This is probably bollocks, but I’ve heard a whisper we’ve met the release clause in Jayden Stockley’s contract.

I thought Akinde was valued at around 10M according to Barnet fans a year or two ago.

Talking about Championship wages, in 2009 when Buxton went to Derby his wage was £6K a week.

It would not surprise me if Walker was on near £10k a week.

The loan fee I have heard for Walker is £20k a month for 10 months, £200k in total.

No loan fee, Just contributing to his wages.
Perhaps Akinde hasn’t been officially announced because he is finishing his stint carrying kids on rides on Blackpool beach.
I'd be very reticent letting my son ride along Blackpool beach on John Akinde's back, you never know when a stray ball of candy floss could take him out at any point.

To be fair he'd tuck the penna away with consummate ease.

2 class keepers Vickers & Smith
2 class full backs Eardley & Toffolo
2 steady CBs Waterfall & Wilson
Middle of the park very strong options Bostwick O'Connor Frecklington Pett
Pacey widemen Anderson & Andrade
Goals galore up top Green Rhead (Akinde)

With probably another 5 signings (CB) hopefully.

Something tells me we'll be going up this year. Exciting stuff.

I’d hold fire on claiming Davies is anything other than average. He’s a funny one, never the most prolific (as in needs quite a few chances to score), because he misses a hatful of chances.

On his day, he’s a battering ram of a striker but when he’s in a mood (which is often) he’s absolutely useless.

Sounds like some Stags fans description of Hemmings on here last season, minus the bad attitude

All depends on the fabled change of style.

Hope it is bollocks as losing Stockley would see us lose about 15-20 points next season. Add to that, we’d be allowing a rival to be considerably strengthened....

I can’t believe the club would be so stupid to put a low figure release clause in his contract but after JMT going on a free, who knows.

I know you spent quite big on Woolery last year but have you got much money sloshing about to pay transfer fees?

We’ve sold Norris and Mullin, got £1m from Aden Flint’s transfer from Brizzle to Boro. If there is any legs in this, I can see a fee plus Woolery. I wouldn’t worry too much, I really can’t see it.

His wages are going to be massive to persuade him to relocate from London as well, you’d think? Big risk but very big rewards if it comes off and he refinds the form of a couple of years ago.

Why is spending money, paying really healthy wages for (hopefully) good players, and making permanent signings perceived with such negativity.

Why wouldn’t two sides who lost in play off semis not “go for it”, I’m delighted we are.

Must be ever so dull if a club isn’t

Your word ‘hopefully’ answers that - more so at our level.

I reckon. That much for a 29 year old, out of sorts for last season doesn’t really seem feasible

That's because it's not, by all accounts it's around 170k IF HE SIGNS. Would be surprised if we even paid that tbh. Our transfer record is still 75k from about a hundred years ago, Tony Battersby?

As you would expect word ‘hopefully’ applies less usually the more you pay for a player and/ or in wages.

Picking up free transfers, the dregs leftover out of contract players offering average wages has never really worked for us.

I for one, am delighted we have spent some cash on two forwards. It’s what we needed most as soon as last season finished

Whatever the fee, it’s a hit for a club’s finances cos they’ll be no future profit on him.

Obviously, but my point is that if he hits 20 and you don’t get promoted you’ve lost your money. It’s not the sort of thing clubs at our level can afford much of. I can understand clubs paying biggish wages but with a high fee as well it’s got to work out.
