In other news we've also let Rhys Murphy go by mutual consent, looked good at the start of last season but fell out of favour and did fuck all on loan at Torquay, so no surprise he's gone.

I think the last good stint Murphy had was with us on loan from Oldham. He signed in August 2015 and when he left at the end of December he had about ten goals. Looking at a twenty a season forward there. We wanted him back but mucked up somehow and then in the summer he chose FGR (in the conference) over us. Can't say I blame him but it has gone wrong for him since then.
The Rhys Murphy who played for us I'd take back straight away. The Rhys Murphy since then....nah.

Rumours among our fanbase that we're in for Ched Evans. Be surprised, mind.

Also, some Prem kid that Wigan are after too.

He also says we are definitely looking for a centre back and are interested in Sonny Bradley again and Raggett. The latter would only be if Bradley didn’t come off as Jones would prefer a permanent deal to a loan.

I'd be disappointed if Raggett went to Luton rather than Lincoln if he was sent back out on loan. If he went to League 1 or above, then fair enough as it would be step up in terms of the opposition. That said, he is a southerner so Luton might be more convenient as I've no idea of his accommodation situation in Lincoln.

Mate, I know nothing. The lad who tweeted its exact words were

‘Heard today that Alex Woodyard is on NJ's wanted list but Lincoln asking price higher than expected.’

When asked directly by someone said

‘Yeah I know he’s a target. Lincoln asking for a fair amount apparently so might be one to revisit in summer if we go up and they don’t.’
Thanks for the info, clears a few bits up. More likely the summer when there's less time left on his contract.

Surely we'd get first refusal at having on loan at this level as they bought him from us?
Totally agree odd one that but that's football!

Nothing mentioned on Stagsnet about Frecklington or other transfer targets tbh.

So either it's very quiet, or the lad is going to Lincoln as mentioned by their fans on here.

I think Evans is going to happen - seems to be coming from all the right people.

Pretty ambivalent, at best, to be honest.

Would be a good signing.

How're you boys doing finance wise btw? Hardy was saying that you were losing £x a month and your good form wasn't actually helping with payments (though suspect obviously tongue in cheek!) - he can't come cheap

We seem to be going in the right direction, but there’s probably a long way to go. Whatever Hardy says, I reckon our wage bill is level with last season at most, probably less, whilst crowds have gone up massively and we’ve had a great cup run, which should be helping. We also seem a lot more professional in terms of selling advertising etc than we were under RT.

Could be about to get half a million or so from Bialkowski moving to Palace, which would be very helpful too.

Young LB James Brophy being chased by Aldershot and Orient. Be amazed if we get any fee for him. Got him from non-league and I quite like him but most of the fan-base don't reckon he's good enough for league football.

Our development team is playing Cheltenham today. Hopefully plenty of triallists to get our teeth into!

Well that's good news. He seems a decent guy and clearly wants the best for you. And whereas as fans there's not much you can do about it, it's refreshing to see Notts achieve while actually doing things fairly and above board.

As we've noticed with JR - improve the facilities, advertising and packages well and you're laughing. Can be a big % of your turnover.

Lawrie Wilson has had his contract terminated and strangely signed for Ebbsfleet, huge fall from being part of Bolton’s promotion winning side last season! Been awful for us though and looked completely uninterested despite being one of our best signings on paper.

Should have been a good signing for this level, but ended up being Browns biggest failure which says something.

It seems we have Ryan Loft playing in a ressies game today. He’s a forward at Spurs but had a short loan at Stevenage where he scored a total of zero goals.

So, we lose Reid and potentially replace him with some lanky kid who doesn’t score. Woo.

We need pace ffs.

Not sure about Frecklington. Undoubtedly would be quality for anyone in this league and the one above if he can stay fit but he’s only played 8 games this season and only about 20 last season.

I don’t like the idea of having someone on 3/4K a week potentially sat in the stands every week injured.

Haydn Hollis is FGR’s sixth signing of the transfer window after leaving Notts County.
FGR website said he could be in team on Saturday against Swindon.
I ask the County fans what is his strengths and weaknesses?

Put it this way, his first game this season he was responsible for a goal scored against us in the first minute!

There is a reason our defence is much tighter this year, he's not been in it! He regularly goes walkies leaving massive gaps in the defence and is regularly beaten in the air... Not sure why you've signed him to be honest?

Haydn’s a good lad, he’s not good enough for where we are or want to be, but I wish him all the best. Has been a good servant to the club.

He’s a fairly typical big, strong lower league centre back. Good in the air but terrible with the ball at his feet. I think his biggest problem is that he loses his head and starts making mistakes when the team or defence isn’t playing well around him, he hasn’t cut that out of his game since he was 18/19 and it’s ultimately what cost him his place in the Notts team.

Well, he'll obviously be fine in the watertight ship we sail in Nailsworth :D Certainly a fair bit of shipping going on in our defence anyway. He mentions linking up with Cooper again in our press release, maybe they got on.

It’s a weird one because he’s not really a Cooper type player - have always thought he wanted his defenders to be able to do more than launch the ball out of play.

He’s not as bad as a lot of Notts fans make out, anyway. Perfectly capable of being a reasonably solid League Two defender in the right team.

In a 3 centre back scenario I'd agree with you but it's suicide to play him as one of a pair! He has zero positional discipline for a start. Most of our conceded goals were caused by him going walkies and Dickinson having to cover for him that allowed the cross through

In some way that’s a good thing. Hopefully they are looking at known quantities, not taking a punt on triallists.

Actually that's a very good point. Brophy played today. It would have been a shame for him to get injured if we were going to get a bit of moolah from him.

No one will be able to convince me Hollis was a bad player for us, he just wasn't a very good one but it's league 2 and your e never going to have 11 very good players or more.

He came through your academy, was in your first team squad for 7 years, making well over 100 appearances and you STILL can't spell his name properly?

Seriously though, if he can do the basics well then he'll be fine I reckon, we just need to be solid to get enough points to stay up.

After he celebrated with the Portsmouth fans on the pitch after a home league defeat in which he was part of a defence that shipped 3 soft goals, he's lucky I even attempted to spell his name!

In my opinion, he's a bog standard defender for 80 mins of a match, for the other 10 minutes he's a walking disaster zone. Also a defender shouldn't be a confidence player, and he is just that, one mistake will cause a domino effect and cause more. Ironically, I always thought his best games for Notts were at left back, but saying that, his distribution is utter gash so it's probably not a good move for him there either

Christ, I hope not. This player we're contesting Wigan for, might put the Evans rumours to bed though.

Be nice if we could get someone in before the weekend, especially before the trip to a weakened Lincoln.
