Annoyed by losing Nemane. I absolutely agree that he’s ’part of the problem’ when it comes to our defensive frailties but also thought he was one of our main attacking outlets.

A bit of an odd player in that he’s not a full back nor a winger but thrives in our system where he can just get one on one with players with the way we create overloads out wide.

We now probably need to sign another right back too

Nemane has always been a marmite player for Notts fans.

Have no clue on the new guy. Would love to know the fee paid

Both clubs reporting a fee paid, wouldn’t be surprised if that parts fairly negligible and it’s effectively a swap

Really sad to see him go. Another one of the promotion team gone. Very soon we will be left with only Sam Slocambe

Nemane was one of our best players last season and contributed a lot going forwards. Bit worried we are looking very one paced again. Not sure who will be making runs in behind any more

He is in some ways the most Notts player we’ve had over the last 2 seasons. Attacking to a fault, erratic, unpredictable, tries to defend but can’t, entertainment factor through the roof etc…

so it’s unsurprising people don’t know how to feel about him.

Interesting that the statement says we’ve got other deals waiting to be authorised

We're collecting number 10s. Bit short of number 9s and number 1s but we do love a roaming 10.

We were at one point, but I thought it was pretty much the most glaring gap in our squad at this point. We were down to Crowley and not a lot else. I’m absolutely fine with it, particularly if it means Scott and McGoldrick can be strikers first and foremost rather than shoehorned into that role.

Agree with this. I both loved watching him and can see the logic behind letting him go if we want to be a team with a genuine shot at challenging towards the top.

I think MK Dons have improved their chances of going up even if he ends up being a squad player, not so sure we've shortened our odds with his departure.
Obviously he's not Langstaff but we now have a new defence, keeper and lost arguably half of our attack this summer with only the keeper as a sure fire hit as replacements.

Looks like it’ll be him and Joe Pritchard with maybe CLE as our RWB options, with all being able to play in the right sided 10 role too.

I really hope our new CB’s are up to it!

Nemane is very much an out-and-out wide player. We tried it a couple of times and he’s terrible inside as one of the two tens in the system we both play, takes away all the good things about his game.

This is true, but it’s also true that we were barely better than relegation form from November onwards last season and I don’t really blame us for making wholesale changes. Outside of Jones, Crowley and Langstaff (plus Palmer with the injury), I don’t think we had anyone for the whole of last season who could complain that much about being moved on.

I obviously don’t know a lot about Grant, and it’s a different position so hard to compare, but he’s played a lot more games at League One and Two level than Nemane has. As is the case with basically every player we’ve brought in to replace someone. I’m trying to be clear headed about viewing this on how people did last season rather than sentimental for what they did in 22/23, which was the most fun season we might ever have.

Our 10's play far more like wingers though which is more my point. That would mainly for CLE and what I know about Pritchard than Nemane though, I can't see him playing anywhere other than RWB.

I do wonder if his defensive frailties show too much if we push Offord into CDM and have Tucker in at CB, basically giving us 4 centre backs when we lose the ball.

Fuckin ell. I loved Azza, mainly because a flying winger is my favourite position but also because he was a 100% player and he did that tackle and he was probably our 2nd best player in the playoff final.

Also the dickheads behind us in the Kop didn’t like him, so it annoyed them when he did anything decent.

No Macca and no Nemane is a bit of a kick in the teeth gotta say, given the personality vacuum in the dugout.

I'm not sentimental, I'd have released players we kept a year earlier, Rawlinson was one of my favourites but he was never going to be right for L2. Agreed with every release in the summer and would have added Slocombe.
I've faith in Montague our head of recruitment, nobody gets them all right but he has a good hit rate and our owners have been fantastic and clear sighted in getting us up the leagues.

Always entertaining to see Nemane skin a full back three times and have him on toast for 20 mins to then for no reason be afraid to go at anyone and look to pass back.

Decent player , a regular threat and frustrating. I wish him well, he did a good job and was our second best player in the playoff final when it mattered most. Won't be forgotten.

Tbh we are stacked in midfield anyway, so doubt we will ever need Nemane to be a 10. Our midfield will be what drives us to promotion as we look blessed there.

You’d better play him against us because the other 20 players might as well have the day off, Nemane trying to defend against Jones while Jones tries to defend against Nemane is box office.

Really interested to know what the "substantial" fee was, but disappointing to lose someone who was such a useful player. Not perfect by any means and it sounds like Grant solves a different issue in the squad so I can see why they've done it. Maynard said in his presser we were after two more, i think we would want a RWB now but maybe Jones, Tsaroulla, Gordon and Chicksen is enough? I think if I had to pick it'd be a striker and a RWB.

If it was Winkelman a Freddo and a packet of KP nuts of your choosing. If our new Kuwaiti overlords then £2m.

Nemane was one of the best players we came up against last season, ripped us a new arsehole away at Notts early in the season.
MK Dons recruitment has been top notch I expect them to piss the league with that squad.

How big is the MK Dons squad now?.

Decent player Nemane. Going forward at least - can't defend for toffee.

Stinks of a £6m-£7m playing budget, does that.

Quite possibly.

I mean we were already supposedly fairly well off in L1 (people used to say top 10 budget every year we were there aka most of our existence which was probably accurate based on our overall success in the division e.g. 4 play-offs and one 2nd place finish).

In L2 it’s certainly a promotion budget under Winkelman…

…and now we have rich Arabs so god knows…

Surprised at that one from Notts. Whenever we’ve played them in recent years I’ve always thought he was one of their better players. That promotion winning side being ripped apart in little over a year.

Yep, another in the pro-Nemane camp here - cracking player, great outlet for Notts in the last couple of years and totally wasted in their daft shape last season. Got away with it in NL as he played as the winger he is, but asking him to defend lots last season was just never going to be to his benefit.

He played exactly the same position in both seasons?
