We've signed striker Calum Dyson on loan from Everton until the end of the season.

Harry Davis has gone to St Mirren on loan. Thanks for the hilarity since Daddy was sacked. I don't think he's as bad a player as some make out but he had a very easy time with his Dad as manager. We are also desperate to clear the decks defensively and Harry has been a mainstay of a shit defence for years.

Now to find out what dirty scandal Turton is blackmailing the club with.

With a name like that I bet he gets lots of stick from the stands. But like a good lad, he just sucks it up and gets on with the game

Josh Clackstone from Hull on loan - not the experienced sort we expected but then in recent seasons we've tried that option with Andrew Boyce and Gary Mackenzie and they were both truly terrible

Reckon he'll stick with Audel and Duffy for now - they've looked alright since Nolan came in, but it's nice to have the option in case Duffy turns to shit again. Apparently can play right back too, which is useful as I don't really rate Tootle.

I have an irreversible hatred of Davis for constantly waving his arms and shouting at bawling at others when he made his own mistakes and he was often an error-prone and injury-prone player. Not to mention he was an absolutely dislikeable arrogant c-u-next-tuesday like his Dad and proved it with his utter contempt for the fans. Or the fact he was fast-tracked into the first team, his preferred position, two big fat contracts and the captaincy and seemingly had far more leeway for his mistakes compared to his other team-mates too!

That said the one time I remember him applauding fans off for once in his life he got a torrent of abuse from our lot at Cambridge!

I'm actually interested to see how he does without Daddy, but I do think he will end up returning to England and playing down in the non-leagues. A beneficiary of hideous nepotism and a main culprit in the club's decline over the last few years. Forget Mark Ellis, he truly was "the lucky defender" in our side. (Although Ellis was questionable at times himself but I did like him)

This time last month I genuinely thought his Dad was here to stay and he was due to sign a new two year deal on even dumber wages. I'm absolutely delighted we've got rid and he'll never wear our shirt again I'm confident.

As TW says, Turton next for a proper RB would be grand, but think Artell actually rates him and he's nowhere near as odious as "H" as he was often called.

We sign a second fucking striker in Louis Rooney on loan from Plymouth, what the fucking fuck.

Our 1-1-8 formation is gonna keep us up this year.

Letting your best player leave minutes before the deadline leaves with no backup...

As for us, this month was an ideal time to make a statement of intent. Imo unless we sign someone else, our squad is weaker than at Christmas.

Quite happy with our January.

Kean from wednesday is a quality keeper
White has proven to complete our defence thats now looking solid
Byrom and whiteman have been outstanding in the middle of the park
Shaw looks a handful up front
and now we've actually got two decent wingers at the club..

we could sneak into the play offs COYS!

Going to be an interesting second half of the season, with a number of teams losing key players and or releasing large numbers of squad players and then failing to replace them. Can see those teams who have done good business, or kept successful squads intact just marching away with it now. Transfer windows this season were always going to be a shaky affair with the changes that were made to the rules.

Bogle to Wigan confirmed, fee around £1m-£1.5m. Happy for him, more than played his part in getting us promoted and he's developed tremendously as a player. He deserves the move. £1.5m I feel was right, anymore was wishful thinking although any less would be disappointing.

Think everyone behind the scenes knew this was coming as we've spent pretty big this window. We just need to offload some of our 13 midfielders now!!

FFS. Absolute shit timing and Wigan can fuck off, what a crappy little excuse for a club. I would be much preferred him to have gone to Leeds or Forest. The money will come in useful, of course. Let’s hope these new signings start chipping in with their share of goals though, as we're screwed if we can't replace most of Bogle's.

As said above we have signed players this month already as if Bogle was going. I bet we only got Sam Jones yesterday because of the money we got for Bogle.

Anyway he was always going to go in the summer and getting one million plus for a Bogle is a great bit of business imo after signing him for only 30k 18 momths ago.

Everyone complained when Connell, Hearn, and Amond left and everytime someone else came in or stepped up and scored plenty of goals.

I reckom Sam Jones could be a great signing and we will see how good Asante is. But the rest of this season is about building for next season, the play offs were and still are a long shot for this season so losing Bogle is not as big a loss for us as if we were fighting for promotion right now and we have funds to sign players in the summer

We signed Yussuf, Asante & Dyson before Bogle left...

any idea how the deal works? Doubt you got seven figures straight up.

Still feel it would of been best to wait till the summer.

If we were a top 7 side I would agree however even with Bogle we aren't, and we aren't relegation side without him so doesn't make a huge different to our last few months of the season

Plus don't think we could turn down 7 figures, besides the way he has been playing the last few games, especially Saturday his head hasn't been with Grimsby.

Fair enough.

Is it fair to say we have strengthened Best this window?

Brought in a decent goalkeeper, managed to get a fee for Clements while replacing him with two superior central midfielders is likely the best bit of business.

Arquin is the only signing I'm not particularly happy with.

Overall good business done by Notts. I'd probably have liked some big experience thrown in but you never know, Shola might turn out alright. Gotta be better than Oli Palmer...

Hopefully we have added pace and some creativity because both were badly lacking. It seems a lot of hype around Jorge Grant is going to be decent.

It's gonna be a battle over the next 4 months, just hope these loaners are hungry enough. The premiership lads worry me cause they get so mothered and ridiculously well paid, they give up when they are being kicked off the park

Still can't believe we got a fee for Clements. Haha.

Arquin seemed alright at blackpool, off the boil at county then we've not really bothered with him - well down the pecking order.

I absolutely hate saying stuff like this as it only comes back and bites you - but if we don't make the playoffs this season you can't help but feel that next season could be something pretty good.

Either we've settled for a likely mid table position but we'll give it our best shot or........

........Corr, McGurk and Elito will be back in the next few weeks and we're now set for our play off push.

With current injuries, the squad is probably a stronger mid-table prospect with less expensive dead wood, so I think we all agree it's the former -

Loan signings - Max Clark (MF) extends loan, Gerry McDonagh (striker) and Scott Wharton (CH)
Transfers (Fees paid and longish contracts for all of them) - Jake Carroll (LB), Paul Lewis (MF) finally Liam O'Neill (MF) with a 3.5 year contract.

Out - Omozusi, Keane and Adams. Dallison and Long finished their loans
Out on Loan - Piggott (also youngsters Foy & Darling who look certain to be in next season's squad and may feature before the end of the season).

How did Grimsby get over a million for Omar Bogle when he isn't even half as good as what Charlie Wyke is and we only got something like £250,000 for him?

Fucks sake like!

Anyway I bet all that money Grimsby received will never be put to good use. When do lower league clubs ever put good transfer money to use these days?

Maybe they're better at dealing than you are?

And/or Bogle was seen as being better/better investment than wyke.

A bit of an underwhelming deadline day for us with only four moves, all out, but then we did a lot business earlier in the window.

Sesay's contract being terminated was expected as he's hardly figured for us and was rumoured to be training at other clubs to get a move.

Tomlinson is probably crocked for the season and is travelling down from his base up north, so that also makes sense. If he heals quicker than expected from a muscle tear then he can set himself up with a club as he's a free agent.

Akpa Akpro to Yeovil on loan is a strange one as he was one of only two senior player that we had that could take on the number 9 role should Akinde miss out through injury or suspension. That left us with only 2 recognised front men in Akinde and Nicholls.

Nicholls to Dundee United on loan is even stranger as it leaves us with just Akinde for now and who in Dundee United was looking at Barnet for a loan player?!

At least another window came and went without Big John leaving. We just have to hope he continues his very good injury record and doesn't pick up a ban over the next month and a half.
