Can't say I'm over familiar with him but Wednesday fans seem to rate him. He seems like a big head it and kick it type defender, which is what we need. Bit of pace in full back/wide areas and I think that’s us done.
When we appointed Moore I expected Heneghan to end up at Vale at some point. Great signing. Remember how well Wednesday fans rated him.

Kind of defender we need especially with how weak we became defending set pieces and headers.

Happy enough with that. Not sure where that leaves Lowe or potentially Smudge.

If we can get a right back that’s decent competition for Clark and another pacey wide man we will be done.

Possibly the RB be the Everton lad we have on trial?

Seriously that should not even be a concern at all. Lowe is a liability at this point and needs to move on to a NL club if one would have him and if Smith can’t handle some competition for his spot then he needs to depart too.

Corrie Ndaba the next rumoured name. Centre half at Ipswich, spent last season on loan at St Johnstone and apparently Hibs are in for him so we will see what happens there.

Last time we beat Hibs to a player, was when we took Eoin Doyle from them…. The rest is history.

Newport fans, what's Will Evans like?

Someone’s maybe already mentioned it, but Evans was at Meadow Lane, apparently for a game of padelball, but probably also for a chat about a move. Pre Macca moving, but I’m sure we had a decent idea he was going even then.

Surprised Wrexham are in for him, based on one good season in league 2, seems a strange move to me. I’m sure he’d be a lot happier in our newly vacated no 9 shirt…

It is a bit of an odd one. Possibly he's a cheaper option? The rumour is from someone fairly credible who is now saying Newport have come in with an improved offer so it's unlikely to happen. I think McAtee is our first choice but he's got quite a few options, including Championship clubs and possibly Birmingham who are just buying everyone.

Rumour has it that the Blues are overpaying as well as somehow clubs have found out that they are loaded with somewhat naive new American owners who are prepared to throw big money in terms of both transfer fees and wages to secure talent which is clearly too good for the division they are in.

How very dare they.

Promotion beckons.

A tug of war between moneybags Wrexham & Brum over McAtee would be brilliant given the sell on clause Grimsby have

Lee Angol signs for Morecambe. Dreadful player and a reet diving bastard. Surprised he's managed to slime his way back into the EFL.

Junior Morias loaned out to Dag & Red. I reckon we’re down to a squad size of 19 now (20 if you include Reynolds).

What are the weird brothers and their proprietary algorithms cooking?

We spent early summer worrying about defence but I'm now far more worried that centre midfield is two players light and now two short up front.
Quite a big couple of weeks for us coming up, transfer business is nowhere near complete I hope.

Morais moving out on loan indicates we want to bring someone in imo. We don't have a lot of cover there. Swan or Evans are the types of signings I could see but equally it could be some random from Sweden or Slovakia for all we know

The way we've cleared the decks of everyone we wanted gone has been pretty ruthless but I suspect quite expensive paying off contracts and part funding wages of loaned out players.
Think we'll sign / loan in four by the end of the window .
If we don't we're going to need a lot of luck with injuries, youth players making a dramatic step up and McGoldrick and Scott to be consistent goal getters.
Also read a rumour we're interested in buying the ROKO gym with its pitches which would cost millions, would be gobsmacked if that happens.

What's the general view on Notts County's prospects? Was surprised how relatively poor their position was last year. Surely with the crowds you get and a good, well renowned league club, you'll be expecting play offs minimum?

We've lost Langstaff which would be a blow to any team at this level and we've an unproven manager. If we start with the squad we've got I think it will be a long hard season because there's no depth in key positions.
I'm sure the owners want playoffs and I'm hoping there'll be some class first team players coming in at centre forward and centre midfield.
We've a better keeper than last season and probably a better defence but we don't know for definite.

Definitely interesting Maynard and Montague have spent all summer talking about needing more depth than last season, this time last year I think we were at 21 players so must be some decent activity coming

I think we’re in that group challenging for top 7 - we’re better prepared than last season, there’s clearly more physicality in the side which is where he came unstuck last season.

We’ve signed a whole new defence which is better on paper but who knows in practice

It really is just depth and quality of options now, if any of our midfield or attack get injured or lose form, we’ve not got much to bring in. In particular, an injury to any of Jatta, Palmer, Crowley or Jones would completely curtail our season from the off. I think if you look at the teams that went up last year, they picked up injuries but had enough to rotate and sustain form

I don't believe the Roko stuff, we'd be better off waiting Forest out and just taking over theirs.

Hopefully the money saved from the outgoings (I assume it's still been cheaper for us to get rid than carry the likes of Rawlo and Randall) will give us options. I reckon we will want 4 more at least, presumably a couple of those would be loans.

We have 3 central midfielders and 3 strikers on the books if I'm looking at this correctly. Definitely not enough to be successful in this league

Depends what we’re counting Crowley and Austin as. Crowley played as our deepest midfielder in Germany and was still the best player on the pitch, which was weird.

I think we need one in each position through the spine of the team - centre back, holding mid, attacking mid and upfront. That would give us a squad size of 23, which feels okay, even if a couple are on loan. I’m pretty happy with how our starting xi looks, but it’s beyond that.

Speak of the devil, we’ve signed a centre back. Robbie Cundy, who’s been on trial the last couple of weeks. Another giant!

I'd love to bang Notts in the top three prediction-wise, but I'm unsure of that Maynard fella.

He’s one of our big two unknowns, along with Jatta. The defence is completely rebuilt, but basically with players who’ve proven to be decent at this level through their careers. It’d be a surprise if we conceded anything like as many.

Maynard, who knows? Tough act to follow with Williams and inherited a hideously unbalanced squad, but as much as I’m trying to give him a clean slate, he’ll need a good start. He does look and sound a lot more relaxed at the minute than he did at any point last season.

Jatta has the attributes to be as dangerous as Langstaff, he’s quick, awkward, massive, runs himself into the ground and can finish. But he’s also picked up a couple of injuries and is a complete unknown quantity over a 46 game season. He could be one of the league’s most sought after prospects this time next year, or he might have burnt out by November. Dunno.

This is it.

I see Crowley as best in the ten and Austins best position there too. Austin in particular hasn't convinced me in central midfield

Austin isn’t convincing anywhere at this level, but he’s a very useful player to have in the squad. Not sure he’s good enough to ever nail down a starting spot, but he can play about six positions to a standard that is alright filling in.

We’re very light up front, with Jatta no experience in this league, Scott just coming back from a big injury, and McGoldrick old…put that alongside midfield with Palmer coming back from a big injury and I would hope we’ve got 3 more big hitters coming in.

I would hope the owners see this season as a bit of an opportunity with the big spenders out of the league(MK and PV excepted) but it sounds like there’s a new training ground to pay for,(rightfully so)so it might be another season of treading water.
