It's a free transfer as well which is a bit of a surprise. I was thinking the hold up might be because they wanted similar to what we paid for McGeehan. Guessing Palace have some sell one and other clauses in there though.

Jeez, we've got a young squad this year - can't remember us having a younger one (administration enforced aside). A young side, but one with bags and bags of potential. This was posted on our forum earlier by our resident ITK agent:

How ANYONE can honestly fail to be genuinely excited by the team we're building is unbe-fockin-lievable!

Eight siginigs. All quality at this level, every one can improve (even Mullins), every one a potential asset, every one better than the play they replaced. To top that off we've added six new youth players who have the potential to become Premier League players (ad if you don't believe me you can ask the eight PL clubs tracking five and four who've made offers).

More than ever, the future is bright etc.

Those 17-18 year olds are really going to be pushing the established players this season.

Jake Gray to Luton on a two year deal confirmed. Can't say I know anything about him to be honest. Has been the last one Jones had been trying to get in for the last few weeks which means our shopping is done and our squad looks a bit like this.

Goalkeepers
Christian Walton
Liam Gooch (Promoted from Youth Team)
Craig King

Defenders
Stephen O'Donnell
James Justin (Promoted from Youth Team)
Dan Potts
Alan Sheehan
Scott Cuthbert
Johnny Mullins
Frankie Musonda (Promoted from Youth Team)
Akin Famewo (Promoted from Youth Team)

Midfielders
Glen Rea
Nathan Doyle (Injured for the season)
Jonathan Smith
Olly Lee
Cameron McGeehan
Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu
Tyreeq Bakinson (Promoted from Youth Team)
Alex Atkinson (Promoted from Youth Team)
Jake Gray
Danny Green (Injured until Christmas)

Forwards
Isaac Vassell
Zane Banton
Josh McQuoid
Jack Marriott
Danny Hylton
Craig Mackail-Smith (Injured until November-ish)
Jordan Cook

Pretty happy with it. Love the amount of youth in there. Hope they can step up.

Not sure Atkinson should be considered part of the squad yet. After one of the PSFs, Jones name-checked Atkinson and McJannett as two who were not quite at the first team level yet unlike the centre backs, Justin and Bakinson.

Other than that minor nitpick, the squad looks solid for a top 7 push. Not convinced about top three - I have some lingering doubts. Midfield is the biggest one, but I also think there are some questions to be answered in the full-back positions (options are solid enough, but if we stick to the diamond we are demanding a huge amount from them going in both directions, Potts in particular is meh going forward and SO'D is defensively very suspect).

Even so, I'm excited for the start of the season and interested to see how it all comes together. I for one am certainly happy to be a bit more patient with a manager who emphasises bringing youth through and playing good football compared to last season's turgid mess with too many overpaid players on their way down the leagues.

That bloke is ITK but I do think he tends to go a bit OTT in his praise sometimes of some of the moves we make.

Distinctly recall similar things being said by him this time last year

Like JD I'm excited by the young squad but got a few reservations. Think we'll be in and around the top 7 though.

I agree that I don't think we're going to be quite good enough for the top 3 - although would love to be proved wrong.

Whoever posted that definitely ejaculated not long after. In fact they probably had their dick in one hand while they were typing it out with the other.

To be honest that most was a bit over the top, but the guy is always 100% on the money. Only person on Outlaws worth listening to when it comes to things like this.

I'm not going to make too many predictions as how well you have recruited is always relative too how everyone else has. However I do feel the the youth crop will give us that extra edge this year, bags of potential coming through.

Jake Grey was outstanding for Pools in one of the live TV games, against Orient I think.

Ps IIRC, he's left footed JD.

Morecambe have signed Michael Rose, who was released by us this summer.

A decent signing. He's a little bit short of pace now at left back, but reliable as a holding midfielder who.never hides during a game and takes effective set pieces.

Hope he does well for them!

Akpa Akpro finally confirmed for us
Another player who did a decent enough job in his spell at Spotland .Works hard, capable of scoring the odd worldie, also capable of missing sitters! :-)

Vadaine Oliver on loan. Fairly obvious we are going to piss this tinpot league.

That's got to be one as cover to make up the numbers. Oliver is an enigma; capable of the sublime but much more familiar with the ordinary. A very poor (living rough under the railway viaduct) man's version of Matt Green.

Likely to only be an option from the bench for the pies I'd wager.

Depends which version of Oliver you get from last season. Hopefully for our sake its the former and you make it permanent in January

First six months: looked a real handful, good in the air, decent finisher and put the effort in
Last six months: seemed to almost down tools, lazy, constantly caught offside and missed a number of sitters

A few reports coming out that Charlton want Gillespie off us to solve their keeper crisis. Unfortunately for them doing so would create a keeper crisis for us and we really have no reason to sell, and for him another good season at this level with a better defence and he could yet be looking higher than a League 1 club.

County struggling for cash or something? Poor signing that.

I thought he was alright, and tried hard, just poor quality - probably conference standard. I wouldn't want him make at Mansfield any time soon, that's for sure.

He'll inevitably score against us now

I'm absolutely amazed a team like Notts county has signed him, must have a good agent, for me he was a big part of the problem last season and certainly don't want him back, heart of a pea and not up for battle?

Just needed another body up there, I think. Will be Stead and Forte starting and Oliver probably starts behind McLeod and Campbell (sigh) as well. Still an odd signing, though, not sure we really needed anyone else before offloading someone.

Oliver is one of the worst strikers to play for us... Very lazy with hardly any quality. Did score a decent goal against Cheltenham but that was it. Think he'd do ok In the conference

Well, if as Jacob mentioned they've got him as a 4/5th choice forward on bugger all a week then it's not a bad one

That's exactly the version that we got. Certain games he was truly on it and fully committed, a real handfull; but then he'd disappear, get grumpy, miss sitters and generally carry a lousy attitude. There's a player inside there somewhere, it's just that nobody has managed to coax it out of him, least of all Vadaine himself.

As for one of the worst strikers to ever play for us??... What a load of arse that comment is. He wasn't even the worst striker we had in that particular dreadful season. You're clearly a very youthful supporter WH.
