Doncaster should be strong, but I remember thinking last summer that Orient would piss this league with the likes of Simpson, Cox, Baudry, McAnuff etc.
Meh only McAnuff has ever showed quality above league one level and he's old now.

Rowe's in his prime and we've also got plenty of other players who should of really got us in the playoffs last year. I'd also say we're a bit more stable than Orient. In fact were the polar opposite to them with manager's stealing a living but surely even Fergie can't fuck this season up?

Was only a kid with us, in crap teams. Worked hard, but missed more than he scored and became a bit of a scapegoat. Agree he's a confidence player. Hignett will know him from the Boro, so he obviously thinks he's good enough. I liked him.

If he's not very good technically as the Donny fan said, I'd be surprised if we go in for him, but yes the boro link would be the first he'd look at.

As I said, I expect you to be up there, but every year teams that I expect to be up there fail. Portsmouth being the regular culprits.

strange signing.

good player in non-league, but there is many better CB in that division, that being said, he is a huge guy

Having not seen him play, it's interesting to hear these views (good or bad!) - we definitely could do with a bit more of a 'presence' at the back so it would appear on paper to make sense from that point of view. As Look Out There Are Llamas said it will be interesting to see how he gets on - I'd be surprised if he was the last player we plucked from the National League this summer. The good thing for us this summer at least is that we have a manager who has been at the club for over half a season and should have a good idea of what he needs - and I am pleased he has started getting things done early (unlike the previous summer when Butcher shipped the entire squad out and took a somewhat casual approach to getting new players in before pre-season began).

Crawley hoping to announce two signings on Tuesday. Seems Drummy wants to get his business done early while leaving a couple of spots open for trialists and players who didn't get a deal higher up the ladder.
One of the signings is rumoured to be Kyle Vassell. Ex Posh and Salop.
One confirmed trialist is Charlie Gregory from Waltham Forest. No idea but said to be a good player.

Medy Elito linked with Colchester. Good player on his day but too many games passed him by last season.

Byrne rumoured to be signing an extension to stay with us, which would be fecking ace.

We're set to sell Adam Webster to Ipswich with Matt Clarke's loan being made permanent as part of the deal.

Shame to see one of our better prospects go, but Clarke has been good this season and hopefully the extra cash can go towards signing a top quality goalkeeper or a striker capable of scoring 20+ goals next season.

Joe Pigott got released by Charlton today and I would say that we are about 90% certain to sign him. Jones speaks of him like he is his son and clearly rates him highly. I am not a great fan of his personally but he did improve a little to the extent I wouldn't be upset if we do sign him although I wouldn't be too confident if he was leading the line on opening day.

22 years old playing in L1 and L2 this season scoring 9 goals in 43 games, which for someone who's lead such a nomadic upbringing, isn't too bad. I think if he was in a settled place for a couple of years, he'd be a solid L2 striker, doubling that tally.

Saw that Glen Rea was talking to Southend - think he might do OK playing for a mid-table League 1 club, but he has got some limitations. Still think there's a question mark over his defending at set pieces. Zander Diamond took the piss in the game up at Northampton recently.

We've held talks with Danny Rose of Bury apparently as well as Ryan Bird. Rose would be a quality signing, not sure about Bird though.

So looks like Webster is on his way to Ipswich with Clarke coming down here plus a fee over 500k. Good start to the summer for us will help fund a goalkeeper and striker and still have some change left.

Been with us a while and he's a decent young CB with potential so he'll be missed. Clarke looks a decent prospect himself so I think we're getting a good deal here.

An idiot on outlaws has mentioned Kevan Hurst to Luton which suggests it ain't true, but I was actually told over the weekend that there had been some contact between Luton and Hurst so maybe so. Would be a good addition I feel.

We really need some better quality in the middle of the park and the middle of the defence, though.

Bird is ok, a good finisher, but offers pretty much nothing else. He's barely played since Way took over so no surprise to see him in talks elsewhere.

We've been linked with Jamar Loza, released from Norwich. Had a short loan spell with us in League 1 a couple of years ago, but not sure he's done a lot since.

I fully expected Byrne to link up with Edinburgh again at our place this summer.
he's pretty decent isn't he?

Yep good solid player, box to box type midfielder and only bit of quality we have. A short arse but v good in the air and not afraid to shoot. Great goal v Blackburn last season, which was typical Byrne. Problem he had with us was that we were shite generally all over the field so was covering for others for much of the time. Plus our pitch didn't help his game. Fully expect him to join Jacko and JE at Gills but I have heard a little rumour that he may be staying. How did Jacko do last season ?

Jackson was very good for us for the first three quarters of the season.
He then seemed to get niggling injuries that he couldn't seem to shake off. He went off with cramp a couple of times too which to me seemed an indication that perhaps we rushed him back too soon.
Personally, I think that once we get him fully fit again he will continue to progress and turn into a Championship standard right back/wingback.
When he was on top of his game I didn't see a better right back in League One last season.

We are looking likely to sign Oscar Threlkeld, who was on loan for us for most of the season. Been released from Bolton. Decent player. Regarding Reid, he's been injury prone since last January. He's alleged to be on 5k a week here, which is ridiculous for this level and I actually wouldn't mind if he left. Jake Jervis can leave aswell.

Someone one twitter reckons we will be running the rule over Marvin Sordell....

Seems total fantasy to me despite that he's obviously fallen from grace big time.

I didn't mind bird. In a team that creates a lot he would do well. Still learning his trade and poked most chances he had away.

Our latest rumours are hylton from Oxford. Reid being linked yet again, amond from grimsby and kretzchamar. Should have some funds to spend this season if Webster deal goes through

Not sure about you but if he's still learning his trade at 28 then there is something wrong.

I was pissed off we let Kretzschmar go as he's decent but Ainsworth kept playing our knackered old players instead so wasn't given a chance imo, could be a decision that comes back to bite us on the arse. :ffs:

If we sign Matt permanently, which is possible as he seems to love it down here, you will be more than welcome to the crooked Reid!

He's had talks with a few clubs, I imagine JR would pretty much match any offer from a club at this level but it's not all down to money.
