Are people fancying Mansfield to do well this season? Noticed they've made a lot of signings, some of them seem like decent coups.

We could have Messi Ronaldo and Bale and still do bugger all. Some very good signings that make it look like strongest squad for a long long time, but we always do things the mansfield way which is far from the simple and easy.

I believe it's a reference to one of the Cheltenham fans last summer who was confident his team were going to piss this tinpot league. It's then been a running joke all season about who is going to join already-promoted Cheltenham in League One.

Not bantz, Lincoln are already 2017/18 League 2 champions.

Ah got you, they might have had a chance if they signed Rakish Bingham

Must be something else with Jake Gray as from the outside looking in the way he has been treated has been piss poor by Jones never a proper run in the side when in my view he deserved it and when he did play in my view did far more than the waste of space Cook.

oh dear...cooke and mpansey retained to go into next season???
avin a laff???

and don't forget Lee, the 'most technically creative' player in the club (apparently - can't say that I've noticed myself)

What a midfield we have in sight - has Jones learnt nothing?

Surely Jones will look to replace them though wouldn't he? And it is only May, so still plenty of time left for signings.

To be fair it's a bit early to judge whether Jones has learnt anything yet - there's easily space in the squad with the outgoings to sign two new midfielders. If they are both experienced, combative, box-to-box leader types then the midfield would have a whole different outlook all of a sudden.

Of course more likely they will both be 5 foot 5 wingers he wants to convert to central players...

Sounds like Curle and his 'projects' it usually signals the end of a player's professional career when Curle refers to him as a project.

You'd hope he has learned but this was all absolutely obvious to everyone else in January and he bought in 2 more wingers!! Plus he subbed on Cook during the second leg of the playoff semi at a critical moment of the match no less - not the actions of a man who has learned anything IMO

Let's see what his signings are over the summer but if Cook or for that matter Lee are playing key roles come opening day then I think Jones is going to have some heat coming his way from a large section of supporters.

He is only 21 too. So has lots more potential than someone like Cook who's in his late 20s.

Disappointing Jake is leaving; I thought he would come good this coming season.

We've signed a striker and it's due to be announced tonight.

Expecting Jabo Ibehre based on rumours.

Edit - now hearing it could be Dean Bowditch.

Donal McDermott (Winger) and Jordan Sinnott (Centre midfielder) due to sign for us over the next few days from Rochdale and Halifax respectively, one might even be announced as early as 12pm today...

Had McDermott on loan in our last season at saltergate back in 09/10 and he was fantastic, here's hoping for the same McDermott (hopefully even better) to walk through the door. The other Sinnott has apparently had a great season in the conference for Halifax after being released by Huddersfield, I remember him
Being highly rated there a few years ago so looking forward to him coming in and bolstering the midfield...

Once again two more fantastic signings taking our total to 5 for the summer so far (If they come in). Going about our business quietly so far with teams not taking much notice, but it's starting to look like a team that can really challenge for the top 7 next season. Hopefully exciting times ahead after the last season we have just had!

Up the SPIREITES!

Looks like a player is likely to sign tomorrow. I'm hopeful it's Grant but somewhat doubt it

He has only been there one season, was released by Huddersfield last year I believe, and can remember him being highly rated there. Halifax have had a few players make the step up to the football league in recent years, Lee Gregory, Dan Gardner and ofcourse, Jamie Vardy. Think him and Jon Nolan would be a good midfield for this level, however still think we need a midfield enforcer type of player to do the other side of the game

Ahh Lee Gregory, think we sold him to Halifax for like £5,000.

Mickey Demetriou re-signed on a 2 year contract. Great bit of business, squad shaping up nicely. 21st placed finish must now be a possibility next season.

David Mirfin a good signing for you lot, probably your best of the lot so far, always rated him when we've come up against him in both league 1 and 2. Very similar to the mould of our very own Ian Evatt, always need a big colossal of a man at the heart of defence to get out of this league:lol:, no matter how pretty the style of play! Looking forward to our battles next season...

Non league striker Gozie Ugwu signs 2 year deal with us after joining from Woking. Scored 21 goals last season and been described as a big powerful quick striker.

I've not seen much of him so can't really give an opinion but looks exactly the type of player we've been crying out for since big Steve Fletcher left back in 2008!! Strong, can hold it up, and also has goals in his game... Look forward to watching him link up with Kristian Dennis next season!

Our local paper correspondent reckons we have a wide player coming in tomorrow who would be a 'class' signing. Chairman has previously talked of bringing in 'one of the best in the division last season.'

I have absolutely no idea who it could be.

Looked good last season for Woking. We played them towards the end of last season and he could do a bit of everything. He was good at holding the ball up, but quite capable of getting in behind as well as being physically tall and strong.

Being a striker is probably the hardest position to go from NL to the FL. He's had a fair amount of chances in the FL and failed, though.

Good to hear a positive about him. I suppose he's got an opportunity now to show that he can do it at this level. He's a good age at 24 and it's refreshing to see the club take this approach in the transfer market which we've been successful at in the past, instead of signin cast offs looking for their last pay day such as Ebanks-Blake like we have done over the past couple of seasons
