Genuine question and not trying to wind anyone up but I am bemused at whats happening at Notts County. Renewed on a lot of ageing players and when you look on the local sports sites there is next to nothing mentioned about them. Is the confusion from the late manager change last season still settling down?

Pretty quiet on our forum rumour wise, both signings so far weren't mentioned prior to signing but one that is is Keith Keane, I know he used to be half decent but I've no idea what he's like nowadays.

He only played a handful of games for us whilst on loan last season but I wouldn't have been overly Keane on signing him, certainly not for the money he was likely to be on at Preston.

He had a couple of decent games for us, basically sat in front of the defence and broke up play, and didn't do too bad a job filling in at right back when required. Equally was anonymous for a few games also, these performances might be explained in part by the fact he'd collected 9 yellow cards from his time at Crawley, so was 1 yellow from a two game ban, which I suppose in itself isn't a good thing as he only played for them about 15 times!

Luton have signed Scott Cuthbert. Don't get that signing from Cuthbert's point of view; he is a top League One defender who was apparently drawing interest from Charlton and Millwall :dk:

"Top League One defender" sounds promising. I know nothing about him - does he have any pace? Prefer to play on the right or left side of central defence?

Sounds very promising. Happy with that, he's always been good for me on Football Manager!

Good signing that, always looked impressive when we were up against Orient in the past.

He's average in terms of pace. Has played predominantly at right back for us over the last two seasons, but I think his best position is centre back and will play on the right side of it. Doesn't have any obvious weaknesses and is pretty solid at everything in a division above; for me he was our best player last year. I prefer Mathieu Baudry to him from our centre backs, but that's mainly because Baudry is technically better - not to say that Cuthbert can't play, he can. Didn't expect him to stay, but as I say expected him to go into League One or the Championship so it's disappointing he hasn't. Doubt there are many better defenders in this division.

Baudry's always been much better than him imo, what's happening with him?

I wouldn't say much better. Cuthbert probably has a very slight advantage over him defensively; Baudry is probably slightly quicker but is technically excellent which is what puts him above Cuthbert. He's contracted for another season so hopefully won't be off.

I love the fact our signings nearly always come out the blue. Keane seems to be the exception, I can't remember the last time we signed a player who we'd been linked with before hand.

You've got yourself a very good player for this level here. He is a CB, but can play RB. He played RB for us when we finished 3rd and reached the playoff final and was very good there - But he had an excellent right winger in Moses Odubajo in front of him which is a massive help! He got found out a little bit last season at RB because all the players we played there bar Dean Cox were awful at tracking back and Scotty's one weakness is his acceleration - He is a bit slow to get going.

He had a poor season last season - But so did every single other defender we had, he was the best of a bad bunch.

He should really of got a League One Club, but Luton will be up there next season.

His last tweet to us summed it up for me, He basically said Leyton Orient had completely lost its way in the last year and he is right. I don't blame him for jumping ship because I would as well and he won't be the only one.

Good Luck to him.

We signed Ryan Taylor from Portsmouth on a 2 year contract this afternoon.

Yet another fighting to lead the line. We definately mean business up front next season. Not so sure about the back.

He's a good player. Seemed to fall into the shadow of Tubbs and Wallace last season but he's definitely one I'd have loved at the Abbey. I'm very surprised Portsmouth have allowed him to leave.

If Cuthbert is a right sided centre half who is as decent as described above it sounds a decent signing. Seems like he is able to cover 2 positions as well which is a bonus.

Having said that I hope he is here to primarily play centre half, a back 4 of Harriman (if we are able to get him), Cuthbert, Wilkinson and Griffiths sounds pretty good to me.

Keane had a very good game for Crawley when he played against us last season. He'd be linking up with Money again and he was a mainstay of our side at the time he was here so there's that link that makes it fairly plausible. Likely to be 2+2 making 5, you lot always keep your signings pretty quiet.

You certainly look like you're going for it.

Don't particularly rate Appleton's ability to get you to where you want to go, however.

Not a transfer as such but we've confirmed that Michael Gash has signed on for at least one extra year, which I'm pleased about. Him Akinde and Lisbie should be pretty potent.

You think John Still is ready to jettison Sumo? I'd be surprised if he doesn't start the season first choice even if he prob shouldn't. Expect Still to show respect and allow him to fail before UE drops him.

He's retweeted a load of messages from Cambridge fans welcoming him to the club so I think it's a done deal.

Definitely a big upgrade on Champion, needs the right partner alongside him but he's a good player for this level. Money slowly building a very solid looking spine again. It'll be interesting to see what kind of squad players you bring in as back-up, I can't imagine Legge, Roberts or Keet come too cheaply.

I think he'll wait for pre season to see what's what, just saying what id do really. But I think Wilkinson is better at this point and younger and this lads come from a l1 club and by many accounts seems half decent.

First half of the season McNulty was pretty good and a big part of a very good defence, second half of the season he had a precipitous drop off. I'd hope JS isn't sentimental about dropping him.

I think he is definitely here to play centrally, Still's comments in the press release were all about him competing with McNulty and Wilkinson, and Cuthbert in his interview said he came here to play centrally as it's his favourite position.

I think Cuthbert will be first choice, it'll be a straight competition between Sumo and Wilkinson as to who partners him if he stays fit. No way Cuthbert drops down to play second fiddle.

I like Keano. Likes a drink too.

Will be expensive - when he left here in the Conference, he would've been on about £1500-£2000pw, let alone the vast rise offered at Preston.

Given his career trajectory and damaged reputation I imagine he was always going to be taking a big drop in pay from his Preston contract this season to be fair.

Yes I don't know what we're spending but it's clearly going to be our biggest budget since at least 08/09 and probably some years before that too.

We're announcing our next signing at 6am tomorrow morning. Likely to be Keane, as Judge has said he's been retweeting Cambridge fans a fair bit so it's not the best kept secret!

Would be a good week if we sign Lee Holmes and Lewis Price, few people suggesting were after Scott Loach who i know nothing about. We Desperately need a decent keeper this year! Impressed so far with murrays three tiered recruitment process, should have some better players coming in compared to last season.

Too early to say but York and Newport to go?

Very good conference level striker.

Clubs are rarely brutal enough when they get promoted to L2, Mansfield have only just got rid of the conference era rubbish.
