Well, the local rags both say we can afford him financially (really?) and the meeting went well and we've made an offer.

I would seriously doubt we could offer anything like the reputed 5k a week Cox was on at Orient and I would expect nothing him to get better offers elsewhere. I wait with with interest.

Casey
He was on that £5k a week because after we lost the playoff final in 2014 he had scored 17 goals I think, and he got 20+ assists as well and was one the best players in League One and he was 26. Our new owner came in and the first thing he did, was tie Coxy down to a long term 3 year deal with him only having a year left on his contract - Which at the time was the correct decision, but to do so he had to pay him well - which he did.

After that, things all went downhill for us as a club as a whole, players were signed on stupid wages as well as relegation and its now bitten Becchetti on the arse and we've had to get rid of Coxy because in League Two, you can't pay silly money in wages unless you get good crowds.

You won't be offering him silly money because he is now 29 and still getting his fitness back after his ACL injury last season.

He would be a quality addition for Crawley and believe me he would prefer to sign for you above most other clubs - because it means he will get to be closer to his home in Haywards Heath.

So Ryan Inniss won't be making his debut for Sarfend for a while seeing as how he's been sent to prison and that.

No confirmation on the "Official" site but the twatersphere is abuzz with the news that Dean Cox has agreed to join Crawley.
Drummy tweeted that he was really impressed with Dean and was looking forward to working with him and Dean Cox replied; "All the best tomorrow GAFFER. See you Tuesday" (no next involved).

Gobsmacked, Knock me down with a feather, that would be excellent for us.

I remember when he was the best player in L2 last year.

Heh. Won PotM in August, then ruptured his ACL.

Great signing for the Creepies - doubt they've ever had a better player. Lucky a) our chairman is a dickhead and b) Cox is a complete homebody.

I quite like him to be honest and I'm quite surprised as to why he hasn't been given much of a chance - perhaps other people will disagree however. He'd be good in the Conference, definitely better than the average, but not top level. He'd make a good stake in a team going for playoffs.

What type of player? I'm assuming more defensive minded?

Quality player in the conference. Not really kept up with the comings and goings down there, but he will be one of the best centre mids in the league. Will do a job if you get promoted, but won't help you to challenge at the top end of league two. Would love him back at the moment, gives everything for the shirt

He could be the perfect holding partner for Alex Woodyard. He played the odd game at centreback but in front of the back 4 is his position. That said, he seemed to find reading the game and the pace of play a problem at L2 level and won't have have progressed at Barnet. Great attitude and great bloke.

It looks like this could be your season, although I can understand the unwillingness to get carried away this early. With so many of our former favourites on show, I might try to take in a game this season. Pity your match with Barrow clashes with our latest and probably pivotal effort to get a win on Saturday.

Cheers, chaps. Sounds promising.

So far this season we've had to made do, in the main, with right-back Bradley Wood in midfield who's done an admirable job to be fair, but we need a proper CM in there sooner rather than later. We've not really given Alex Woodyard a proper or consistent partner yet.

Believe he failed a medical at our place this summer. That Hartley we sighned is now turning out to be quite good after a slow start and tomorrow we look forward to seeing another guy who played for you last year in Boetang. Whats he like ?

Surprised if Hartley consistently cuts it at L1 level to be honest. Has the physical and mental side but gets turned too often and don't think he's ever tried to play a pass less than 40 yards! Would have been one of the players I'd have replaced at the end of last season if we were to go up.

Boateng is class. Occasionally goes missing but he's an absolute engine, will be fine in League 1, very good signing!

Rumour on Exeweb we've spoken to Reuben Reid....Apparently we've maxed out our budget so I would be surprised but equally happy.

Imagine if he signed in time from the Devon derby this weekend....!

A couple of years ago he was one of the best strikers in the league, now he's just been done over by his injuries. He'd probably pass a medical at us with flying colours based on previous signings though.

Not sure on how reliable the rumour is. Doubt we could offer him anything close to what he would be looking for either.

Again, no disrespect to Crawley, but it does seem to indicate a slight lack of ambition.
I get the fact that he is a bit of a homeboy but a footballer's career is a short one and I am certain that he would have had suitors from League 1 at least.
Terrific signing for Crawley though. I am a little jealous.

In fairness his lack of ambition is probably why he was at Orient for so long... Rejected Preston last season...

Rejected Northampton on deadline day also.

Assume Le Tissier was weird as well...?

Cox prefers happiness over ambition. So what? Good on him. Could do with more like him in (and out of) football.
I suppose £5k a week in L2 would make anyone happy...

Sure, it may be understandable staying at a club in the same division but L2 over the Championship. Nah.

Have you been to Preston? It's no surprise he chose to stay in London.*

We've signed Danny Collins, that defender who's usually in the Championship, until January. Never seen him play so I've no idea how good or fast he is.

For what it's worth he looked dreadful and past it when I watched Rotherham against Derby last year. I'm sure he'll do a job in L2 though.

So has Hurst finally realised Boyce isn't up to it as a regular starter in the league?

Hoping that his poor performance is due to his age plus the fact Rotherham were pretty garbage.

Boyce made a mistake in our second game and had an absolute mare of a first half vs Colchester and was rightly subbed at HT, not seen since. I don't think he's that bad tbf.

Given his caliber, I think that's a belting signing. Spent almost his entire career in the Championship and PL.

Given his age I'll wait before calling it a belting signing. We have all seen ex prem league players drop down the leagues trying to get one more season before retiring and failing. He's not exactly played a lot of games in the last few seasons either.

On a positive he will add alot of experience to the defence and I'm sure he will have intelligence and positioning to his advantage if he stays fit and plays.
He also adds a bit of competition especially for Andrews who from I've seen and heard is a bit of a weak link at the minute.

Finally confirmed that Cox has signed.
Contracted until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Is not that I'm a pessimist but I keep waiting for something to be wrong about this. Obviously I'm haven't seen as much of him as Orient fans but he is a really good player for league 2.

Yes. Crawley have pissed me of spectacularly especially since my good friend and esteemed associate Look Out There Are Llamas assured me he was signing for the Gas.
