Proctor was our plan B if Doyle loan didn't materialise.

Which of the two strikers does the business could well decide the 3rd promotion spot.

I honestly don't think we'll be in the mix for top 3, but I'm hopeful that our January signings (Gary Liddle, John O'Sullivan, the lad from Stoke and Proctor) have strengthened us enough to rubber stamp top 7.

Maybe location favoured us for Proctor. He's from Preston. That's a fair trip to Pompey.

Funnily enough we signed Proctor on loan around this time last year and he did a good job tbf, scored a few and is reasonably skilful, I reckon he's a good signing for L2 although I can't say Bolton fans will say the same

There was talk on twitter last night that you were going back in for him if the Wyke deal didn't happen. Funny how things materialise.

As for Wyke. He's all about service, he's slow as fuck and doesn't possess much skill to do things on the ball, but if he gets good service he will score goals that's for sure.

i still think you'll be right up there. There's a pack starting to grow which could well see 3rd being very competitive over the next few months.

If Doyle is the missing link to cure our powderpuff possession home tactics, then I fancy us to put a bit of a run together.

If not then we'll tread water in and around the play offs.

How did Grimsby get that? Did you mortgage the entire town?

We've had/created the 4th most shots in the football league or something. We desperately need a finisher. Gone shit or bust this window by signing Wyke and Alex Jones who've scored 23 between them so far this season.

Proctors a good signing for this league, won't necessarily bag loads but does all the donkey work well and is quite intelligent.

Has major injury problems, struggled to get a run in the side because of it. Has good pace though and can play either wing.

How's Byrom getting on? Keeping things ticking I imagine.

Yeah, he's doing pretty alright it has to be said.

We had Clements before who wasn't really that good so we farmed him out to Grimsby got Byrom - the lads a class above both Clements and whatever he's came up against in this league so far - he was with you wasn't he?

He seemingly has a lot of time on the ball

We've not had a finisher since Wells (to carry on the links), so for that reason I'm pleased to have someone to put the ball in the net. This season we've been all about being missing chances, a low goal tally and the most draws in the top 5 leagues but we do create a fair bit so that sounds promising.
Proctor is a good age, good build, will score a couple, decent hold up and like I say is surprisingly skilful, I genuinely think he'll do a good job. Probably the odd alarm bell given the amount of teams he's gone though already but plenty would have kept him here last summer but he followed Parkinson to Bolton and it just hasn't worked out.

Our hapless, mis-firing 'target man' Michael Smith has joined Northampton on loan for the rest of the season.

Scored goals in his early days at Swindon, but been a big disappointment in his time here. Started out low on confidence, and only got worse. There's a player in there somewhere. Maybe a move will kick-start him again.

Jamie Procter was at Crawley for a time. Definitely a good buy for league 2.

The big problem he had when he was here was he couldn't score a tap in. Worldy yes! Tap in, no.

Can't help but feel bad for Smith. Tried hard but we've slowly seen his confidence be utterly sapped by some of the nastier elements of our crowd over the course of this season.

Apparently we might have one more coming in. A right back?

I've said previously, our home support is the biggest hindrance to us at the moment in my opinion.

Smith might not have set the world alight, but with the ever ongoing pressure he could undoubtedly feel from the crowd, he was never going to crack it. The first misplaced pass, and the moaners were straight on him. Completely counter productive.

Hopefully the move will do him a world of good. I wish him well.

Joe McKee has left carlisle by mutual consent.

This would suggest we may be close to getting a midfielder...

Exactly. Any chance he had of regaining his confidence was gone when he became the latest scapegoat (taking the crown from Bennett..).

As for this right back, he apparently hasn't played a League game yet so it seems like he'll just be used as backup? Reckon a few people expecting this to see Evans pushed up the pitch might be in for a surprise..

I'm sorry but Pat Hoban is absolutely fucking awful.

So is Ollie Palmer youth.

Like I said I have seen both plenty of times and I rate Hoban over Palmer easily, although he's likely to drop a level I imagine.

It's got to be said we have done great business in this window, barring Arquin although I suppose he can do a job off the bench.

Surely. Looks unlikely we will be signing a left back now, sadly.

Jordan Green signs on loan from Bournemouth.

Another nail in the coffin, remember how limited he was for Newport when they beat us back in August :2thumb:

How late in the day does it have to be before I can announce to everyone - Your (insert name of your club) new signing (insert name/s of your fresh face/s) are absolute dogshite. (Insert name of your manager here) has dropped a right bollock there and you're (going down/staying down).

Scrap that, looks like that's us done for today. Leaves us with 19 senior players and a couple of those are already injured, definitely think we're lacking any sort of depth. Cannot believe we've gone a whole month without bringing in a natural left back.

We've already signed another keeper!

Matt Macey from Arsenal, hopefully he is better than Moore, although I do feel for the lad, was put in a real tough spot.

Despite losing our top scorer, I think we look ok in the striker department with these 2 signings.

As for the rest.... it's been a shocking January which will cost us promotion I think. Getting rid of Atkinson, Brough, Wright and Ellis and not bringing in a single defender is criminal. No left back is an absolute fucking disaster.

Releasing McKee is a strange one when we've got no one coming in the other way. Kennedy and Jones out injured. We're extremely light in that area as well.

I approve. I know a lot of fans think we need #experience and #leaders for a relegation battle but we have enough grafters in my opinion - side and squad lacks energy and mobility which hopefully the 3 today gives us.

It's an incredible show of faith in Hollis, Duffy and Audel if we don't sign a centre-back though. (likewise Forte and Stead upfront, the former being injury-prone albeit fine so far this season, the latter just shit). Although there's the possibility of Ameobi signing in a week or so.

Oh, Hardy's just said there's one more...centre-back surely? (wouldn't be opposed to a target man or winger though, I like shiny things).

Sent Alex Nicholls off to Dundee United on loan. That's 4 out today.

We're slightly lacking up front now - would be nice to have someone cover/provide competition for Akinde. Especially if this little drop in his form turns into a longer-term thing.
