What sort of fucking amateur Chairman goes on a fans forum BTW? Do a 'meet the chairman' and make some money out of it.

Ours. See my post from last week about our club perfecting the balance between being really shite but also really interesting.

I feel the same about Mansfield quite a lot to be honest.

Nah, you lot were so painfully dull last year. We were too but we acted swiftly and signed a big weird Hungarian striker then replaced Derry with a Dutchman no-one had ever heard of but blames 'the will of the devil' for everything bad that happens.

Keith Curle always keeps things interesting even if it is extremely detrimental to the club. What a man.

Our manager likes to keep it interesting , gets smashed with fans and shouts about the grimsby newspaper. We like him , he can stay

I'm talking more off the pitch, although to be fair last season was a quiet one, Radford and Hymas sorted a settlement out so that's one less court case.

Trevor Carson apparently having a medical with us today..

Scooped up a few awards at Cheltenham last season but that doesn't really say much at all.

Surely the Carson post should be in the rumours until confirmed?

On another note, what's happened to Scott Flinders?

I figured someone would mention that.. I was reading this thread and couldn't be bothered to click across.. so hopefully its confirmed soon.

Flinders was offered reduced terms but hasn't accepted and I think he's looking for a new club. Its been 6 years now and probably the right move on both parts. Still a good league 2 keeper mind.

Funny you should pipe up because he also said this about Mansfield

'I can tell you he is not splashing the cash because we spent quite a bit of time together socially at the chairmans conference in Portugal and w discussed budgets'
Well we could tell you that Radford isn't splashing the cash. That looks quite obvious to almost every Mansfield Town supporter. I'm not sure why anyone connected with Notts Co would even suggest or be concerned about this.

The budget seems to have risen more than last season, however, it was slashed massively last season so it's probably just being more aligned with other similar sized clubs.

According to someone on our forum, we're signing Richard Tait. Ex Cambridge & Tamworth right back.

His form dipped in Jan but I always liked Tait as he gave 100% but he was a bit suspect up against any winger with pace.

I thought Carson was alright for us aswell despite playing with a hopeless back four in front of him.

Gillespie signs up for another year with a second year extension if he hits appearance targets. I expected him to be off to League 1, and when I heard he was signing I expected it to only be a year so for him to stay loyal and sign for a couple of years is a great bonus. Here's to hoping for many more Burton-like performances.

Great bloke. Fair Conference right back, especially with a winger ahead of him that helps out. Got found out regularly last season, especially at home when we played attacking wingers who often didn't help him out much. Various wingers/managers who met him for the first time this season will be pleased he's staying in L2.

Hopefully we'll be a more competent team so that we don't need him to make 30 saves in one match.

That match was fun in its own way though. I remember going onto the Burton forum to see how rumbled some of them were, and one of them had compared Gillespie to having Spiderman in net.

Strong rumours on our message board that we're set to re-sign Luke Berry. If it's true id expect to see our odds of a top 7 finish begin to tumble

Signed Enda Stevens on a 2 year deal after his release from Villa. He was on loan at Doncaster last season and played on the same side as Kyle Bennett who we've also signed earlier this summer.

Happy with that.

Since svh posted there and on L1 but not here, I've just been keeping fingers crossed. Even without Lukey and Josh Simpson (the other strong rumour), I think we'll have the best team that I've ever seen in my time at the Abbey - although that's not saying a lot. This is going to be a completely new experience for me. I'm not sure how you deal with the sort of expectations that are being generated by the latest phase of the Jezolution. Perhaps I'll just dust off the old Conference DVDs from the Blue Square days.

We had him on loan briefly and I thought he looked very solid. Composed on the ball aswell. Good Signing IMO.

On a 2-year deal as well, very forward thinking move that is!

It's absolute lunacy. I think he's nearly 35 and towards the end of last season he dipped from being 'a bit shit' to 'complete embarrassment' - he was fucked after about 30 minutes and missed so many one-on-ones in a 3 month span it HAS to be some sort of record.

Our fans' reaction when we thought he was staying said it all but knowing the most we'd have given him would have been a really cheap 1 year deal when there were thickos like Ainsworth willing to give him 2 years basically means there was no chance of him ever staying.

Good luck to him though, he generally tried at least and seemed a decent enough bloke. He was just utterly abysmal at football.

Playedup front up front with our captain Paul Hayes at Scunthorpe when the got promoted before he signed for Bradford, with our young squad (well it was ) nice to have some more experience in the team just surprised it's a 2 year contract at his age.
