We’ve signed Joel Cotterill from Swansea. No idea.

Rumours of Dack having a medical this week.
Believe it when I see it.
If he can prove he's fit and the deal is good for Gills then i will be extremely happy with this as he is way too good for league 2.

But there is still major question marks over his fitness

Barnsley defender Jack Shepherd appears set to be our next signing on loan.

Any Robins fans of the Cheltenham persuasion care to share their thoughts, I believe he had a spell on loan with you?

Good defender, has a mistake in him and it can be costly. You can tell he's stepped up from non-league because he has that bit of grittiness. Scored a cracking goal against Port Vale.

I wouldn't have been disappointed to get him back to be honest.

Charlie Austin hasn't rejoined a league 2 side and instead plumped for AFC Totton in the Southern league.

Barnsley fans rate him.

Could be a decent acquisition, this.

Bonner had Hoolahan in a similar position when he got Cambridge promoted from this league - he couldn't play 2 games a week so he was managed carefully, ended up playing 30 odd games and was a fantastic asset when he was available. I believe there was an agreement from the outset that he wouldn't play the midweek games - I wonder if we'll do something similar in this instance. He might not play loads but when he does he'll probably be the best player on the pitch.

I thought he was supposedly heading to Southend.

That'd be a very poor signing, his injury has ruined him as a player.
Music to our ears.

Joking aside, we took a risk on Paul Glatzel who has been terrific so far. Not to say it will happen with Tshimanga but we do take punts on players with injury histories so there could be something in this.

The moment Tshimanga sees a SkyBet logo, he goes to shit.

Well after a couple of months of back and forth between us & Kyle Mcfadzean, not managed to reach an agreement & he’s re-signed with Blackburn. Heard some time ago that the issue was he wanted a certain clause in his contract that would trigger an extra years deal if he played a certain amount of games, which at 37 years old we didn’t think was realistic.

Shame, would have been a very good signing I think, but at the same time happy we wouldn’t budge on a deal we didn’t think would be right. Still expect us to bring in a right back & goalkeeper (Harry Tyrer from Everton likely to return) by the end of the window. Don’t think CB a priority unless one is to leave.

Tshimanga rumoured from Posh.
Posted this on the other forum in the non league section last month when Southend were first linked with him:

‘Tshimanga would be a brilliant signing for anyone at this level. It’s true he’s not hit the heights of form he showed pre injury, but he’s not really had a proper run of games since, up until his loan with BW at the back end of last season where he started to score goals again in a side that created naff all.

Get him a proper pre season, and build the team around him, he’ll get you at least 20 at this level. Very good pen taker too
.’

Obviously when I said ‘this level’ in the post I was talking about the league below this one, so probably not a ‘brilliant’ signing in this league but definitely a decent/good one as I still firmly believe he’d score goals at this level in the right set up. Will say though that with it being so late in the window, that is a bit of a problem as he won’t have had a full pre season learning the system, getting match sharpness, building relationships on the pitch with teammates etc so that’s not ideal especially for someone who’s played such little football last few years. But I don’t believe he’s ‘finished’ at all, just needs the right club & the right set up.

Got a feeling our ‘system’ this season will be boot the ball, boot the opposition.

Shouldn’t take long to get up to speed with that!

Hard agree. Tshimanga is legit, but may need time given the circumstances

What injury did he have?
Had his leg broken in about 500 places, really bad one. He's not been the 'same' if you look at his numbers but he's not really had the opportunity. Boreham Wood loan end of last season, took a few games to get back into it, as you could understand, then finished with 7 in his last 10 or something, in a struggling side. There's a player there still

We should be signing James Connolly on loan from Bristol Rovers. Any thoughts, Morecambe fans? Apparently, we were going to sign him on on a permanent deal but Rovers changed their minds about that.

In other news, we're open to letting Ryan Cooney leave if we can find anyone to pay his wages.

Connolly is an interesting choice. Got a few games under his belt, but still pretty young. Had hope we'd have moved in the other direction and signed an older head.

As for Cooney, good. Seems like a decent guy to have around the dressing room, but in terms of a footballer, he's not very good at anything. And he's seriously struggled in the pre-season, made a big error against Mallorca and he was poor last night. Be surprised if anyone comes in for him.

Another rumour - Anthony Scully.

Scored 25 in 85 for Lincoln in L1.

Nah surely Scully’s stock hasn’t dropped to League 2 level, even with the bad injury

I thought he actually played quite well against Mallorca until the error. He's a funny one, he sometimes looks pretty good but he's had some absolute shockers too. I love how excited he gets when we score/win but I don't think it's a great loss if he does move on.
