Knotty was decent for us 3 seasons back, i would like him at Vale again but hasn't pushed on as expected. Was stunned to see him loaned to a non league side last season so maybe isn't as good as he was?

I'd take Knott in L2 any day of the week, hopefully we can sort something out.

Paul Mullin is somewhat underwhelming on paper, however.

Bang average. Derry wanted him to bomb on to support wingers but he can't run. Also come in when we hadn't won in 8 games and the atmosphere at the Abbey was toxic. There were a few scapegoats and he was included in that and never recovered from it.

He will be decent in the conference.

We had him for a while also, i'd echo SVH on this one, chipped in with a goal or 2, but his crossing was very scattergunesque

Knott has said there's nothing in him to Grimsby.

Ryan Brunt is looking for a club. Released by us, decided not to take the offer of training with us. Been injured for a season and a half, but before he got injured he was an old style number nine on a purple patch of goal scoring. However, a nasty injury and then several since meant he is a risk, but could be worth a punt for lower league 2 upper national. Very nice man too.

Would have thought one of the South West Yeovl, FGR or Cheltenham should take a punt on Brunt.

The bloke is a class act and was really playing well prior to that injury at Barnet. I still remember the sound of him clattering into the advertising boards and all those around me breathing in sharply.

His name cropped up on our forum earlier as possible person to take on trial.

Doubt we'd be in the market for a traditional target man with Reid and Simpson being in situ, but still wouldn't surprise me if we took a look at him.

Very nice man too.

Well if he's a "proper chap" and has a history of injuries then he's destined to sign for us. Those are the 2 main criteria on Tisdales fabled 10 point scoring system. Don't forget 5 points, are available for non-football related activities!

Alan Power gone to Kilmarnock.

Don't think that'll trouble too many Imps, tbh. The Cowleys didn't fancy him first off, preferring to play Bradley Wood in CM but after Lee Beevers got injured, Wood went back to RB and they managed to get Power to a level where he looked half decent although he had a very good player in Alex Woodyard next to him.

Prone to giving away lots of silly free-kicks in and around the box, silly turns on the edge of our box, stupid flicks for no reason and stupid challenges, which gives the ref a decision to make.

All that said, he never gave less than 100% here.

They do love a L2/NL player up there!

I would add Exeter to that list, though given they must be looking at top seven they might not take a chance. If FGR have money and are looking for an experienced striker he might be a good fit. As you say he was on fire before the injury, but no one will no how he is now until he gets on the pitch. I wish him well.

I thought he was better in the air than Reid, but Ruben is a more natural goal scorer.

Pretty much my thoughts too Luke a walking booking/red card and his last red v Chester when he came on to shore us up just summed him up, a totally stupid tackle.
Did score two very important penalties last season v Guiseley in the league on NYD and Brighton in the cup.
Good luck to him but he was captain of Lincoln side that didn't finish in the top half of the NL during his time doing the job.
Waterfall took over early last season.

Knott has said there's nothing in him to Grimsby.

He's definitely signing then.

The club have tweeted that they will be announcing a new signing at 5pm today.

Nathan Cla....oh never mind.

Seriously though, should be a good signing for you lot IF he's still got it. He was quite a good player back in the olden days at Huddersfield.

At least, it didn't come out of the blue eh Ken? The question was only of when he was going to leave and not if.

How much did he go for?
Hmmm... it seems I may have fallen for a very clever (and sad) photoshop.

He will be gone in the next few days/weeks that I am certain. It'll be around £1,000,000 (minus 20% of profit over and above £180,000 going to Norwich).

We've rejected a third bid from Notts County for Liam Noble. They just wont give up, wish they'd feck off and try and buy someone else. We desperately need to keep Nobes if we're going to be competetive, but fear he'll end up going.

Please stop turning his head Notts. Ta.

Clarke was shite for us last season. Only shocking thing about him rejoining Slade at Grimsby is that it took this long.

Reading the Notts County forum it seems as if LM would not be welcomed back with open arms.
If he wants to move back north, best avoid them.

Decent signing. Wish we'd hurry up and sign a decent centre half. Crewe fans, any update on the Ray situation?

Agreed a "deadline" of Wednesday for a decision. Be surprised if he actually left, sounds like the deal new contract on a bit of the small print. It would be so like Ray to believe his own hype after a couple of decent months (in 3 years) and bog off tho.

I think the photo is real tbh, it'd be a pretty amazing photoshop job if it wasn't, look at the little details like the crease in the shirt where his name is printed etc.

If it is real we are frankly lucky that Barnsley didn't try to do a last minute re-negotiation after seeing his haircut, he's always had a questionable barnet but that is next level...

Maybe I'm reading to much into what Jones said but he does make reference to wanting to replace him, so maybe he does mean getting in another attacking midfielder?

Sad to see him go obviously as was a real good young player with seemingly huge enthusiasm for playing here but as has been outlined before he definitely had some holes in his game that were covered up to some extent by his goal scoring, which i think seemed to take over from improving those areas last season. Seems a good move for him though, you'd think he would get game time at Barnsley which is what he seems to prioritise most which is admirable, I do wonder if technically he is good enough to play the number 10 role at the Championship level though although if he scores goals then I guess that that's good enough I guess

Nathan Clarke signs 1 year deal
He was immense for us 3 seasons ago, But I think that was his last decent season. He played all 46 League games for us.

Excellent captain and leader though, hence why Slade has signed him again!

We have signed Joel Grant. What do you think of him grecians? I am assuming as a winger he may be a bit in and out of games.

He has got immense potential - maybe not in year 1, but he'll grow and get better and better every day. That said, it is still a huge risk for a club of Barnsley to take with a player coming back from a broken leg and has never played at that level before.

Gutted to lose him, but it was inevitable. A million pounds probably into the kitty will do nicely.

He is virtually irreplaceable though - how do you replace a 20-goal a season midfielder at League 2 level, without spending £500,000?

How much for that Berry bloke?
