Gone right quiet for Mansfield, I’d still expect a signing or two though.

Winger Nick Freeman has been given a 2 year contract extension by Ainsworth,a good decision as he's improving all the time and chips in with a few goals.

First bit of news of the month for us is Kane Hemmings is staying for the rest of the season, also apparently Shrews/Doncaster have tabled bids for Alex MacDonald too.

Most over rated academy player in a while (bar Ollie Turton, obvs). On his day... a decent L2 player. Otherwise flatters to deceive and thinks a lot of himself. I'm sure some of our fans will be in hysterics but I'm happy to see the back of him.

Apparently we are in for Luke Hannant from Gateshead. Aspin took him there from further down the pyramid so it seems he thinks highly of him. He had initially said that out of respect for his former club that he wouldn’t take any players from them.

Few other clubs sniffing around him too.

Was excellent against us. And is it just me, or it the way Crewe's official Twitter account built up the sale of one your better players
('Some major January Transfer news coming up very shortly.... Guess Who?!?') a tad odd?

Nah, reflects the club’s attitude that the sale of an academy player is bigger than a win or promotion. This is what we have to put up with.

The twitter account is tragic anyway. They’ve just in the last few weeks found emojis and memes, making every tweet even more excruciating than when they call 4-0 defeats “unlucky”. They’re now “unlucky, sad face, fist bump, football, monkey face, clapping hands”.

Just looking at it now, unbelievable. Is it run by a 14-year-old? Latest tweet (presumably a reaction to the negative replies):

'The Club celebrate the achievements of it's homegrown players...

'Players are brought through to play for #CreweAlex first team then be sold on.

'We, and the majority or our fans, are happy for George & our other grads!'

WTF?

Hence why I'd take relegation in order to kill the academy and thus this brain dead attitude. Can't tell you how much I have come to despise the academy and everything it stands for at the club. That "and the majority of fans" is typical passive aggressive nonsense spouted by the club (and its managers and local media) at anyone who questions them, stemming from the self-aggrandising tosh that our academy is of any significance to anyone outside the offices of Gresty Road.

How is it when players leave any club not just Crewe , they become overrated, etc etc.
Crewe fans were creaming themselves about this diving ponce. He is a poor mans Maddison who is already at Posh.

When you beat us for example in August. Radio Stoke was awash with comments and the spectacled goon Artell went way OTT too.
The lad at Coventry is it Jones ? is far superior, hence Cooper ended up League one and not higher.

Blimey, you Vale fans really were butt hurt by that defeat in August. Do nothing but drag up Radio Stoke comments from that fateful night.

With regards to that; I don't think Artell has called Cooper over rated and would no doubt stand by his comments that Cooper is good. Those calling him over rated, like me, haven't rated him in a long time. I could pull up several posts on here this season where I've said he's a little bit not good. Point being... I'm not even sure.

Timey it is nothing to do with the defeat at all, we had 9 in our first 11 games so were used to it. As i live here and listened to the station i can only go on what i heard and he was being so talked up it was unreal. If my posts around that time were checked when most of your fans ( not necessarily you ) were predicting automatic, i stated that you were bang average and wouldn't come top 10. I was laughed out of town.
Cooper is alright ....that is it... seems a weak player,, also think he is guilty of thinking he is in the Premier League with his hair flicks and diving.

Hannant deal done as local journo interviewing him.

Lincoln and FGR two that wanted him but guess Aspo was the pull.

Can't claim to know anything about him, sick of some of the negativity of some Vale fans, would prefer Hannant rather than some journeyman on his 9th club, we have those already such as Barnett and Kay etc.

Our midfield is sorted just after another forward according to DC at his press conference today.
Won their penalty against us last season at Gateshead.

I can't see any reason why we'd have been in for Hannant. Paper talk.

Way has confirmed that two clubs have made bids for Otis Khan with at least one meeting his release clause, not letting on who or how much though. He's also stated that another mystery club is interested in Omar Sowunmi.

Khan is a quality player not surprised. Sowumni looked okay but is also a little' bambi on ice ' at times.

Pretty chuffed with Hannant signing. Seems like he’s just what we need; an energetic central midfielder who can also play on either wing.

The fact that Aspin has convinced Norman to pay some money for a player means he must have some faith in his ability.

Seems like a decent lad as well.

Likely to be league two or will they be going to a higher level?

Khan should be going higher, he's good enough with 10 goals and 10 assists this season from the wing in a struggling team (apparently only him and Leroy Sane have reached that). Apparently he wont leave until after the Man Utd game though.

Sowunmi has improved a lot this season and is a decent enough CB at this level, but I'd be surprised if anyone would stump up the cash for him now given that our defence hasn't exactly been watertight this season.

Bud, you're preaching to the converted. Anyone with half a brain cell in our fan base knows how overrated the lad is. He got booed off against Swindon the other week because he was performing terribly. The majority of the fan base are fucked off with his performances and there won't be many who shed a tear for his departure.

You're mentioning the post game Vale v Alex comments for at least the 4th or 5th time, maybe let it go?

But lets look at the situation after we beat you. We'd made some(on paper) decent signings during that summer. We moved to 4 unbeaten and were sat in the top 3, albeit after just 4 games. We seemed to have a competent manager who knew what he was doing. And you are/were surprised that you got shit when your called your rival team average and not top 10 material? Is that at all surprising? We'd seen our team 4 times, you once. Why on earth would anyone take your opinion seriously? Much the same as if I called the Vale overrated after watching one game and calling them relegation fodder. You'd laugh me off as well and rightly so.

Not even sure how you can claim credit for your prediction either, you were off on our team just as much as us fans were. Some of us thought promotion contender after 4 games, you said mid-table. Turns out we were both wrong on that one eh?

Cooper is exactly how you describe. Alright for this level, got some talent but inconsistent and thinks he a Premier League pretty boy. Anyone in our fan base who tells you otherwise clearly haven't watched him this season.

Good luck to the lad at Posh, they know how to turn polish players up way better than we do, so maybe he'll do ok with a new team in a higher league. He needed to go from us, had gone stale and wasn't signing a new deal in the summer, hence why we've probably cashed in now.

As for our social media account, it sums up the club in general. Tone deaf, without a single clue of how to judge the pulse of the fans. We are losing fans on a weekly basis, losing games on a weekly basis, are 6 points from the relegation zone, have Barry Bennell's court case going on in the background and have now just sold our best goal creator(looking at the stats). So obviously the right thing to do is crack out the old and stale jokes about signing a top player from a Premiership club, because thats never been done before.

Crewe Alexandra is in a mess. We're the dog in the burning house gif. That is us at the moment.

I'm still having to re-read the tweets from today to try and fathom what on earth they were thinking. From bigging it up before the announcement to then getting giddy that he'd gone. Zero social media awareness, just an awful, awful [misjudged] attempt at copying some well thought out stuff from others (think Bristol City & their gifs). The decade old memes & gifs they post daily suggests the guy behind it was recently sent on a social media course. How to connect with your consumers and relate to the yoof half day special.

How anyone can back the club ethos when they laugh in fans faces like this is beyond me. Peter Morse will still lap it up though. Club can't survive otherwise etc etc etc.

The four clubs interested are Us,Wigan,Bradford City & Luton. Not sure the two that have bid but I would think he would go to Wigan or Bradford. Maybe us if he wants to stay locally.

Out of that lot (and I think Peterborough were linked as well), I would say Bradford or Wigan seem most likely as I get the impression that he would like to return north, closer to Manchester, and McCall picked out Khan for praise after our cup game against Bradford.
