Crewe - 0
Doncaster - 5
Fleetwood - 1
Gillingham - 4
Grimsby - 1

Morecambe - 0
Newport - 0
Notts County - 2

We’re due to go to Spain on a pre season tour and using Real Betis facilities as a base in return for us hosting their pre season games at our place against Marseille and Middlesbrough last couple of seasons. As a result of when we go away I expect we will want the bulk of our deals done by then to get a settled squad on the tour. It’s what we did last year and seems to be Cooks MO. Expecting incomings and outgoings throughout June so we go into July with a good idea of our squad.

We didn’t sign anyone in August or January at all last season I don’t think.

Other teams will catch up I'm sure, Cook's always preferred to get his business done early.

Also worth noting our season finished AGES ago. We had weeks headstart on most teams. In reality, a lot earlier than that. If you put it like that, this is really I guess our midway point of the off-season?

We've done business early sure, but none of them scream 'going for it'.

We have this debate every season, the teams that are out the traps early doors get hailed.

Doncaster and Grimsby were two who struck early. Both teams started the season terribly. Doncaster turned things around but it wasn't until February so I don't think early business helped them.

It's about the right players.

Our first signing last year was the 8th June, most of these have gone earlier!

Though we had announced our 4th by the 14th June and some are speculating that we have already signed some just not announced so we may be in a similar position again and have a bit of business done already.

Not sure what I was expecting, but most of the business done so far has been underwhelming. The odd player here and there looks decent, but I'd say only Donny and Gillingham have impressed me with most of their signings.

Reassuring that we're one of 7 teams to have not made an addition yet.

Said it about a million times on here and it generally falls on deaf ears (our own fans aside) but our signings in the summer window weren't necessarily the problem last season, with a few exceptions it was the players that we already had that weren't good enough.

Our first were Rose and Mullarkey on the 14th last season, weren't they?

Our business was early for us, but not early going off what's happening in this window. The mistake our club made was not considering that the cackling hyenas of the TFF L2 forum would take great delight in us signing seven players in the first week of July with four of them being on the same day. Do that and you open yourself up to all manner of comments. Wrexham fans running home to their laptops hands shaking as they hit caps lock and whoop ANOTHER GRIMSBY SIGNING, the irony of them having about 17 strikers completely lost. Not that I am bothered about that or anything. It's fine.

There was that many signings that Hursty was sacked because he couldn't learn all their names.

Our problem wasn’t the signings it was the 17 out injured, our useless medical staff and even worse Chairman. Our owner replaced the chairman with himself, sacked the physio and other staff and replaced them all, suddenly our injury list dropped down to 9 and the improvement started. I don’t expect the same poor start this season.

Rose and Mullarky on the 8th, Wilson on the 9th, Crocombe left on the 13th, then Eisa on the 14th.

Also if you’re a mid table cup side, your fate is decided weeks before someone who’s in the play off’s; you can start to build next seasons squad which will definitely be in this league a lot earlier than one which might well be in the one above.

I can’t remember exactly but we can’t have started that badly as when we went to Bradford until their last minute equaliser we were going 2nd in the league albeit in the early kick off so we would’ve dropped a few places by the time the other fixtures were played.
I think it was pretty much after that game we went to absolute shit.

Ryan Haynes from Northampton is the next link to Cheltenham. Played under Flynn at Newport so fits the "must have played for Johnson or Flynn" model that we're going for.

Can't say I know anything about him to be honest - any idea LordJord?

Charlie Wyke been at the club today apparently.

Personally I’d be surprised as a similar profile of target man to Quigley really, unless he’s off?

He's on his stag in Vegas so I doubt it

This has got to be the longest stag do known to man.

Wyke may be a similar profile to Quigley but he’s a way better version.

If any club in this league gets Wyke they are instantly top 3 candidates. I saw him last season for Wigan and he still looks a top end League 1 standard player.

Yeah but better version or not, I can’t see us having x2 players of that profile on the books, so if we are looking at him seriously that must mean Quigs is off.

Must say though I’d be very surprised if we went into this season with options of Grigg, Madden & Wyke when you take into consideration we only play 1 striker in Cooks system, but I suppose Madden is a bit more versatile.

At the moment though the rumours stretch no further than he’s just been in for a conversation at the club, so miles off being anything concrete in it for now

Connor Barrett is a mint signing for Walsall. Jealous of that one. I'd have had him here, we need a right back.
