Didn't score many goals for them last season though, appeared not to be in their first team? Or am i missing something? (entirely possible)

I'm aware of that, but Northampton signed Nicky Adams on a 3 year deal last summer but still left yesterday.

I asked if Green is likely to be staying or going. You'd think after the season he had there'd be interest from clubs in League 1.
Nah he'll definitely be staying.

Forgot to say we have signed Glen Morris. Keeper from Gillingham. Drummy says he will be mainly a coach but will be registered to play in case one of the keepers we sign is injured.

Casey

Wish him nothing but the best. Sat on the bench for most of his two years with us as Nelson has been mostly excellent, but was an great stand in for a dozen or so games at the end of last season when we were comfortably mid-table and trying a few things. Unfortunate not to start this (I guess techinically last) season but Nelson's pre-season form knocked him back onto the bench. Never moaned, never let us down when called upon, and I have no doubt he would make an very good number one in a League Two side so I'm a bit surprised he's been sign mainly in a coaching role.

Ok, thats one piece of the jigsaw in place.

To finish the puzzle, is he on holiday at the moment?
Believe it or not he's been working with a personal trainer in Newark just outside of Mansfield seen in his stags training kit, Place where I know Patrick bamfords goes, so no he's not on holiday

Where you heard this? I honestly doubt Taff will be resigning.

Friend who trains at code fitness in Newark, taffs been in most days working with a personal trainer who works with quite a few decent footballers. Reckons taffs getting ready for a big season and wants to win a championship. A lot of fans are doubting he'll go but I've got a feeling he'll have one more crack at it with us.

He's fucking rubbish.

The worst thing about him is that he has the label of being really talented with a terrible attitude but he came to Notts and, in my opinion, actually looked bothered and worked harder than I expected...he was just bad at football.

Yup. Every game for us he tried really hard but just sort of charged down the wing before running into a defender or shanking it out of play.

Bad news for us.

Charlton and Northampton are sniffing around Gwion Edwards. He is under contract so they will have to pay but he is the last remaining player from when we were good.
Right footed winger who plays on the left. If I were to criticise I would say he needs some upper body strength as he can be eased off the ball but he is good enough for league one without a doubt.

Casey

What's he like?

We've signed Alan Sheehan on a free. Pleased with that, he was very good for us during his loan spell last season.

Happy with the Sheehan signing. Prefer him at Left back as you lose his brilliant left foot somewhat if you put in at center half. However Cuthbert is the only CB currently contracted and not on the transfer list (unless you count Musonda) so it may be that he has been bought in to play there.

We've signed Lloyds James ex Orient and Robbie Simpson ex Cambridge.

So what are they like? I always thought James was ok and Simpson strikes me as a hard working forward but has a poor strike rate? I am hoping we get another forward in to add a bit more potency.

Yeah I wouldn't be expecting 25 goals a season off Simpson, but he's a very good player to have, works hard and got lots of quality about him.

That's encouraging....

As long as he's not going to be our only striker we sign then I'm happy..

Robbie's got decent technique - can pass a ball well, decent in the air, can hold the ball up. Not got much pace left but he's an intelligent player - he doesn't need to be too mobile as he's generally in the right place to start. Can play as a striker or a bit further back - I actually thought he did well in a couple of games that he played as a central midfielder.

As noticed, he doesn't score many but would be an excellent partner for a more mobile goalscorer.

I wouldn't have minded keeping him but he's obviously not the style of player that Derry values; we generally play one up top and with Barry Corr and Ben Williamson on the books he wasn't going to play much.

Yeah very happy with this signing - think he deserves the captaincy too.

The fact he's in Newark means he's not signing? Or maybe he's weird and goes on holiday in Newark?

Peterborough have apparently withdrew the contract offer for Taff because he had a fractured wrist.. Madness I know, I don't believe it but then it's come from a guy who knows a fair bit and is usually spot on.

He'll prob end up at Doncaster.

Supposedly a number of signings were made yesterday (of which Sheehan was one) - they've been down to see the stadium plans.

Yep, he's a good squad player but not a regular starter. Great guy too.

James was one of two out of contract players I'd have kept here, a decent ball playing midfielder. Has the odd brain fart and gives the ball away once a game, but what lower league player doesn't.

He was very very unlucky to be released, IMO his injury record went against him which was why our owner got rid of him. He missed six months last season due to a broken leg - although his injury was one of a few reasons why we went down. Also this season he missed three months from mid December till mid March and he wasn't fully fit again till April. He had also been here for four years and probbaly would've cost us more to keep him - Becchetti is looking to lower the wage bill here and there as well.

He was excellent for us when we finished 3rd in League One in 2014.

His penalty record was good for us as well scored 9 from 11.

I'd have kept him as there is no way we would've gotten any better in terms of a midfielder who will get the ball down and look for a forward pass for a striker.

A good signing for Exeter if he can get a run in the team and avoid injury.

I'd like to think he'd pick us over any L2 club for loyalty unless it's an insanely bigger wage.

Cheers

Sounds like the sort of player we need if he can prove his fitness longterm.

What sort of wages can Mansfield pay? Wouldn't have thought it would be particularly difficult for a Luton/Pompey/Doncaster etc to blow you out of the water financially

Depends on how much Radford wants to spend usually. Someone has said Taff has only been offered £1400 to stay and if that's the case he's 100% off.
