If only we’d held firm in Summer. Berry was exactly the same

Berry was becoming disruptive and was forcing the move. Even changed his agent at the last minute to get it done.

No excuse for selling so low unless there was a release clause.

I doubt we bid £120,000 flat. We may have offered that amount up front but I assume it was full of clauses. Gary Sweet has proven that he is as good as there is when it comes to negotiating.

I'll be surprised if we went higher than what we paid for Berry and Collins (250k) for him, though.

120k seems such a weird figure to offer, we must have known that would be rejected or we had some duff info on the release clause in the contract. Could be we offered a load of clauses too like chippy says.

Hope we go back in for him though. Don’t really recall him having an impact on the games we played this season but I think we need another DM personally with McCormack nowhere to be seen, he’s young and by the accounts of Lincoln fans a quality player.

Ladabie is just the sort of midfielder i'd like to see us go for. Seems to have sorted himself out at Newport. Watched them against Leeds the other week & he was the best player on the pitch.

We'll get neither.
We've supposedly missed out on Wilks from Leeds as he's opted to join Grimsby on loan instead
There we go, as predicted. I actually rate Cole Stockton though... which is why I'm certain we won't sign him. He'll get as far as negotiating pay and realise that Nixon wants to pay him in vouchers for free Pirelli tyres.

JJ to Brighton with a loan back to us to end of season is now being reported by Pete O'Rourke. I'd be happy with that as it would give us money to strengthen now and time to identify another right back for next season. Be a good move for him too I think.

Yea I think it may be the right move for everyone. If he was a reliant week in week out it might be different however Jack Stacey has been phenomenal for us and is holding JJ back. Disappointing as he is one of our own, but good that we have him for the rest of the season. Considering we turned down 7 figures in the summer, you’d imagine we’ll have a fair wedge to blow in this window and the summer now. Even more so if Marriott leaves Peterborough this window.

Also, Josh McQuood. Coming to a Conference South team near you any time now. Or Stevenage.

We’ve loaned Curtis Thompson to Wycombe. Slightly strange letting a player go to a direct rival, but suppose it’s hard to deny someone a move when they’ve barely got on the bench all season.

Hope a change of scenery gets his back on track, but fear he’ll go down as a case of wasted potential. Was comfortably our best player when he broke into the team the year we were relegated from League One and we all expected him to be a top player at this level, but he got injured early on and has never looked the same since. Has never been a great passer, but at his best he’s looked strong, quick, good in the tackle and capable of going past players.

I think Nolan’s main issue with him as that he’s just too comfortable and hasn’t really seemed bothered about pushing for a place in the team. Maybe a move away from his home town club will be good for him in that sense.

You must be in one hell of a shitty mess if he's chosen to play for hoof it and hope Slade instead of you!
We must have a whole team of strikers on the books now...we should play them all, we might score more than one goal in a game...

actually thinking about it we wouldn't...

Play Jones in midfield with Summerfield now? Perm 2 from Matt, Vernan and this new lad?

Another £1m++ into the kitty for us to “buy the league” then.

Every post from Wycombe fans on our boards are not favourable but Ainsworth does have a decent record with signing players who seem to be going nowhere in their career and improving them, he hasn't had that many that proved to be a waste of time although Jason Banton and Max Muller show he doesn't always get it right.

Luckily he'll be second choice! Also heard you lot are signing Sam Russell would be a very good signing.

Even second choice is a bit close to the starting line up for me! Awful keeper. When he was with us I don't think he made (or even attempted) a save. Anything on target was in. Hes also a fat little thing.

Russell really? Interesting. He's certainly be a step up from Chris Dunn. Not sure we are after a keeper though.

If Danny Cowley loses Woodyard, any chance he could come in for Woolford, it's only 3 letters different!

We've signed striker Alex Fisher on a free from Motherwell.

Huge guffaw! He’s really small for a keeper, apart from being useless. He did join a quite amazing keeper sequence at Swindon when he saved a pen on debut. That’s 4 in a row now who’ve done that for us.

Seems like a good lad, Stranraer fans reckon he's quality. Wouldn't shock me if ends up as no.1 here, we've been after another keeper for a while.

He's the worst keeper I've ever seen play for us. He's about 4 foot tall and I'm being serious in that I never saw him make one save for us, literally every shot on target was a goal for the 20 or so games he played for us.

Stranraer eh, sounds almost as though FGR's main criteria for a keeper is that he's able to join the squad in Carlisle by tonight.

Is it me or do Forest Green fans constantly toss themselves off over any new signing?

Proper bunch of weirdos.

Do you not use twitter?

Every signing is an EXCITING EVENT.

And this Belford lad looks alright based on this:

Released by Stranraer... they're barely even Evo-stik League standard.
Know little about the guy except that he was a regular at Stranraer and has worked with both Mark Cooper and his deputy Scott Lindley in the past. And if he is a bench warmer, does it matter if he is not Premiership standard.
Three years ago FGR sold Sam Russell to Gateshead whose fans did not rate him during season he was with them.
Sam returned to FGR and played every minute of our promotion season.
Seems players react differently, better or worse, within different teams and different managers.

Inury killed him just when he was starting to look the real deal. He's a player that seems to split opinion even though I'm not really sure why - his passing isn't great but at his best he's everywhere, bullies players off the ball, is very difficult to dispossess and makes the odd driving run forward. He's not a particularly difficult player to work out - just a good lower league one (When he's fit). I think people go for the easy explanation of his attitude being off but previous managers have raved about it even when he hasn't been in the team.
