It was in that sort of ballpark yeah. I could see us going a bit higher than that for sure should the right player come along but no way would we go near a £400k bid currently.

Who knows. As I said before, we due to get £600,000 for Andre Gray this summer, plus maybe another few hundred thousand for Pelly Ruddock if Jones does decide to sell him, plus maybe over a million for McGeehan. We could afford a big big bid on someone if the requirement was there. Its the way football has gone unfortunately - lots of money for average players.

There will come a stage when/if we travel up the leagues, we'll have to sign these high profile players to keep competing. I can see us spending £1m on a player within 5 years.

We're set to sign Scott Laird on a two year deal from Scunthorpe, according to Sky sources. An experienced left back is exactly what we needed, that should mean we don't see a lot of Wishart there which can only make us more solid.

Will be a great signing for you and I'm sure he'll make himself a fan favourite within no time. If he's prepared to drop into League Two I'd like to have thought that we'd have shown some interest but even if we did I highly doubt we could match what you're offering, plus he's from the west country I believe so you'd have that in your favour too.

I missed this a couple of weeks ago, but Cowley has said they're after a goalkeeper, up to three defenders, one or two central midfielders, three wide men and three forwards.

Sounds about right, especially with no loans outside of the transfer window like last season. That might change slightly if the three who have offers on the table sign their deals.

Doubt they'll also be permanent signings with 2 or 3 loan ones.

Very good left back, will chip in with a few goals too. Walsall fans were wanting him back here for next season but it seems our management have gone for a different, younger, and a much cheaper option too in Luke Leahy (as Laird is on quite a bit of wack!). Will be fantastic in League 2, was amongst our best performers in League 1 only a few months ago so he'll be superb down here.

That's something we're having to cater for as well, some of the loans we brought in in the last few months of the season made a massive impact, so not having that option to strengthen whenever we need to is going to take some getting used to.
Plus it'll mean we'll run with a bigger squad.

If you get him you'll love him. Can't tackle, terrible at covering back( he try's bless him) but when he's on it he's great. He'd give league two defenders a stroke tbqpfh.

I would disagree and think he's been messed about with position wise all season. With a stable management, there's much more to come from him this season.

Think we'd need to be careful with that one - there's clearly a player in there and the Cowley's will undoubtedly know what's likely to bring it out of him.

Also, we need to be adding to our squad, not cutting!

With the number of attacking players we have coming through I don't think we need him. He's quick and works hard but that's about it. Not a great first touch and doesn't score enough goals. I think there's potential for him to improve, but not by much.

Agree that he should be on the left instead of behind the striker, but we have a huge squad and need to get some players off the wage bill. He's one of a few average players who I'd move on. The squad is more than big enough, it's quality not quantity we need.
