Adams is rumoured to be going to cash strapped Chesterfield for a measly 75k.

As for Bennet he must be good as the fans on the Barrow forum are very bitter towards us getting him saying stuff like they hope we get relegated and that we should join the Scottish league.
Doesn't seem to be anything in that, there's apparently been no talk of it at Chesterfield's end and also they seem to be in a worse financial situation than us and in no position to sign any high-earners, even if the fee is small.

My guess is it's just one of these rumours started by people who like to claim they're itk, and get all excited when a thread they started on a club forum becomes a rumour reported on Sky Sports transfer centre or somesuch.

Who cares? Fair play to them. Lincoln were brilliantly successful last season and are now reaping the rewards. Good luck to them (for 44 games, lose to us twice if ya like)
Yeah true but Urban was not saying there was anything wrong with it, just that they have a big budget.

Winger Nathan Tyson has signed a 1 year deal after a trial during the summer 12 years after he left us for Forest when he was a striker, also taken QPR left back Jack Williams on loan.

As I said earlier you don't know, we don't know even anyone who is in the know don't know. Only people who know won't let anyone else know.
I do know.

As Frealaf pointed out earlier, Club accounts are available in most cases anyway, so even if you didn't immediately know, you'd be able to find out the following summer.

So you know the exact figure right now? Because that's what I mean not when it goes through the books?

We had him on trial for a bit last September, looked good but we weren't sure about his fitness, in the end Kilmarnock offered him a contract while we still wanted to extend his trial, so he went there.

When you have Lincoln fans 1) downplaying the amount of money they have available to them, 2) understating how much they're spending (this is not me saying I agree with Evans on the £400k figure, before people go mental) and 3) just casually saying that they're making serious offers to keep players who have had offers made from Championship clubs, I think it's a fair point to make.

I don't really care myself (and only will if they make a multi-million pound bid for Big John... which is probably well within their finances(!)) but it's fair to clarify things when they're making out that they don't have a lot of money to throw around and understating their expectations for the season. They're loaded and should be looked at as favourites for that.

Interesting one that. When we signed him last season he was down to be one of our star players with the reviews he came with from Bristol City fans who expected him to either stay there or go to league 1 at least. Got injured pre season and I think played one tinpot trophy game all year, had his contract terminated and went off to Scotland somewhere I think.

Many Argyle fans suspect a little more happened behind the scenes than was made public knowledge with Osbourne, which could make sense as his 'thigh strain' or something like that seemed to last all year.

Wish him well as he is an incredibly nice bloke. Hopefully Grimsby can nurture his evident talent if BCFC fans are to be believed. We never got the chance to see!

Sounds like we have missed out on a striker target and guesses on our forum now ranging from Omar Bogle to Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu.

Again basically no one knows.

Blackburn bid £250k and MacAnthony has said our bid was significantly lower. Do you want me to do the maths for you?

Considering you tried to bid 300k for Watkins, yeah I think you were probably playing silly buggers.

Yes, and, as I've said, it's less than half of the figure that Evans plucked out the air. Blackburn offered £250k and MacAnthony has said our bid was less, but Bostwick wanted to remain in South Lincolnshire.

1) No-one's downplayed anything. We've been pretty open that we made a small fortune last season.
2) As reply to mtfc26.
3) Has anyone said there have been offers from Championship clubs? Woodyard had a firm offer from Scunny in L1 (weirdly, we never actually agreed a fee with them for him) and we've rejected offers from Posh and Oxford in L1 for Raggett. Norwich were interested but never made a bid (new managed signed some Dutch defender) and WBA have scouted him, and more recently Pulis himself, but again, no offer.

It's also fair to clarify things when people are throwing silly figures around, which are incorrect. Even more so (and frustrating) when you're aware of what those figures are.

No-one's saying we 'don't have a lot of money' as per 1), and if we're understating what you believe our expectations should be, then that's probably down to how other teams have faired upon promotion. It'd be incredibly naïve, in my opinion, to expect to be challenging and going for back to back promotions.

Posh's owner confirmed Blackburn offered far more than us, 250k he only came here as he lives in Stamford and didn't want to move his family to the northwest. I'd say we've paid around 200k for the two. Yes the club made a lot of money last season from our first ever FA cup round anything up to 3 million, plus a doubling of the gates earning around another 1 million, plus food, drink, programmes etc adding another decent sum. Also we've had 3 new directors come on board plus our South African investors have put more in since xmas. Our money has been earned by the exploits on the pitch and the knock on effects of having a successful team. This money is to last us more than one season otherwise we'll be back in non-league! That it what the chairman has told the local press on several occasions since we got promoted. Also Luke says we've sold loads of season tickets too.
It's not like other teams who are propped up by one person pumping loads of cash.

We also sold Margetts to Scunny for about £50k and managed somehow to get a fee for Theo Robinson going to Southend, despite him being on non-contract terms. Something about a 7-day approach or somesuch nonsense.

To be clear, yes, we have plenty of money, but there's no way we paid even half what Evans is quoting for Bostwick and Anderson combined.

We're paying good wages to the key players, no doubt, and our budget and the management team, plus momentum from last season, mean we should be seen as serious contenders, if we can bring in another striker and some full-backs.

The problem with a one season financial windfall is that if you fuck it up this year you're in the shit for years to come. Hence why those relegated from the Prem and don't make it back with their parachute payments go in to struggle. QPR, Wigan, Blackburn etc

Can't bloody win - we get slapped down when we say we'll be challenging and then when we start spending some cash we get told we're downplaying things because we don't believe the figures Steve Evans' says we're chucking about.

Indeed, and our board are very aware of this and have said the money earnt last year will be spread over several seasons. We're also not spunking it all on players; we are building a new training ground and investing in the off-field stuff the Cowleys think are essential for us to keep improving.

I'd forgotten about them! Good point so possible 70k in total there too.
Having spoken to Clive (our South African investor) a few times I know the club wont spend silly money on players or wouldn't have missed out some.

Well Luke knows the figure and is a reliable chap. I'll trust him over Evans, thanks.

Evans is probably just playing mind games.

Why he'd focus on Lincoln who probably aren't going to be knocking around us in the table is an odd one though.

So, in other words, they've trousered a bit of it
