Donaldson took one of, if not the, worst free kick I have ever seen. Set himself up like he was Ronaldo and proceeded to cleared the Kenilworth End with it, which if you know the Kenny is no mean feat, especially as he was only about 25 yards from goal!

Having said that, he always seemed to play well against us, scored a cracking goal to set up Cambridges tie with Man Utd.
Was his free kick as good as this beauty from Cheltenham?

Yeah squandered so many chances leading to 43 goals in 2 seasons at Brentford and Burnley and named the Football League player of the season least year.
Following in the footsteps of Premier League stars like Adel Taraabt, Patrick Bamford and Matej Vydra.

Sounds like Oldham's captain, Liam Kelly, is having a medical before signing for Orient. Massey - Kelly - Weir - Cox is some midfield for this level. Should be good for the first three games before Becchetti sacks Hessenthaler and starts picking the team again.

I can't believe Cox is slumming it in league two. I find that incredible.

Donaldson has been poor for 18 months but is worth a punt. Maybe he needed a change of scenery to get his form and career back on track. Well worth a punt if you ask me.

Top guy too.

Nathan Arnold now not being kept on after rejecting his contract.

Either were offering really shit terms or several players just don't want to sign for us... Think I can hazard a guess as to which.

Looks like Rodman will probably happen soon.

Interestingly the club has told the local rag they have no interest in Reuben Reid. Not sure why the club has to comment tbh. Jordan Bowery is apparently our key striker target, but with all the rumours we're looking to move on Stead and Izale, its likely we'll be after a couple of others

Is Arnold FL quality, though? Didn't do the business at Cambridge IIRC.

Can't say for sure - his face/physique (or something) didn't fit for the manager.

He probably offers more threat and effort than 50% of the wingers we played against last season.

As Alan says, never got a chance in L2 as we had him the whole season.

Despite having an indifferent year last year, many teams still thought he was the best winger they faced. When he's on it, he's literally unstoppable. That's not very often though and a lot of time, he is anonymous. Would be a good conference signing imo.

No surprise to see Bowery coming back down the leagues. His move to Villa was an incredibly weird one.

Not for me. He's barely promotion winning Conference good enough. As said, when he's on it he's quality but it's just nowhere near often enough. I genuinely think we've dodged a bullet here.

Would have completely understood Toto's reasoning, if he had come out and just said that it was because of the isolated racist incident. However, it sounds like he's also lumping any performance related criticism in with that. Every club has got idiots with mobile phones and social media accounts. I think Hurst's, at times, questionable relationship with our support could have permeated through here.

That's two out of three of the players we should have offered the absolute best deals possible to that have left. Isn't it deadline today for Podge too? Expecting more bad news to come over the next few hours if so.

Is this Alex Rodman you're talking about?? If he's a decent winger at this level, I might have to revise my opinion of Nathan Arnold!

Not bothered about Arnold, as already alluded to, he's your typical lower league winger, on his day is excellent, but not consistent enough. Replace with any other numerous lower league wingers with the same attributes and hope they are consistent slightly more often.

Toto I'm indifferent about, good defender for us but prone to at least one mistake a game, which weren't punished in the conference, could well be in this league. still developing though and would have like him to stay and develop with us, but as many players and the manager have said about last season and the fans, seems he's the first to actually prefer a move because of the fans treatment. can't say I blame him, and wish him luck, though every player is replaceable.

Tait will be a big miss, arguably most fans player of the season last year, however we said that about Magnay and he was replaced with Tait. Lets see if this Zak Mills can live up to him, he sounds promising but there is a big difference between the conf north and national never mind Lge 2 and the conf north, hopefully he can step up.

FWIW, I'm not fussed about Arnold, there are better more consistent players out there. Tait will be a big miss as he is very consistent, a great attacking threat and an awesome defender; I'd go as far to saying he's the best fullback we've had in the conference (Townsend aside).
With Toto, I would've loved him to have stayed. Had bags of potential and his errors had become a lot less frequent as the season went on. He'll go on to play higher eventually.

Gregory wasn't/isn't streets ahead of Matt.

Laughable. Gregory scored goals in the Championship in a dog shit team and just took the piss out of League One. He's a million pound player. Matt failed at League One level and was released on a free.

Gregory is streets ahead of Matt.

Tait was the same for us in the conference but got found out a bit in league two, at this level he's definitely replaceable

It is Alex Rodman. Know naff all about him, but he seems to have had an ok season at Newport and played under the gaffer there, so you have to trust he knows a bit about him

Gregory went through some very lean spells in the Championship, his main drought being about the same length as Matt's at Fleetwood. The difference being that Millwall stuck with him, whereas Fleetwood saw fit to offload Matt. Having watched them both a fair bit during their times in The Conference, I really don't agree that Gregory is a lot better ability wise.

We're supposedly expecting two more signings today. Shaun Miller one of them.

Miller should be a good signing for you guys if he can stay fit. Good for 10-15 at this level minimum.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Arnold linked with us. Always seems close to be coming back.

When he was with us (few years ago mind) he was better when played just off the front man. Looked a bit lost out wide.

Got to feel bad for Morecambe whose best two players we've just nicked for free. Miller will be a good addition to our two bigger strikers Ibehre and Wyke I think, all three would be good for around 15 goals if played the whole season so it just depends who Curle prefers come the start of the season.

I reckon Knobsy will be on the phone chucking money at him to go up to Barrow.
