Should be a busy couple of days at Notts. I don't expect us to do a Newport and sign a whole new team though.

Nolan will sign as a player, but realistically won't play. Kelvin Wilson seems a done deal. Likely to be a Striker, with rumours Stead is off to the US for a final pay day

It wouldn't be popular, I don't think, but i'd be happy for us to let Stead head off into retirement if it freed up the wages for us to strengthen with a replacement and elsewhere.

He's our most naturally talented player and our season fell apart when he got injured, but I think he's generally going to be a lot better in a good team and we obviously aren't one of those. There's probably not a more clinical finisher in this league, he strikes a ball incredibly cleanly and is capable of some lovely first time flicks, but us staying up is going to rely on working hard and hitting teams on the break. Stead can't hold the ball up, can't win a header and isn't fit or quick enough to run the channels. We've been shifting Forte out wide to accommodate him and I reckon we'd be better served with him offering us a genuine outlet through the middle and using Stead's wages to bring in some sort of target man who can actually get hold of the ball when we're under pressure.

We've signed John O'Sullivan from Blackburn.

If it's the player I'm thinking of he could be decent but not sure if I'm thinking of the right one from our game against Acc.

Any Bury or Accrington Stanley fans care to enlighten me?

Isnt that the twitter account that is just run by a couple of morons who make up rumours in the hope that one comes true? We've heard absolutely nothing about that transfer, think it might be bullshit.

I would not believe this one, has prank written all over it.

Well the player himself has confirmed on Twitter -

Absolutely delighted to announce Iv signed a 2 year deal with Plymouth argyle #pafc #buzzing

Come on - that's a blatant photoshop

Yep, could be a prank. Still if it's true, then it's just a league club taking a punt on some promising youngster who could move on for big money in the future. Nothing extraordinary about it at all, as I'm sure he won't be on big money.

edit - the bad photoshop job sure raises questions though

There's no way people have actually fallen for that, surely.
I think that this is genuine, I mean next thing someone will try saying that our marquee signing announced today is also a fake:

We've signed left-back/wing back/winger Liam Davies on a free.

Formerly at Coventry, Oxford, Northampton and Yeovil so has plenty of Football League experience. Can't say I've ever heard of him though and he was released from a team in the Swedish Second Division in November.

If I'm reading it right, Bradford have been claiming that they have triggered Wyke's release clause (nothing new they claimed that last week) but that we are delaying their progress... all we're saying is that we don't comment on player contracts.

I'm not sure what the ins and outs are, but I was wondering the other week why clubs couldn't negotiate release clauses that can't be triggered in January. I know if I was in a negotiating position I'd be willing to lower the price to trigger the clause in return for it only being triggerable in summer. Not that that's what's going on here, just sharing my random thoughts.

Maybe Keith Curle has snuck in and "rejigged the figures" in Wyke's contract.

I still expect him to go, just wish it wasn't so late as I can't see us bringing in a decent replacement with 1 day left of the transfer market.

Poor signing in my opinion and not a position we need, plus for an attacking midfielder he has scored very few goals for the amount of games he's played.

Probably end up rotting away on the bench.

Or playing up front when Wyke leaves at the last minute.

We've signed Mark Yeates from Blackpool. Was an excellent player a few years ago but doesn't seem to have done much there this season. Has to be an improvement on our current total of one winger who can't even get in the matchday squad.

Bradford have probably tried to be clever and offered the amount to trigger his release clause, but offered it in daft installments and clauses to make it upto whatever it is.

Either that or we're dragging our heels over it until we've got a replacement lined up. Not sure what difference that'll make mind, he'll still be away even if we don't get someone?

We have met his release clause (to quote McCall), yet Curle values him at half a million? Comes across as delay tactics and or an attempt somehow to get more money from the buying club (not sure why anyone would pay more than a set clause in his contract). Personally I'd be happy to move on from such time wasting, the reviews from Carlisle aren't even that great and I'd have no problem if we saved our £250k for someone else

£20,000 up front.
(Add ons to make up to the £250,000 buyout clause)
£5,000 if he plays 15 games for Bradford this season.
£10,000 if he wins promotion to the championship this season.
£20,000 if he scores 25+ goals next season.
£25,000 if he helps Bradford get promoted to the premier league within 3 years.
£30,000 if Bradford win the premier league within 5 years.
£40,000 if he gets capped by England while at Bradford.
£100,000 if he wins the Ballon D'or while at Bradford.

We're just a bit unsure we're going to see much of this 250k. I'm sure it will happen but CUFC just want a few tweaks to the above.

Paying at 'potential' mile stones isn't meeting the clause though is it, which it's been confirmed we have met. Even if though the above was the case, that doesn't tally with Curle's idea that the club can achieve more money than the £250k mentioned, surely once a bid matching the clause that Carlisle wrote into his contract has been matched then he should be free to talk?

You would think it should be that simple, but there must be some reason why it's taking so long.

The only thing i can think for the delay is that Curle is telling Wyke not to talk yet as there may be a championship offer coming (there were scouts watching him on Saturday from a few champ clubs). Maybe he's advising him to keep his options open for as long as possible as a better offer may come in.

McCall says it's met as far as he's concerned, whether it's actually been met isn't confirmed by us, HG could be right, it could be a case of Bradford thinking that potential payments can contribute towards the total, or he could be right in that it's Wyke stalling as there may be Championship clubs interested.

It wouldn't be in our interests to use skullduggery to derail a deal which met the clause, because we'd either lose him anyway but lose him too close to find a replacement, or we'd keep him but then get sued for breach of contract and have to pay a wantaway player for the next 6 months.

Maybe Curle's taken the ten grand the fans raised, put it in a brown envelope and passed it to Charlie with a note saying 'yours if you stay'

Pretty sure we're signing a striker tomorrow, Eoin Doyle and Andy Proctor seem to be the most likely.

According to a good source, Charlie Wyke is in Bradford today and the deal will be completed later on.

Hope we've got a replacement lined up or it's good bye top 7.

We're about to pocket £500k-£1mill from Ashley Westwood's move to Burnley.

So we're going to treat ourselves to a couple of League One reserve players.

Also expecting Harry Davis to leave today 'cos he doesn't want to be here without Daddy. Daniel Udoh also rumoured to be going, which will upset fans though I'm not quite on board with the obsession with him.

Apparently we're interested in George Waring from Stoke on loan, be quite funny if that's Wyke's replacement.
