I like the conference. Home and away fans sharing the terraces and winning on a regular basis.
Although after 2-3 seasons the novelty can wear off.

Yeah, but you went down for one season 13 years ago and came back first time. You don't count o_O

Rovers only went down there for one season... and Leigh RMI weren't even there then. IMHO you haven't really 'been' to the Conference unless you were there at the same time as Leigh RMI.

I think getting tonked 4-0 by Hayes and Yeading is the barometer of having been to the conference, unless the fishy folk saying losing 5-0 to Braintree is worse - I doubt it.

Aren't you forgetting someone?
Apologies. Although, technically I reckon you lot were in the "old skool" Conference. The one that the Barnet, Wycombe, Morecambe, Accrington and Cheltenham fans will remember. Barnet and Wycombe are the only two league sides to have experienced that and the current sort of Conference, ie. mainly professional clubs and always at least one to four clubs throwing the kitchen sink at promotion.

That ground is long gone now as well! Replaced by flats. I saw us draw 1-1 their in a preseason friendly in 2009. Their club/programme shop was a thing to give any lower leagues enthusiast a full on boner. I've never seen so many football programmes and videos/DVDs all in one hut, with the bloke running it watching a video of the 1995/96 Premier League season I think it was as opposed to watching the game!!

Surely Cheltenham too then... you're forgetting teams left right and centre... I guess a spell in the conference can induce such amnesia.

My horse fell over in the National that day too. Not to mention it was so hot and I spent the entire 2nd half leant on a wall holding my head up with my hand and woke up the following morning with a sunburnt handprint on my face. By an absolute country mile the biggest set of fucking wasters to ever play for our club. Steven Istead, Luke (I don't train on Monday's) Medley and Kevin Sandwith. Fraudsters the lot of em.

That was such, such, such a bad own goal.

I never thought we'd ever get out - for a while it looked like we'd give it more of a go down than up.

How any Mansfield fan could not be greatful to JR is beyond me. The concept of being in the conference itself makes me shudder - being down there with no hope? oh dear.

I think those who only want 2 up 2 down are short-sighted and self-protecting.

And us. We played Carlisle in the conference, and Leigh RMI (we lost).

The holier than thou from the ex football league clubs that were there really grated. It was not the other teams fault your team were shit and got relegated but the whining everyone else got when you had to come and play against us disgusting tin pot clubs was a true lesson in hubris.

3 up 3 down and yes you will get a horrible little club get promoted sometimes and so what. They earned the points they get the reward.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I think he was referring to non tin-pot teams who have spent time down there. Or put more diplomatically, you don't count because you've never been relegated into the Conference and the time you were there, it was the highest division you'd ever played in.

One thing that I never realised until we went down was how many of our fans had never seen us in non-league before (it had been 16 years in fairness). Some of the patronising attitudes from a lot of our fans were embarrassing. They had very much forgotten where we had come from.

I can't get on the Conference is hell bandwagon because for us it was our best season in years. Had we been getting beaten 3/4-0 to the likes of Guiseley (and I mean them no disservice there) then I'd probably have hated it, but to be honest last season pisses all over some of the dross I've seen this season.

I still maintain it should go back to being 1 up/1 down, I can accept 2 up/2 down, but I think there is a difference between the Football League and the National League and I think that difference needs to be maintained. You can call it me wanting to shut the door after we won promotion, but I was very much in this camp before last season started.

When you arrive to your stadium 20 mins late just as Halifax put the 2nd past you in what ends up being a 0-4 defeat you really realise how shit it is down there.

Exactly how we felt when you beat us 3-1 :fish:

Actually the first Conference game I ever saw was Chester v Barnet in 2002 I was at Uni in Liverpool and a mate was a Barnet fan and convinced a group of us to go along with him to the game. We had a good day out, you lot had Yakubu playing for you, the fans spent the whole game singing 'Yakubu Yakubu Yaka Yaka Yakubu' it was on telly, can't remember the score, the Barnet supporters coach gave us a lift back to the station, the Chester fans were yobbing stones at it on its way out.

Yakubu was such a decent defender, shame his injuries have fucked his career and he's playing for tiny tiny Woking.

Bogle got a brace tonight playing for small-time club Wigan. Just imagine what he would've done had he gone to a big side like Rotherham.
Surely he'd never have made Rotherham's starting line up in a million years. They'd have loaned him out to Spartak Moscow or Anderlecht to gain experience for about two years before selling him.

Eh you must be getting confused Vanni, Bogle was sold to Rotherham for 1.2M weeks ago, SERNWA said it was happening so are you trying to tell us that that was all bullshit? :dk:

and Shrewsbury, they went down and came straight back up the season before we did.
Are you two both stupid, or taking the piss?

Does this not depend upon which parallel universe you inhabit right now? Which universe SERNWA is in I could not say, though I suspect it is divergent than parallel.

Fenty has confirmed some of the add on fees for Bogle include number of appearances, if Wigan don't get relegated and if they ever make it back to the premiership, as well as a sell on percent.

He also confirmed Leeds came in at the last minute but weren't prepared to beat Wigans offer.

Looks like our loan 'signing' of Jordan Green isn't now going through thanks to an administrative error, which dovetails nicely with Ulrich N'Nomo's loan 'move' to Paris FC which didn't go through thanks to an administrative error.

Pools fans -

I see we have signed Jordan Richards on a one month loan from yourselves.

Can you tell me anything about him?

Very odd move. Can't fathom it at all. We have no cover at RB and he's gone, we shipped off Deverdics back to Dover, sold 3 in the transfer window and replaced them with two kindergarten forwards on loan. Think the plug is going to be pulled on us soon.

Richards is decent on his day but maybe not a football league player week in and out. Good going forward, defensively can be suspect against the league's better wingers. I'd say he's a solid siging for any Conference team, let alone Conference North, should be pretty good there. Very strange move.

Sounds good. Thanks for the reply. We have really struggled down the wings all season and this was once again exposed in the County Cup in midweek. Good to see us actually do something about it and bring a decent player in. Certainly wont be an easy start for him as he is facing arguably the best winger in the league in Danny Lloyd who has scored 20 goals this season for Stockport.

Pulling the plug?!

Long story but in short I think we're fucked. Had three winding up orders, all of which our chairman arrogantly dismisses in the press and twitter, we're taking out loans secured against the club's assets from companies the equivalent of Wonga, we have some very shady individuals involved in the background trying to buy the land around the ground to develop property. Not looking good.

If our fans could stop bickering with each other (some have their head firmly shoved up the chairman's arse) whilst others have been doing their research then the trust could take over the club but because of politics there's a section of our fanbase who mistrust the trust (nice rhyme) more than our slimey PR guru who we call the chairman.

How did Richards get on? The lad has probably only started 5/6 games this season for us, been MOTM in half of them and the worst player in the other games. He's had a difficult career so far, but usually holds his own in our league, so would expect him to be comfortable in CN. Hopefully you have a handy striker who can stick his head on the end of some of his crosses.
