He wasn't dropped he was injured, broke his hand then couldn't get back in the team because Tranmere were thrashing everyone. Don't know about this missing chances business, think that accolade has to go to James Norwood.

Well he still got 23 goals last season and he only played about half of it so you must have seen some deadly strikers in your first season back in the league to suggest he's not good enough.
Well I saw Bogle, Marquis and Akinde? I don't know why you're arguing with this, I've seen Cook shitloads more than you have I'd have thought.

We were in talks about a new contract but don't know if that materialised (we kind of had a retained list but half of it was in talks over a new contract rather than offered).

Was decent first season, woeful last season. Yates will be fit and sign so maybe something in it.

Rumours on our forums suggest the Sheffield United left back we are in talks with is Hussey and the Wimbledon striker is Tyrone Barnett.

Hussey be a decent signing, Barnett not so sure.

Thanks for the info. We could have an aging centre back partnership in Purkiss and Robertson next season!

Tyrone Barnett, would be gutted if we were signing him. Has been woeful every time I've seen him.

Cook's injury will appear on one of these quiz websites for bizarre injuries.

Managed to drop a dumbbell on his hand (or was it a youth player dropped it on his hand?)...

Barnett is one of them isn't it. In fairness we managed to turn AJ Leitch-Smith and Akpo Sodje into goal machines so you never know but it would be an odd one as he's similar mould to Pope.

Purkiss became a liability but was decent prior to that so a new start might do him good. He wasn't the only one last season to be fair. I'd be happy to keep him in L2 so would be ok.

Hussey I'd be chuffed with, just feel we will get pipped by a league one side to his signature. Seems the Blades are trying to help us out though considering two legends occupy our coaching staff. (Although something like our last four or five managers are ex Blades!)

Just intrigues me that you think a guy that's scored over 60 goals in 3 seasons wouldn't be good enough for League 2. Someone better warn our centre halves what lies ahead in the 4th tier of English football, sounds deadly!

Sounds like we're close to re-signing Leon Best, although it could all be bullshit. A lot of talk from a lot of places but no real substance.

He was pretty good the first time he was here but we seem to be one of the few places he's done well, not sure how I feel about it. Would have rathered Collins or someone else whose more of a goalscorer.

We've put a 1 million pound figure on Ethan pinnocks head, really wanna keep him so hopefully nobody takes the risk in bidding for him!

I think you're underestimating the gap in quality. Cheltenham absolutely smashed the conference and nearly went straight back down. Over the last few years, pretty much every team that's been promoted except Bristol Rovers have been mid table at best. You'll realise that the gap in quality is larger than you think in your first few games back.

Looking forward to seeing some real talent at the bank next season then, don't disappoint guys.

Surely we'll sign somebody this coming week, less than two weeks until our first friendly.

Our assistant manager said we're interested in 2 loan players from a Premier League club, probably Newcastle as usual. Brentford keeper Jack Bonham has been linked a few times but that's gone quiet, on loan I'd imagine.

There's been suggestions we're after Bury's Hallam Hope (again), along with Swindon. I really hope we don't sign him.

Probably because he scored about 15 in about 80 for us (including a 3 in 33 season). He's very much a confidence player and when his head is down he offers very little.

Be surprised if we got that much, hopefully that means he's staying. If he does go main thing is to get as big a sell on clause as possible rather then money up front.

We've just signed a right back called Jack Stacey, was at Exeter last season.

Probably going to be a back up for James Justin you would think, unless we're selling him too of course!

Stacey was a winger/forward when we had him on loan. Now all of a sudden he's a right back.

Gutted that we didn't get Stacey permanently.

He was converted to a right back and did very well there. He's still learning but is quick, athletic and tenacious. His final ball is sometimes poor which is why I prefer him at right back but in the next year or two he will develop into a fine player.

The goal he scored against Carlisle in the play offs will live forever in my memory as one of the greatest moments, so I wish him all the best.

Luton have a good player there imo.

Andy Cook was the most underrated player we had in our entire time in the conference. When he was on it he had everything but our management showed little faith in him. It's his fitness that ultimately lets him down but in terms of talent he has bags of it.

Jack Stacey to Luton is a decent signing. Not the best defensively but great going forward and will develop into a great player.

Hallam Hope would be a good signing as long as he is only ever played as a striker and NOT shoved out wide where he was totally useless.

That's why we've only kept 11 of the squad that got us promoted and we're signing that many again over pre-season with a load due in this week.
Our current side are clearly rubbish as they beat half strength championship and prem sides...

L2 does not offer much in terms of talent, heh no way!

The gap to the conference is more in terms of player physicality, speed and I'd say it is technically better as well especially with the teams in the top half, the bottom half of L2 is weak however and they won't be as good as the very top teams in the conference.

So there is hope for you yet.

Matt Green is a good solid signing. Will definitely score goals

He was on form at the beginning of last season and had a lot of interest. Then there were rumours around contracts and transfers and he kind of lost his form.

For what its worth, I think Lincoln will do very well next season, but you can't really base it upon one off games in the FA Cup. Any team can beat any team on a given day...
