IMO, Cambridge will finish higher next season than Stevenage - but I said the same last season about Luton. Fancy another two-way tussle for the title U's fans?!

I disagree. Have you seen the players we've signed so far? We will show him the list of players we're trying to sign so given that, with a great set up a long with plans for a new stadium being built with a pitch you can play football on, plus living in one of the nicest cities in the UK, I would say he would chose us all day long. Plus have you seen the state of Stevenage lol.
But he's 31 and therefore probably won't be with you for long. Long-term plans won't really be too relevant to him, whereas money becomes more relevant as a player gets older.

Winning games and gaining promotion might just appeal to him too.....

I'd take second in League Two every day over second in the Vanarama Skrill Bet National Premier!

We're not going to agree on this because our views are fundamentally different. Personally I think a bigger wage would be much more appealing than playing in a good team, especially as an older player who won't have amassed much money over his career.

This is a player whose last club was Fleetwood as well ffs. If that isn't focusing on money then what is...

If you keep yourself in reasonable shape, a 31yr old could have 4 or 5 more years playing in league 2.

I see where you're coming from.... But his spell at Fleetwood was also a successful time for the club with a League 2 promotion and another season not far off the play offs.

His move to Fleetwood would also have been influenced by the fact they were likely to sign other decent players with their millions too, this winning games etc. ie not just his weekly take home.

Good point. He dropped from a playoff league 1 team to play for Fleetwood (could have easily stayed in league 1 at the time), he got back to league 1 and now he's dropped again.

I agree, Roberts moves for the :£

I've got my Jabo the Hutt profile picture ready for the confirmation of his signing. It's staying even if we don't get him.
Have you heard something else other than the radio cumbria follow? I've had a quick search on twitter and can't see anything.

Someone on our forum said this:
'He was up for his medical on Thursday. I assume BBCRC following him on Twitter means it went well.'

Lummy has also had his say on it:
'As a midfielder I would love him in my team if he shows the form he is capable of,Danny Livesey always said he wasn't bothered about his goal threat,it was that he took 2 defenders out of the game to allow others to capatilise. He will have other offers for sure.'

Hopefully it's true then. Is the poster who said it a reliable poster or a potential bull shitter?

I don't recall this poster mentioning any rumours before but he's certainly never bullshitted. Usually if someone is making something up it's in the form of 'it will be announced on day X' so hopefully this one's true.

Given the way they're throwing money about it would be a massive underachievement on their part if they finish below us.

If you and Cambridge are involved in a two way battle for the title I'll end the season a very rich man!

Our chairman has made a rare appearance on our mental forum, which is always fun. His comments are as follows

1) 2 midfielders have signed subject to them returning from holiday. One is Milsom I assume.
2) One midfielder will show our 'intent' - dunno if that is one of the two or another one
3) Talking to two pacey wingers (hallelujah) and hopeful both will agree deals soon. I'll guess one is Banton.
4) Offered a contract to a Championship striker who 'will be our new Hughesy' (hopefully that doesn't mean old and an ex-criminal...but you never know with this club)
5) We've signed the biggest sponsorship deal in the division - YEAH, YOU ALL READ THAT RIGHT.
6) Have a top budget - from what he knows only Portsmouth and Luton are really above us.
7) Weren't interested in Westcarr and won't be bringing Ben Davies back either.
8) Numerous foreigners will good backgrounds will be training with us from the start of pre-season as Moniz doesn't want to sign them before watching them train.

Going up.

£5 that neither Luton or Cambridge get automatic promotion

Re County Chairman,

He's not going to know where about the budget is untill the FL give every club the 'list' also, how does he know it's the biggest sponsorship deal in the division? I imagine our sponsorship deal with One Call (Stadium name, shirts, general sponsor etc) is possibly right up there, but it's Radford Company so it's sort of cheating!

Funny you should pipe up because he also said this about Mansfield

'I can tell you he is not splashing the cash because we spent quite a bit of time together socially at the chairmans conference in Portugal and w discussed budgets'

In fairness only 4, 5 and 6 are actually good things out of those. I hate when people say they're showing 'intent' as well, as if people think you're intending on doing badly.

Who's the sponsorship deal with out of interest?

Oh I knew I'd fuck up. He didn't say it was definitely the biggest, I'll just copy and paste it so I don't misquote the big man.

'We will announce this week, the biggest shirt sponsorship deal the club has ever signed. Its also probably a bigger deal than any League 1 club has including the big teams in that League'

That's what he said, he could mean League 2 and not League 1 I suppose, but either way. I guess it'll be interesting to see which company it is. More often than not we tend to be sponsored by a company he has some link to personally.

Sounds about right.

He's definitely increased it and made it competitive again, most of the budget is focused on a 'spine' ie Collins, Westcarr, Green, Chapman and the rest so far have been young, and/or unproven.

Our first season back in the FL our budget was top 3 pre-christmas, last season it was pretty much cut in half and we was in the bottom 4.

We don't know yet. He also said that our budget will be higher this year than any of our seasons in League One, which is a strange thing to do but whatever.

The majority of our signings from now on are likely to be from abroad. Some Eredivisie players and also Leonardo afaik.

Hopefully for Notts County's sake the 2 midfielders return from holiday. I'll have my fingers crossed for you guys all week.

We're not signing Leonardo, let it go. I do check his Facebook daily just to see if he's in Nottingham though.

Hopefully we won't just spunk the budget

I think it's likely the sponsors will be associated to the Trews in some way like 3663 and some of our other sponsors have been

Just googled Leonardo Afaik to see who it is, what position he plays etc.

Nope, still not a clue.
