average footballer works, particularly the ambitious ego driven ones, which is probably the majority.

Best result is probably that they buy him and then they loan him back for the season so he gets to fulfill that dream of a league 2 playoff win.

Sounding like we’ve nicked Matthew Olosunde from under Swindons nose.

Shame about Conteh but it’s yet more cash in the bank which has always been the model we were going down.

My own two cents is that there was probably a conversation had to the effect of Ali would be going nowhere while we are still in with a squeek of the play-offs, which we are, just, unless there's a ridiculous offer.
I don't think Ipswich's offer of "just north of £1m" is anywhere near enough... twice that, maybe.
He does seem to have genuine affection for the club, but we've all seen how fickle that can be when serious money comes calling. There's no sign of him agitating for a move, and he doesn't seem like the type that will sulk and down tools if he doesn't get a move.
The Asian cup is a complication... Iraq are still in it, and will likely beat Jordan in the last 16 on Monday after coasting through their group with 3 wins, so he's very likely gone for the duration of the window and might not be interested in moving club while he's at a big tournament.
If he does move then Ipswich is about as good as it is going to get for him... there's a fair chance they go up this year, and they are a bit short up front with loans ending and injuries so he will likely start games at least in the short term.
Having lived in Suffolk for a few years earlier in life, I do have a soft spot for Ipswich and wouldn't mind seeing him end up there, but my own thoughts/hopes are that it's more likely in the summer for around £2m.

I do think, that being a footballer is such a short career that given the chance you have to grab it. Yes, staying and getting more games at Wimbledon maybe a better way to improve, but you get a career ending injury at Crawley and its over. That's why I think a big transfer and a loan back probably works for all parties.

Was on trial but not sure it even got to us attempting to get anything done. It wouldn't surprise me if he looked at our management setup, our flimsy squad and probably thought 'nah, this isn't for me'

That would suit us a lot more than Ipswich... I think Ipswich need someone in for the here and now to try and see them over the line. Not sure if Ali is ready for that step up, time will tell if it happens...

Not a peep in Crawley.

Jed Brown (sidemen brother) was on the bench the other night.

Have Notts County signed any better defenders yet in this window?

Something they obviously need.

I'm really stunned that bottom feederfootball club supporters come out with - He'll do better staying here and getting promotion/more experience/ etc. etc. No he won't. He'll do better moving, getting 3 times the wages and maybe being loaned out to a team a couple of divisions higher. If anyone here was offered X times the money for doing the same job they would take it but expect a footballer to forgoe that money due to 'loyaty'.

We had fans saying the same about Twine. They were stupid as well.

Was linked with us earlier in the window.

City never usually loan out below L1 but after not doing much at Wycombe guessing they are making an exception on him.
Makes me wonder what City really think of Simon Wilson given he was pretty high up at the club for over half a decade yet we never get any loanees from them and we were rejected earlier in the window for a player.

In defence of Wilson, it's more about what is good for the players rather than doing an old mate a favour. Not sure these young players at PL clubs walk in our team at all.

Looks as though we've signed this Conte bloke from Grimsby.
Club record fee for you and a 20% sell on for us is what we're hearing. There's a guy who seems to know what the craic is regarding this transfer on our forum and he said that to trigger the clause it had to be 275k in full but you weren't willing to do that so you've had to pay above the release clause. Interestingly, he also says FGR offered us 275k in installments so sounds like they're slinging some p's around this window.

Well I doubt Ipswich would loan him out to a team 2 divisions higher than Wimbledon as that is the same league as Ipswich.

We will have to wait and see with the loanee from Norwich.

I can however confirm we haven't sold the EFLs top scorer to Carlisle United and boy do they need him or similar.

Might suit all parties then as he sounds the kind of player who would fit in with us and we’re definitely still short of depth in midfield.

Right now if you say midfielder, a proper actual central midfielder, my answer is yes whoever the name is. Our small squad , injuries, and comparatively modest squad modest to many has left us short in this regard.
