Our back up keeper and goalie coach Josh Lillis is leaving. He wasn't offered a new playing deal and a deal as just coach couldn't be reached. We've already got our 2nd goalie signed up though - Wyll Stanway.

Whenever I hear the fan of a smaller club call a move a sideways step, it always reminds me of those York fans saying it to James Meredith about his move to us. They went back down to their natural habitat, while Meredith got a promotion, plus 3 Wembley visits and a FA cup quarter final on his CV before moving onto the championship. Moral of the story is a move in the same division isn't always a sideways step.

3 years is a bit generous for a player that's struggled for both starts and production. Feels almost identical in that regard to Tracey. If he hits, then we'll have a great asset to build around for the next 3 years. If he struggles like Tracey has done, then we'll be stuck with him for quite a while. Fingers crossed he pans out.

Yea, he's a centre back isn't he?
Yeah but his specialist position is right of a back 3 for sure , I actually think he's very good at this level if played there the issue is you have to play 3 at the back to fit him in because he's not good enough a right back to play in a 4 or suited to playing as a CB in a back 4 .

It's a tough balancing act, isn't it. People may have said the same about players like Nevitt and (especially) Agyei if we'd have given them longer deals, but it turned out we really should have done.

Will Evans has posted a picture outside Meadow Lane on his Instagram story but he's probably just checking up on the newly laid pitch

Bigger club, on more money, better training facilities, better chance at promotion. better area in the country to live in. But he might run into Viking Magpie.

Staying at Newport, isn't he?

There is always the chance I guess but tbh at Meadow Lane I tend to get lost in the crowd these days.

Wasn't like that in the 2000s I can tell you. Thanks weird bros :mell::bow:

Back in 2003, fed up with waiting for cash strapped Wrexham to offer him a new contract Lee Trundle dropped a division to join Swansea. Five years later he was playing in the Championship with Bristol City and we were hurtling towards non-league.

Some moves just work.

Harry Smith confirmed from Sutton reigniting (?) his previous successful partnership with Aaron Drinnan. After a few seasons of playing with relative midgets it appears that we have learned our lesson and are signing players that have had success, know the division and are TALL! Very much Looking forward to the season now

I think you are making that up as Martin Allen only ever manages Barnet, 11 times so far if I remember correctly.
Mad dog did indeed manage Gills. I remember a game at VP. One of our fans used to sit behind the dug out and give 90 mins of dog abuse to opposing managers. Mad dog sat along side him and for the whole game they chatted like long lost pals. Absolute star.

Harry Smith x Swindon Town.

If ever a player and a club suited each other, this is it.

Have any of you sorry bastards been linked to Ben Woodburn yet? Can't see anyone in L1 touching him.

That Orient game when he was giving it the big un when they went 2-1 up with 2 minutes to go was hilarious, especially when he had to come into the wild celebrations to retrieve the ball when we scored the 95th minute winner!
