First 2 signings seem to indicate that Jones is taking on board some of the mistakes of last season, hopefully a few more to follow.

Based on previous comments from Jones I think we'll be getting four more players - a back-up keeper, a young back-up/rotational right back, a "marquee" (relatively) striker signing ala Hylton (Collins is the name most strongly linked but sounds like we may miss out, that type of signing seems on the agenda though), and one other which is unclear. I would assume another midfielder, we were linked strongly with Sercombe (to the point that it seemed to go beyond idle speculation that we were interested) so I'm guessing an established box-to-box type is the aim.

Then I guess we would have to see what happens with McGeehan, would we try and replace him if he goes? I'd be inclined to think not, we'll not replace his goals but we have Gambin for the tip of the diamond as a different option and I'd like to see us play the 3-5-2 more next season which doesn't really include the McGeehan role. Also if we are going all-out for another "top" striker I'd like to see us try a 4-3-3 type formation at some point as Vassell and Marriott will be pushing for involvement you would hope.

Our manager is now officially in the building. I'm getting impatient for signings but only because there's a lack of footie going on.

We probably need about 10 players.

Very pleased with our signings so far. We don't need to do an Evans and sign a brand new team. As above, we just need to strengthen in those key areas and we won't be far away.

These players can't be coming cheap though. They're both those who should be playing a league above.

Ritchie Humphreys was still on the go last season?! Bloody hell, I'm sure he was at Sheff Wednesday at the same time as Chris Waddle and Des Walker.
Scary thing is we actually we're forced to play him too. Sums up our season

We've had offers for 3 players accepted according to the local paper.

EDIT - Seems it's 3 offers, 2 accepted.

3 maybe 4 signings coming up for us apparently.

Looks like we are trying to blow half our wage budget on Chris O'Grady so wonder how the eggs in one basket approach will work. Last time we did that we signed Sylvain Ebanks Blake on a 2 year deal and he ended up causing a brawl at Shrewsbury's Christmas party.

Billy Knott is on the transfer list here, reckon he's one of the 3?

Depends if he would probably accept a lesser wage compared to the likely higher offers elsewhere? No doubt he enjoyed being on loan here and got on decently with the club and the Cowleys. Would be a very good signing if we could get him IMO.

He's allowed to leave for nothing, so we'd not need to bid for him as such.

I imagine we're interested in him, though.

I'm not sure if he's allowed to leave for nothing, he's just available should someone want him. If there's a few clubs interested in him then I'd be surprised if we let him go for free as he's under contract for another year, unless it's a last resort. Wouldn't be an impossibility though.

Our club has released this statement;

Following continued speculation about the future of FGR players in local media, we can confirm a number of substantial offers have been made for squad members after last season’s success, and we believe more are likely to be made.
We’re committed to keeping as many players from last year’s squad as we can, while focusing on building a team ready for the demands of life in the English Football League. We will not be making further comment unless we have news to announce.

We're in for him as well as yourselves and Rotherham.

May have the edge as he's worked with Flitcroft a lot before.

We've just signed a striker from Everton - Delial Brewster and Jordan Sinnott from Halifax.

If that is the type/wages/experience of players we are chasing you can rule us out of O'Grady right now.

The rate we are going you will need a CRB/DBS check to get in the ground if we sign anymore kids.

Delial Brewster has signed for Chesterfield from Everton.

Be interesting to see how he manages to get on in league 2 after being sent back to Everton as he couldn't get into southports (who were relegated to the conference north) match day squad

Cheltenham/Grimsby fans - Can you tell me anything about Ryan Jennings who had a loan spell at yourselves during 2015/16?

Same here:dk:
Keith Curle made a comment about other teams sorting out their transfer business while we were still competing the playoffs putting us at a disadvantage, maybe the same is true for you, though Luton seem to be signing people. I suppose with Luton though you have to factor in that every young player in Europe dreams of one day playing for Luton.

We've signed Charlie Cooper permanently. Hardly a shock but a good signing imo, still young, improving and did well for us last season.
