On top of the impressive O'Grady capture we are being linked with 2 midfielders, which we desperately needs. Louis Reed and Jose Semedo are the two front runners, if we get them I feel we may have the makings of another very decent league two side..without additions to the midfield we will still not trouble the pace setters though.

We ended our interest in Reed I think, at one point it looked like we was certain to get him on loan.

You need depth not just an average starting 11... you're going to find it tough

Where are Chesterfield getting all this money from? O'Grady won't come cheap. 1p in the £ again I guess...

Quite predictably the BBC reporting:

Ethan Ampadu [Exeter City - Chelsea] Undisclosed

So that'll be a bag of peanuts and no sell on clause then... :bang:
I hope for your sake that is not true, it stinks if it is. No doubt they will say they are doing you favour.

Jose Semedo would absolutely boss this level, expected him to go somewhere low end Championship like Burton, or a Rotherham/Doncaster in League One.

Marriott's a better out-and-out goalscorer and quicker for sure, Lee much better technically overall IMHO.

Lee has at least as much potential as Marriott IMHO although different types of forward. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lee used as the 10 as well as an out-and-out striker for us.

Seem to recall Lee was quite tricky and decent with the ball at his feet whereas Marriott liked to run on to the ball and behind defences and wasnt so great with the ball.

Think Lee might suit our style a little more than Marriott as there weren't a great many balls for him to run on too last season as I recall.

Have to say I don't really share the view that he has much potential as Marriott though, never struck me as a goal scorer and overall just thought he was alright in his first loan, didnt really jump out to me bar that one game against Wycombe where he was great. Think he will end up playing further back as an attacking midfield player rather than as a striker for that reason.

Having said that, about as good a 4th choice striker as you could reasonably expect and the prospect of him playing as a 10 is intriguing i think. Bar that run of games here and a loan at Colchester he hasnt ever really had a fair crack at it anywhere so maybe he just needs something settled and an opportunity.

I wish that was the case, no one is beating our 12 platforms in this division that's for sure... :bg:
Oh wait, have you only got the one station though? You can get to ours from two different ones. :cool1:
Also, I'm putting forward the notion that if you Google your club's town name and the top return isn't related to the footy team then you aren't a big club.

Don't agree with this at all.
I wasn't particularly impressed with him when he came on loan here a couple of years back, but Barnsley saw enough in him to sign him, so I'm hoping he's improved since then.

I think you've got that arse about face, certainly for "village" teams. For North Ferriby and Mansfield, football club came top.............................

along with Grimsby and Scunthorpe

I have no idea how he signed for Barnsley, other than that he seemed to be joined at the hip to George Moncur and managed to tag along with him in his move some how. We've had Lee twice now and he's flattered to deceive on both occasions, League Two is probably his level.

Onions vary, as they say on Outlaws. I thought he stuck out like a sore thumb when he was here, not in terms of goal return obviously but in technical ability he was light years ahead of any of our players then (admittedly not hard in that team) and his first touch and skill with the ball at his feet is much better than Marriott IMHO. He would have scored more had he not been cynically injured by a horrific tackle against Wycombe which interrupted his season.

He hasn't had a breakthrough season like Marriott had for us yet, but he's been at higher level clubs and not been given a run. Big season for him coming up, personally I think he'll be much more than our "fourth choice" striker but time will tell.

Jack Muldoon rejects our contract offer and joins Fylde.

Correct outcome for all. No-where near good enough for L2 and didn't get that many minutes last season. It was just a token contract offer for a potential squad player, much like Alan Power and Adam Marriott.

We have East Fife flop Ola Adeyemo and, according to someone on Twitter, Tom Hitchcock on trial.

Both would be absolutely piss poor signings, worried already that we're out of funds to improve the squad. I'd put faith in our youngsters over those two.

About as solid as you could reasonably expect as a second choice, played like 40 odd games in League One last season for the Wombles.

One year contract is good too, gives us flexibility to work with next summer depending on circumstance (i.e. if we go up and a Walton or Mitchell suddenly became available).

We've signed Dan Jones - looks a decent one if we can keep him fit. With Dickinson still on the books, left back is probably a position where we can afford a bit of a calculated risk.

Forest Green want £100k up front for Noble, we're offering it in instalments and add ons. If it's got to the stage of haggling over the structure of the deal, I reckon that's likely to happen.

We've also agreed terms with a centre back but his club won't sanction it until they get a replacement. Leigh Curtis has been bigging up Omar Beckles from Accrington and he's got form for doing that with players who we then go on to sign.

Mitchell Lund to Morecambe on loan for the season. Was surprised to see him transfer listed in the first place.

Jordon Forster confirmed from Hibs on a 2 year deal. Thats the defence practically sorted.
You guys have gone and got this all arse about face, it's supposed to be your average League 2 and Conference players going to play in the SPL not the other way around silly!

Apparently we might be signing someone tomorrow, no idea who.

Luton have made some strong signings, I'd have them over Mansfield.

Not a new signing but Stuart Beavon has signed a new two year contract, over-writing his relegation release clause. Should be a very good squad member at this level.
