Apparently we've rejected two bids for Ethan pinnock from Barnsley, the second one being 200k we definitely want to keep this lad as he's something special.

I would take nothing less then 500k with a 50% sell on clause. The lads going right to the top. Future international.

Curtis Thomson has re signed for Notts.

I like Curtis and think he has the attributes to be a very good player at this level. He's been quite injury prone over the last few seasons and has the odd mistake in him which means he gets a lot of stick. For some reason, our fans have not been forgiving to our academy products recently

So I see that it's being suggested that Cameron McGeehan is virtually confirmed to be a Barnsley player?

Hopefully we're at least a million richer...

Stevenage have signed striker Dan Newton from Conference North side Tamworth.

Looking forward to see how he does, we can't go out and sign proven League 2 goalscorers so more than happy to take a punt on someone who's scoring well at a lower level.

It worked for us last summer with Matty Godden who scored 30 goals at the same level, Newton bagged 29, if we get a player even half as good as Godden then we've done well.

Talking of Godden, someone on Borochat has linked him, Pett and Franks with moves to Lincoln. Would be stunned if we were prepared to let Godden go to another League 2 side and unless they're throwing around silly money I don't see it. Pett could have something about it, on the transfer list currently. Don't know about Franks, not even sure if he's under contract or not.

I think his 'source' came from a look on our forum to see Godden and Pett's name being thrown around more than anything concrete. They've not even been mentioned properly at this end, only in passing amongst a few fans on a message board.

Joe Davis signs a two year deal, centre half who came through our academy and left for Leicester and has returned three seasons later via Fleetwood.

Happy enough with that as shown some promise before and could end up with two youth products and centre half. Need to get Bikey signed to complete that area though.

One or two more expected today (assume Montanto and the Bury keeper)

Not convinced he's going to be quite good enough for this level. Sitting in Leicester's reserve team won't have done him much good either.

Did alright for us in League One (played 24 times for us in L1).

We need to get a beast though (i.e. Bikey to sign) as neither Nathan Smith as class as he is nor Joe are particularly tall.

Apparently Eagles was seen modelling the new kit with Pope so if he signs then I'd be chuffed and feel we are moving in the right direction!

Screw Mansfields new team, we have re-signed Shola Ameobi

He shouldn't be good. But he was basically a massive part in our huge form upsurge towards the end of last season. The ball just sticks to him

I've always liked Newcastle so the thought of seeing Ameobi at The County Ground is a definite plus for the coming season.

Such a quality rubbish player.

This league is truly blessed by the presence of Shola. He's great.

Still need to sign a younger, quicker striker to take some of the pressure off him and Stead, though.

Good signing for Vale, I liked Montano. Puts in a good cross and quite direct, has his off days but all wingers do. Hopefully he gets regular games and does well there!

If he can feed the Pope i.e. deliver a cross onto his noggin then he will be well received!

Get Eagles on the other side and I will be happy.

Sky are reporting that we're set to sign Mark Gillespie on a 2 year deal. What's he like Carlisle fans? He looked absolutely pants in the play offs.

In the playoffs you saw both sides of him. Woeful goals to concede, but then produced some brilliant saves second half.

He is a talented goalkeeper, he's had some matches where he's looked like De Gea (ask Portsmouth fans about the game at Fratton last season), but sadly the playoff errors were the latest in what's become a catalog of fuck ups. Routine saves that have gone through his hands as if they are made of custard. There must have been at least 10 incidents last season like those you saw in the playoffs.

For me it's a concentration thing. In games where we're under a relentless barrage of attacks where he's constantly busy and doesnt have time to switch off, he's great, reflexes like a cat at times. But in games where he may have nothing to do for 20 minutes, then a routine save comes his way, all of a sudden his butter hands rear their ugly head and it's a calamity.

A new start might just be what he needs to make the most of his talent.
